sweet! Lets see how this pans out! -
Yeah, I know your pain. Luckily, when I was in school, I was only required to see them my first year. After a crappy year with uneccessary classes, I wised up and took my educational path into my own hands. Graduated on time, with a relatively light course load. Remember, they are paid by the school. Its not in the schools interest to have you out in 4. Get your DAPR (well thats what they called them at my school. But basically a sheet that tells you what you've taken, and what you need to graduate). Plan from that, b/c thats all your counslor does anyway. You were smart enough to get into college, I am sure you are smart enough to figure out your class schedule. Also, my first year in school, I bought into the whole "you need to buy the books" thing, wasted a shit ton of money too. After that first semester, I took on the "wait a week" approach. See if your really need the book. Often times you will not. If the teacher gives you any grief, tell them you ordered it online, and it will be there soon, delay as neccessary. All told, not counting my first semester, I finished school only buying maybe 5 books after that. Be warned though, my learning style involves paying attention. I rarely took notes, because even that would distract me. Much like a conversation, I retain more when I focus soley on what is being said. You may be a person who learns more efficiently by reading. You'll figure it out! Good luck!

Well damn! BTW I was just in Michigan for the Michigan vs. Iowa game. Fun times...to bad I was working instead of partying!

You know thats pretty much what I did. I liquidated about every thing I could sell just to pay for AFF and my gear. Thank god I had very expensive hobbies before, and that is where most of my cash came from. Now, since I travel for work, I am considering just wandering between dz's with free bunkhouses!

As I read it, it seems to be the cable companies problem. Its not like he opened the cable box and "illegally" hooked himself up. They, through one screw up or another, re-connected him. Let them figure it out. Don't screw up a good thing. If he ever needs high speed interent...get DSL. Don't ever involve the cable company again...ride the free train as long as possible I have a friend who had the most basic of basic cables possible. He bough a new hi-def LCD to watch movies (he dosen't really care for anything on cable anyway). However, the digital tuner in his TV is able to recieve all the digital channels. In our area, there is no encryption. I assume, as digital ready tv's become more prevalant, the cable companies will need to start distributing Owner cards, much like satalite systems.

For some reason I thought my dad's brand new car needed washed....with rocks Had the equivlant of a low pull contest on our bikes... Lets go to the top of this hill and see who the last person to stop is That one resulted in my first aireal experience, and my first emergency room visit. When I was really young, I held in my hand a candle which had been burning for quite some time. "Hmmmm" I thought to my self, "I wonder what the bottom of this candel looks like?" As I turn it over towards myself, the burning skin on my lap quickly taught me that candle wax is extrememly hot.

"I'm going to put a for sale sign up on my property. I don't even need to, I get calls everyday," he said during the second executive session. "I can sell 100 acres for $10 million right now and I can build a whole lot better skydive center than I have now." He said a new runway would be about $250,000, and the buildings he needs could be replaced for $2 million. "And then I'll sue them and get my money back." I absolutely love that statement. I hope he could do that. The only shame in all of this is for the citizens of that city. I hope they all find out about this and scream loud enough someone in city hall hears them

Yes, I've even had the double coyote ugly.... The chick was so ugly you gnawed one of your arms off to get away from her... Then once outside you gnaw your other arm off beause you know she'll be looking for a one armed man And yes, I've been there in college when they would try to meet back up with you. Even worse when you have a known party house...so there is no hiding...THEY KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!!

Nervous Husband - Wife jumping, please read
peggs82 replied to Gretsch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In addition to what everyone has said, know that skydivers are a very tight knit group of people. My friends at my DZ have all but totally replaced my non-skydiving friends, because we share a very special bond. I know that these people look out for me in every way possible. Know that those same kind of people are looking out for your wife, and safety is on everyones mind. Like its been suggested, go to the DZ. Meet these people. I found that exposing my concerned family members to these people. Our safety officers, and riggers as well, went a great way towards helping them deal with their concern for me. The more contact you can have with your wife's new sport will certainly help you as well. Like everyone has said, there are no guarentees, but knowledge is key. The more you and your wife know, the better you both will be! Kudos to you for being a stand up guy. I am sure it's difficult to support something you can't relate to, but know that we look after our skydiving families as best we can, and I'm sure wherever your wife jumps, there are people doing the best they can to make sure she is as safe as possible in our sport! -
From a dudes perspective.... It was shocking when my hair was first shaved off (college prank)... But 4 years later its still shaved!!! Short will grow on you, it looks good!
