Packing Precision Aerodynamics chutes ???
MotherGoose replied to MotherGoose's topic in Gear and Rigging
HUH ?? That sounds a bit odd ?? Could you elaborate ? You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. -
Now I'm really confused, S/L or AFF??
MotherGoose replied to skyflygirl1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I need some clarity here . . . does the USPA have a requirement for a packing endorsement to get the A license?? Canadian PIM's state that a packing endorsement is required . . . See PIM 1 section 3 page 7 and 8 http://www.cspa.ca/forms/PIM1.pdf also see PIM 2B section 7 page 77 http://www.cspa.ca/forms/PIM2B.pdf. Now . . . CSPA requires a packing endorsement, including a course, 10 supervised packs, a parts and nomenclature test (verbal) and a "mess test". These things are not free and we don't have full time dropzone workers like the southern states. Our staff have day jobs and their time on the weekends is valuable, therefore, there is an official packing course that students take to learn how to pack and receive their endorsement in order to achieve their A license. This course costs $85 dollars and is worth every penny because the students come out of it with a strong knowledge and ability to pack ram-air canopies. They have confidence as well as a signed endorsement that indicates their abilities. So, for arguments sake, your statement does not apply to everyone. EDIT : sorry for veering the thread off topic . . . skyflygirl, you should also consider a tandem progression, if they have them at your DZ . . . 3 tandems, 2 S/L's, then your freefalling solo . . . just a thought . . . You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. -
Packing Precision Aerodynamics chutes ???

So if I'm looking to buy a 170 for my next 200 or so jumps, would you guys recommend the Nitron?? I've flown a Crossfire II 169 for about 6 jumps now and it is ridiculously fun to fly. But I've heard great things about the Nitron. You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. -

I kinda knew it might be simple and similar to cascade line packs. I hope I'm not askling stupid questions, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the help. You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. -

Sure the slider helps to locate the riser sets, but what about the sub-sets (ie. A-B and C-D) ?? Are they easy to find and separate ?? You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. -
Packing Precision Aerodynamics chutes ???

I've packed a brand spanking new pilot 150 about 10 times now with no major complications, I mean its slippery as a MOFO but I get the job done. I wouldn't have a problem with new ZP, i'm just having trouble picturing the line sets on a continuous line configuration and separating them for a propack. I may be making a big deal out of nothing, obviously you are indicating that there is no major difference. You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. -

Nor have I . . . I simply wondered if there was a different pro-packing technique without cascades. You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. -

Namely the Nitron . . . is it more or less difficult to pack these canopies that have the continuous Technora line configuration?? Im interested in this canopy in the future but I wonder if the lack of cascades in the suspension lines has a dramatic effect in packing it?? You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. -
But the original post says UNLIMITED CASH and running costs DON'T MATTER. If that's the case . . . round up those 5 HERC's from the world record jumps in Thailand . . . those would be great for SUNSET HOP n POPS !!! I'd love to jump with shades, and most of my friends do, but the times that I have used my Ryder's with a geek strap, there's always been a bit of movement or a shift of the glasses in freefall that has caused me to break concentration from what I was doing and focus on keeping the shades on my face. That's pretty dangerous. I don't want to worry about my shades when I'm falling 120+ mph towards earth . . . I'll stick to my SORZ . . . they are comfy and not too bulky or ugly. Dont forget . . . 6.) Rent Terminal Velocity, Dropzone, Point Break and Cutaway again and laugh your ass off until the wee hours of the morning !!! You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed.

Sprained foot/ hurt knee- how long to wait?

Wise buddhist skydiver, Swoopius, once said . . . "it's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground !!" You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. -
I had a friend who jumped there last year . . . kinda shady . . . No they don't jump rounds, there are some highly skilled skydivers in cuba, but their regulations are a bit more relaxed, so I wouldn't particularily trust rental gear. I would work on borrowing a friends rig to jump down there. But hey, what would be more thrilling than jumping a rig you don't trust . . . main and reserve . . . it might add to your adrenaline rush ?? So at the time of this post, there are only 10 single females out there looking for a skydiver. That's pretty bleak. There are 23 single males looking for a skydiver . . . leaving 13 to their "own device". Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I am well aware of the fact that skydiving is not a sport that offers much opportunity to meet women. This poll has proven other things as well. There are obviously a lot of successful skydiver relationships out there and that is pretty good to know. To all those who have found a way to make it happen . . . enjoy it while it lasts . . .

What Really Dumb Things did You do as a Kid?

Almost everything I am reading here sounds like the average weekend at my DZ . . . hmmmmmm You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed. -
I knew I forgot something . . . how about, divorced male, looking to throw ex-wife out of plane without a rig on. Too long ?? yah I know . . . it's good to see that at the time of this post 14% of people out there have given up hope in meaningful relationships like I have . . . You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed.

Whoa Dave . . . I think I need a nap after that . I think I get you though . . . . . like I said in the other thread . . . H-O-P-E-L-E-S-S. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. It's the ol' double-ended sword trick You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed.

Yah, binary code is a clever way to put that statement. I guess he's trying to find all the adventurous yet computer savvy ladies . . . EDIT . . . sorry Thanatos . . . but I'm giving it away . . . http://www.adcott.net/binary/ You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed.

FRICKIN' GREAT !!! Not only are the female numbers in skydiving alarmingly low, but now the few existing sky-chicks are gonna go lesbo ??? I quit . . . You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed.

I would like to reiterate option one . . . Single for life . . . that one includes the people that just spend their lives having one-nighter's with students without any meaningful relationships . . . but its not exclusive to those people . . . you can just be completely anti-social as well . You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed.

oops . . . you mean like married to a non-skydiver, but dating a skydiver ??? I can't believe I didn't think of that . . . You think you understand the situation, but what you don't understand, is that the situation just changed.
