Taking a Chicken on a Skydive -- Animal Cruelty?
yarak replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
any learning or association that a chicken is capable of is purely for the sake of finding food and avoiding predators. I assure you that a chicken is not capable of the emotional range of a dog. Try teaching a chicken to sit and rollover or even house train one. I assure you much more difficult. The reason being?.....easy. chikens are not responsive to emotions. A chicken doesnt know or care when you are sad or happy. A dog has the perception for these feelings and wants to please you. Therefore it is willing to learn how. I do agree that a chicken that has received zero physical harm and only slight mental disruption fails in comparison to what happens to millions of them each year. I doubt this chicken even remembered the skydive 20 minutes after it happened. I know people that didnt remeber the first 30 seconds of a skydive 30 seconds after it happened. Taking a Chicken on a Skydive -- Animal Cruelty?

first let me say that i was on that jump, and i thought i was going to puke from laughing so hard. The rooster is back in the barnyard and is doing fine. I think he even scored some hens from it. I designed the harness for the safety of the rooster. I am the avian expert that was in charge of the roosters safety. I designed the harness based from a ancient design that was originally used to protect pigeons from raptor attacks. Then i modified it to handle the pressures that would be exerted during freefall. The tether point was positioned carefully to ensure that the wieght and pressure was distrubeted evenly across the weight bearing portions of the skeletal system. The wings on a chicken while of little use flying, still have a great range of motion. The wings were never overextended in any way. He used them that very night to fly up to his perch. As far as what the chickens perception was...........I think most of the people here have it right. Chickens are so simplistic in thought that its almost sad. I'm sure the wind in the chickens face obstructed his view, so he had no perception of where he was. The only thing that seemed to make him uncomfortable was a lack of footing. He kept just feeling for something to stand on. Having years of experience studying birds and their behavior. I have to agree with the posters that said chickens only eat, breed, and avoid any thing that might be a predator. These are the simplist of instincts. These chickens are use to human presence so I doubt they register us as predators. Hell these things are almost hand fed. If anything we are a food source to them. In conclusion, since there were no birds of prey, foxes, cats, snakes, or colonel sanders on the skydive I doubt that it ever registered any real fear. Its behavior was normal immediately after landing. I really beleive that if his feet had been touching something that it wouldnt be much different than a chicken being outside during a really windy day. P.s. chickens only see well close up anyway. so he had no clue he was 14000 ft. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down. -

Skyride Dropzone Coming to Prattville, Alabama?
yarak replied to FireMedicJumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
well its obvious you are wound up too tight and you are certainly a loose cannon. I guess you can come on here and call me a thief or scum or any other asinine assumptions. Personally i dont care. I just want to skydive, So Abbreviated PA removed by slotperfect! I guess im a bad person. I would like to thank you in all your infinite wisdom for pointing it out to me. Now that i know i will try not to lose too much sleep. All i know is that while i've been at Pell City, we have taken alot of people on cheap tandems and introduced alot of people to the sport. I can say from first hand experience that most of our tandems are within a 3 hr driving range. Hell i drive 2 hrs to get there myself. Most problems we have are the same that any DZ has.........weather problems, plane problems, etc, etc. 99% of the people that leave that place, leave with a smile on there face so complain all you want. Meanwhile i'll keep enjoying skydiving my butt off and taking hordes of people on there first jump. Also, there is a reason why you see alot of low post number people come on here and defend places like pell city(which isnt skyride, they arent the same thing) first of all, no one listens or is able to reasonably discuss anything. You guys instantly jump on the bash skyride and anyone linked to them bandwagon. Let me apologize right now for making more skydives than i do post. Unlike some on here i am current. second, after being called thieves and scum and being the target of your ignorant assumptions, most us come to the determination that we are better people than you . We would never treat you that way no matter where your home DZ was or where you needed to be to make a living. Or who happened to own the business you worked for. To us you would just be another fellow skydiver. Sorry you dont feel the same about us. I urge chris, flailmonkey and all other good people from pell city to stop posting here from this point on. We are nicer better people than these judgemental hate mongers. the best thing we can do is stop fueling there hate with our post. afterall, we know the real truth. These people dont care and dont want to hear it. They have made up there minds without even visiting our operation. So lets take our low post number asses to prattville and make it a great place I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down. -

i would say something but my post keep getting deleted. The moderators like to protect the "regular" posters. I cant post anything negative about someone but stratostar can call all the staff and jumpers at ASC thieves and scum, without any provacation. I assure you we wouldnt steal your rig.........its probably a piece of crap anyway! I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down. -

nice post flail monkey. Its nice to see something posted here that is real, and tells simple facts that pertain to the subject. As usuall someone(billy) had to add his hateful spin to it. Cspence was right billy totally missed the point. Actually he probably didnt care about the point he just saw an opportunity to be hateful. And yes there were other reasons. Lots of skydiving is about the socializing and partying with your friends. The DZ at pell city always tried to stay within certain limits with its after ours activities, and always respected the airports rules. Everyone that has been involved with this DZ every weekend knows the truth about it. Its nice to see someone distinguish between skyride and the jumpers at Pell city. They are two seperate topics. I dont know why billy is so upset about pell city airport, he never skydives anyway. Hes too busy hiding behind is computer being hateful to those of us that do. Maybe when Alabama skydive center is in prattville billy will make it out to visit. I'm sure lots of jumpers there will have some things to discuss with him about the lies he has told here. Lies about the airports history with other DZ's. Lies about this DZ, pilots, and the jumpers who jump there. Im quite sure they wont appreciate you implying that they are such bad people that they caused the airports decision to develop the landing area. Anyone who actually visited our DZ would know that 98% of the nights were quiet and low key with a small fire in the winter and 8 or 9 people sitting around it. In the summer we stay in the air condition and watch videos, usually retiring early to get rested from a big day of skydiving and to get ready for the next busy day. As usual people read into flail monkeys post to try to find there own reasons the DZ is moving. In case you didnt understand they partied it up because it was the last night there. No one ever drag raced on the runway or anything stupid like that. thanks to flail monkey for having a reasonable and contributing post that was on topic I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down. -

I like skydive alabama and Pell City. Too me they both have the same friendly feel to them. As far as supporting skyride goes, I dont really think the 20 bucks you pay as a fun jumper will hardly cover the fuel cost. Your money isnt going to B&C, it goes to the airport fuel sales. You are basically just renting the plane from the airport. I'm sure we all send money to worse people every day. Like the IRS, or the credit card company, or the insurance company, etc. etc. etc. Who knows how many assholes are ripping us off and spending our money. Its a part of life. All i know is I pay 20 bucks and i go to 14500 ft. I've yet to pay my money and then have them tell me i couldnt get on the plane. I know the post that the moderator deleted. It was off topic but it was funny as hell. It think its kind of unfair though. From what i can tell there are alot of off topic post on here. I think there is alot of bias here. Earlier there was a ugly personal attack against horseface rob from this jmiracle person. I dont know what that was all about but it should have been deleted. this is not the place to air your dirty personal laundry. I'm sure there are 2 sides to the story. Seems to me the people that spend large portions of their lives posting get preferential treatment. Personally I dont know how any one can be mad about having a choice of turbine DZ's in their state. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
