  1. I think I understand what you are saying freefly mickey. Skydiving is dangerous. ITs suppose to be! Thats how the general public wants to think of it. If it werent dangerous and "crazy" then no one would want to come out and do tandems or learn to skydive. its the overcoming of that danger that gives us the gratification we get from skydivng. If that danger didnt exist, then no one would give a crap about coming to learn to skydive. SO everytime the media highlights a skydiving accident, they are reinforcing this "appeal" to the thrill seeker types. The people that would never consider skydivng werent going to come out anyway. At the same time it sucks when the bystanders get hurt. As far as seeing something "traumatic" at a demo. I dont buy that line of crap. Most of those people watching are actually hoping you will crash. Humans love carnage. I dont think freeflymickey is wrong...I just think there is more than one way to look at this. No single action has only one effect. If you think of these incidents only as "blackeyes" then you are close minded. Try thinking of them as the reality of an inherantly dangerous sport And a reminder that it can happen to you! Because ultimately thats all they are. I think Pennywise said it best "a body in the street is free publicity" I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  2. yay for boobies I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  3. gold coast is awesome. It would be hard not to like it there. Dont worry about the all caps. the mere concept that one could be "shouting" on the internet and the fact that some people felt it neccessary to comment on it, is simpy the most retarded thing I've seen in quite a while. If you were shouting it out loud at home as you typed it, then that is fine with me. It was no more audible when i read it in caps then it woud have been if I had read it in lower case. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  4. Ive done a couple of side door exits, One good, one bad. Its not easy and will more than likely be a waste of time. If you want a real challenge try taking a raft uninflated out the door of a king air and inflating it in freefall. Then put people in it. That takes coordination. But to answer your question: "What happens to the raft"? It suffers a hard impact and becomes retarded. Cyn, people on here rarely give good advice. They are all so sensitive. They dont really care about helping you. They would rather try to tear your post apart some way and pick at it like vultures on a carcass. They will take things out of context quicker than a angry girlfriend. There are some helpful people here but most just want to try to act like they know it all and those people have very self righteous attitudes. Its been proven that there is a certain personality type that you find dominating forums. These people prove that study right. If you want some good advice you should keep your search confined to your local DZ. Ask people there that you know, trust, and respect. Advice that you get here can ony be taken with a grain of salt, simply because you do not know these people. I dont care what the jump number in thier profile says, That doesnt prove experience in a specific area, currency, intelligence, or correctness. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  5. Hey brainiac......I was just joking around. Did you seriously think I was being for real? Talk about ignorant. My comments are light hearted and far from ignorant. Just because you are too tightly wound (or too dumb) to get them doesnt make them ignorant. Also, I dont think cycling shorts would be considered protective gear,............. unless you are refering to birth control. Too clear things up, I'll answer your question. "Am i really ignorant enough to think that others would jump with bindfolds?" ........Well no I dont. Its called a joke. Of course I dont expect you to understand because apparently your brain has been blindfolded. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  6. Wow! I'm glad I dont jump at your DZ. Cycling shorts and rash gaurds? Once again......Wow! thats gay! Do other jumpers at your DZ jump with blindfolds? I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  7. For all you self righteous opinionated "professionals" That want to turn the DZ into a military academy.............You should look closer at that pic. That guy is definately crossing his fingers. Although, I'm sure he is giving you guys the finger right now. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  8. _ _________________________________________________ I'm not quite sure what you want me too say? I wasnt being ignorant towards you. I just simply thohgt you were overreacting. You called someone a peice of shit. I think that was uncalled for. Everyone uses bad judgement occasionally, doesnt mean they are a peice of shit........ just human. As far as my statements go, they are valid statistically speaking. I'm not condoning or condeming FF tandems. I simply think you overreacted. I hope this sastifies your strange fascination with me responding to you. Please dont kill me in my sleep, cause I fear you are disturbed I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  9. hillarious......you guys ripped that guy apart for nothing. HAHA I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  10. its knit without the K I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  11. hell yeah. I like your style I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  12. good post April Its good to see a level headed reasonable person on here. You totally get it, thank you! billy, my math post was funny though. thats the difference. Also you are not an instructor so why are you posting here? You only came here to try to start something. We are having a real discussion and your distraction is not needed. I guess when its all said and done, you will never please everyone with your answers. Especially in a world of know it alls, self righteous forum posters, and 20/20 hindsight. If he had told the truth there would be people here saying he shouldnt have mentioned the possibilities. If he goes into explanation then it gets chopped by the editors adn is shown completely out of context. Then he would get crucified for that. He had a brief moment to come up wiht a short simple answer. If he had danced around the question or replied with some witty retort, people would accussed him of not being upfront about the question. Once again people would have said he lied. Basically no matter what he said the crowd on this site was going to have a "better" answer. I think he told the truth the best he could. This is the true answer: "no one has fallen out except one fat person and a cripple" Is that the answer you guys wanted to hear on CNN? Maybe there is a better way to handle it but I think the TM did fine. The bottom line is how you answer that question correctly is a matter of opinion. I dont think there is a right or wrong on that one. People will have differences of opinion. Also how do you know that the TM didnt tell the student about the rare cases? Maybe he did clarify his answer to her afterwards and that boring footage was simply left on the cutting room floor. They only have so much time for a story you know? Anyway, its sad that skydivers are taking what is positive skydivng exposure and trying to nit pick it to something negative. Arent there enough negative reports about skydiving. Like fat people and cripples falling out of harness's? Which by the way CNN reported about the lady that fell out so technically they should have already known it was "possible". I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  13. wow one intelligent response and one nit picking moronic response. Sorry I didnt get the decimal right and sorry that you you took the time to do the math. I wasnt lying, I was being sarcastic and using that wild estimation for dramatic effect. the true percentage would still be astronomical odds. And those two fatalities were special cases. You can still call me a liar if you want, but I think most people with a fully functioning brain knew that my number was a dramatic estimation. Used only to get a point across. I'm not sure how I'm responsible for lawyers having it easy? I'm just pointing out the fact that we live in a world of blown proportions and its getting old. Therefore I cant stand to support people that blow things out of proportion. Tom is right, the question could have been danced around. What I am saying, is that his answer was closer to the truth than it was a lie. And to be put on the spot on a TV interview I think he did fine. I just dont think this was a significant enough statement to make fuss over or to start a thread over. Thanks Tom for making a reasonable post. Remster, I obviously struck a nerve with you. You must have felt I was being harsh with the original poster. I suppose you are his friend and you are sticking up for him. It makes sense, I heard you were an emotional guy. Anyway, the fact you would take a obvious example percentage that was thrown in for effect and actually do math that involved total world wide tandem numbers completely verifies your nit picking tendencies. At least you called yourself out on it though. I swear, the moment i read trillions and you admited you did the math. I laughed uncontrolably then felt a little sorry for you. I have to discredit your post now. I mean come on you cant be taken seriously and be a veiled PA removed by slotperfect. It just doesnt work. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  14. well I dont think anyone told her that she couldnt be injured, just that she wouldnt fall out of the harness. Which is %99.9999999999999999999999 true. I swear, some people get on here and nit pick every little thing in the world. So what he told her that she couldnt fall out of the harness. If she was of appropriate health and the harness was used properly then I would say he told the truth. Would you perfered him tell the truth like this: "not a chance, unless you are fat or crippled" I'd say his discretion was the best approach. You just took a positive skydiving report and are lettng your ego turn it negative. Probably because you are jealous that it wasnt you on TV. Its funny to see people on here second guessing how an instructor should have answered a question that was asked light heartedly. I mean did his answer really offend you so much that you thought you should start a thread about this "crisis". What am i saying? I'm sure you could have done a perfect job and answered all the questions perfectly and stunned the tv audience with your amazing wit. Then you would prove to everyone how amazingly perfect and righteous you are. Seriously, would you have perfered that instructor to say yes it is possible, then go into detail about the special circumstances that were involved in those accidents? Are you dumb enough to think they would have aired that long drawn out answer? NO they would have just cut it at "yes it is possible". Then every whuffo watching thinks there is a legitimate chance of falling out. That would be a greater misrepresentation of the sport. People that nit pick like you are the reason why we will all have to have lawyers write preapproved answers for us one day. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  15. wouldnt call it indifference, I just think some posters blew it out of proportion. I stand by the FACT that head down tandems have not contributed to the incident reports in any measureable way (if ever). I wont be doing them, mostly because I dont see the point. It makes the video suck too. ALso: peoples lack of reading comprehension on here is bothersome. Totally missed my point about the hair plugs. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  16. one out of a kazillion isnt so bad. Dont know if he was tryin head down or not but it doesnt seems to be the case. A delayed response seems primarily to have caused that. you will never take the human element out of skydiving. Panic response cant accurately be predicted. Truth be known more sidespins are probably caused by lazy "standard" exits. then headdown tandem attempts. A head down tandem will probably have a TM paying more attention to his exit than just another "standard" exit. Laziness and complacency create side spins. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  17. anyway....how about that hair line? WOW! I mean really......shave that sh@t off or ante up for the rest of those hair plugs. I'll be damned if I would walk around with a scalp halo. WTF! Looks like some kind of race track for lice. melonapolis 500. by the way, the only thing mr clawson is a piece of sh@t for is making a 10 minute tandem video. Jesus christ, I had watch it 4 times before i stayed awake long enough to get to the skydive. I especially love the shot of his feet as he walks through the grass. What lovely grass! I dont get it. I call penalty for excessive B-roll I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  18. someone needs to lighten up. Are you an instructor? have you ever done a tandem? If not go to another forum. Did it end up in a side spin?....NO! What do you really know about side spins? Ever been in one? How many tandem fatalities happen in this country every year from freefall stability problems? Exactly!!! I hate to inform you, but it wasnt as dangerous as you are acting like it is. I've never done a head down tandem. But i'm sure the instructors that have, dont make a habit of it. I doubt the increased risk of a competent flyer that does an occasional head down tandem is even measureable. probably like %.00001 disclaimer: head down tandems are dangerous and should not be attempted. HAHA I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  19. yea......... pretty much I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  20. the first one didnt look lke anything like an experienced jumper. The instructor rocked it out though. I dont think its that big of a deal if someone does it every now and then. ITs slightly more dangerous but not alot. what are the odds of a premature on a good, well maintained system? Anyway I was to distracted by the interesting hair line and the serious camera equipment someone was sporting on the ground. the second video was super LAME and had the makings of a cluster f@ck. And YES the music sucked on both. I dont think Thats the music that was originally on the video though. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  21. good call that is odd. Once again a strange inconsistency I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  22. its speculated that dyters cause brain cancer I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  23. thank you. I find it odd too. I know people like TLA's and I agree. But they could have named it AFP(accelerated freefall program), AFC(accelerated freefall course), ACT(accelerated freefall training) or about 50 other things that would have maintained a sense of consistent grammer. Anyway, some might think AF or IAFF looks dumb but at least they are gramatically consistent. I would rather my training program acronyms look dumb, then have my organization leaders look uneducated. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  24. I titled this "anyone else find this odd" but what i really meant was stupid. The AFF program stands for accelerated Freefall. IAF stands for instructor assisted freefall. shouldnt it be the AF program and the IAF program? why use FF to represent freefall in one, then use F to represent the word freefall in the other. HMMMMMMMMMMMM just seems dumb to me. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  25. back to the original question. here is one tip to help you with a student in freefall. remember that you can talk into there ear. I have given in air instruction to many students and it worked. Yell arch in there ear. If you trained them on the ground., then they will usually respond by arching. but not always HAHA. anyway, just a tip that might help you some time I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
