  1. No, we don't mind. We were wondering what's taking you so long. Pick up a weapon. Stand a post. Take some pictures for us. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  2. Ah well, fundamental difference in world view, I suppose. The rights are there. If you choose to deny mine, I'd like to try other forms of persuasion first, but, be prepared to lose your life, as I am prepared to lose mine defending them. Simple really. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  3. Your rights are an illusion maintained only because society deems it in it's interests to do so. As soon as your rights become inconvenient, the rules will be changed and your rights will vanish. You have the right to remain silent and they have the right to waterboard the information out of you. You have the right to an attourney and they have the right to exraordinary rendition. Like God, rights only exist while people believe in them. Anything that ceases to exist when people stop beliving in it can only ever be conceptual, never real. Fight all you want, that is the reality of it. The rights are always there. An individual might attempt to deny them or a group might attempt to deny them, but they are always there. Force is usually necessary in their denial, (although an insidious path through apathy makes it easier) and force is almost always required in the removal of the oppressor. Deciding where one's rights end and another's begins is mostly pretty easy, but when it's not we have a system of law. Not perfect, but the best system devised by man to date. So, you see, the rights are always there, and what it boils down to in the end is who has the biggest/coolest weapons, and who has the will to use them. And K, my answer pretty much echoes lawrocket. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  4. Your ancestors thought the same thing a few hundred years ago. And then we kicked their asses all the way back across the Atlantic. There will always be those who have your view, and hopefully, there will always be those willing to fight and die for freedom, for God given, unalienable rights. We may have to do it again soon. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  5. Oh dude - Like telling me what kind of car to drive, how much money I can make, which doctor I can use, things like that? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  6. No, Dude, you are. You guys are saying that Ensigns behavior is worse than others because he codemns others for it, yet both examples you cite the condemnation is for criminal activity. And your buddy Lyra even admits she bashes him because he's a Republican. You need to come to her rescue again. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  7. Sounds like you guys expect better behavior from Republicans than from Democrats. I guess that's a good thing for the Republicans. And if you ladies are thinking of marrying soon - better check party affiliation. Apparently when the Dems cheat its because they don't take the vows seriously anyhow. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  8. Thats irrelavent, what I asked you two to do was provide an example of Ensign asking someone to resign because of infidelity alone, when criminal activity was not in question. You haven't. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  9. psst - dude - he was part of the Democrat controlled Senate who passed the TARP legislation! You think they did that to give power to King George? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  10. Again, is there an example of this, other than Craig (his own party and admitted to a crime) or Clinton, who again was not just a boinking but a boinking IN the wh WITH a subordinate and subsequent perjury? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  11. Let's see . . . . I can go now go buy a car from a government owned company and drive to a government owned bank, who takes its orders from the Federal Reserve which has gained more power and also has salaries set by a Geithner, who should be in jail, but was appointed by his majesty anyhow. . . . . and then maybe to the doctor, where they too will soon be taking orders from another Federal czar . . . yeah, I see your point. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  12. Actually Clinton is a bullshit example of a lack of hipocrisy anyhow. He would never condemn bad behavior because he had a known long history of it. Look, I know both sides like to point out the other side's moral failures, and it's really kinda sad. A couple of points. First, there are a lot of posters who simply love to point out a Christian's moral failures. Granted, some Christians want to claim moral high ground but they are wrong and in actuality the Bible teaches differently. We are tempted and fail at the same rate as non Christians, the difference is in our relationship with God and the result of His sacrifice. So for eduacation's sake (not necessarily you Bill) people should not equate Christianity as a statement that they will never again do anything wrong. Some infer hypocrisy simply from that. Also, I don't think it's wrong to demand high character from one another - even though it's possible we may one day succumb to temptation or lapses in judgement. As far as the Republican/conservative party of "family values" thing goes, I don't connect the errant behavior of a few with a failure of that platform. What I hope both parties will do is develop policy that promotes the family as key to the success of society. If the Reps want to claim to be the party of family values, fine, but the measure should be the legislation, (or lack thereof) not the moral failures of the individuals. 13. Ah well, about half the country wants a king, and wants to be ruled. Hopefully that'll change too. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  14. What philandering republicans do you refer to? Pre-Lewinsky, of course. Again, for most reasonable people, it was the lying before the grand jury, not the bjs, that initiated the impeachment. And, after hearing the testimony and listening to him look square into the camera - if after that you agree with the "aquittal" - ah well, there's another tired old topic. Any vote these days is irrelevant in such a partisan environment, imo. Too bad they don't just consider the evidence. I'm still waiting on links to the sermons, gay bashing, and sinner finger pointing. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  15. I've never heard Ensign preach, bash gays, or call anyone a sinner. Have you? If you have links to any speeches, please provide them. I guess you missed his comments on Clinton and Craig, both of whom he called on to resign for their pecadillos. MR. STEPHANOPOULOS: Senator Ensign, let me begin with you. One of Senator Craig's advisers is quoted in The New York Times this morning as saying, "Larry was shocked by the deafening silence by some and the rush to judgment by others, even in his own leadership." Was this a rush to judgment? SEN. ENSIGN: I don't think so, simply because Larry had admitted guilt. This wasn't like he was just charged with something, especially something that he denied. He had admitted guilt, guilt to something that I thought was not only embarrassing to himself and his family but also to the whole United States Senate. That's one of the things that I -- I'm proudest about our leadership, is the swift action, not only calling for an immediate Senate investigation, ethics investigation, removing him from his committees, but also sending the signal to him that it was probably best that he resign. It was best for himself, best for his family, and best for the institution of the Senate. Maybe it's just because they don't believe in preaching to others on moral issues, like Ensign did. The issue is hypocrisy, not fidelity. Two different issues. Craig admitted to a CRIME. He should resign, unquestionably. Clinton was impeached for the crime of perjury. I won't argue the hypocrisy, but arguing that Ensign is more hypocritical than Edwards or Clinton is absurd. What's the difference? They all attend church, all married in church, all took similar vows. So the question was, what in your mind makes them less culpable of hypocrisy? Were they all not living in lies? 16. Don't waste your time. They key on the use of the word "unprecedented" rather than on the content of the broadcast. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  17. That's good! But a little Michael Moorish in the editing, no? The content of the interviews would tell the tale. If Bush is presenting an unopposed infomercial on his policy and agenda, then I'd say Fox is caught. But - all they could come up with is 43 on a bike and sitting at his desk......And DC on the jet..... Hmmmm. Does anyone remember or have a link to the content? OK there's some "footage," but very little actual content. None actually. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  18. I've never heard Ensign preach, bash gays, or call anyone a sinner. Have you? If you have links to any speeches, please provide them. Are you saying that Democrats don't take a stand on fidelity because they know one day they are likely to get caught or because they don't think it's very important? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  19. You're right. Why stop with one nation and just a few generations in the past? As a member of the human race, I hereby apologize for ALL of the misdeeds any human has ever done to another. For all of the Africans who sold their brothers into slavery, for slavery itself, and for Hitler's shenanigans, Vlad the impaler - HE was a nasty one. Oh and last but not least for Carl Sagan. I apologize to all the alien life forms for all those SETI radio waves that keep fucking up your tv signals. I think that about covers it. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  20. Impossible. He's not the correct color. Then again, are redneck's considered people of color? We may have just created the newest class of victim. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  21. LMAO - I bet that redneck Governor can spell "too." The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  22. Here here. And I was also wondering, 360,000 Union soldiers killed and 275,000 wounded - is that meaningless? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  23. What an elitist bitch. My guess is the general has worked harder in any given month than the "senator" ever has. Thank goodness he has the character to resist reaching out and crushing her royal head. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  24. Not sure it was only the Rachel Madeux show or if all the media coverage of the speech had it - but a digital banner across the bottom of the screen read "Barack Husein Obama." This past summer he and the media all but outlawed his middle name. That's what I want in a president - a chameleon. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
  25. I'm with you Mike. You're exactly right, and you've obviously made a point that causes the libs to revert to the standard tactic of shifting the target. AND knocked the moderator so far off balance he won't even call a PA. Nice. 10 to 1 it took some staffer to convince Obama - finally - to say SOMETHING about the murdered soldier. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
