I lost two buddies in that war. And another was taken prisoner after getting shot down. I guess "easy" depends on where you are sitting. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

You've been enjoying jumping for 33 years. From what? An airplane powered by rubber bands? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

I report, you decide. Pretty logical conclusion, though. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

I just watched Carol Browner give an interview where she stated that "make no mistake - the government is in charge here." She was answering allegations that the Obama administration hasn't been involved, so she told of how there was a WH think tank with over 100 scientists in charge of the effort to plug the leak. Says BP has all the heavy equipment but the Feds have been in charge all along. Who's inept, again? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

Yeah, I was curious what they were talking about myself. A BDIF with no supporting facts. Here's an interesting sidenote to the preceding story of how Obama got Alice Palmer kicked off the ballot for Illinois state senator. That came about because she decided to run for Mel Reynolds's US Congressional seat. Mel, if you remember was sent to the Federal pen for a whole slew of problems, including sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography. Alice decided to run for that seat and endorsed her freind, a young, up and coming community organizer named Barack Obama to fill her vacancy in the Illinois senate. Here's where the story gets a bit more shady. She lost dismally in her bid for Reynold's seat, and decided she wanted to get her old job back. As a thank you for endorsing him, Obama used the petition rules to get her kicked off the ballot. Isn't that a friend we'd all like to have? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

That's the Chicago way! If you remember, Obama got his opponents kicked off the ballot for his first elected position in Chicago. What it boils down to is he hired a few lawyers to strike names from his competition's petitions for misspellings, etc., until they didn't have enough to qualify. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/29/obamas.first.campaign/index.html#cnnSTCVideo I was expecting so much more after that speech in front of the Roman columns. A new era of American politics was to begin! I thought he had changed...... The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

Looks like BalarinaBoy enlisted the help of Clinton for this one. Good choice. If there's a subpoena we'll have to filter through several definintions of "IS" The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

Once it crosses certain boundaries, it becomes trying to influence the outcome of an election through illegal means. It's a felony. They probably did it, but they are very careful about not getting caught, so they most likely will get away with it. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

Japanese Whale Catch down by half - Good Job Sea Sheperds
TankBuster replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
A common tactic of the Sea Shepherds was to try to foul the prop of the Japanese boats with a cable. During a storm a ship with no power is a sitting duck - unable to steer and subject to being swamped. Should the Japanese captain not attempt to defend themselves? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer. -
Japanese Whale Catch down by half - Good Job Sea Sheperds

I watched every episode - mainly for the comedic value. What a hoot. A couple of hot girls, but for the most part - a bunch of nerds/eco-terrorist wannabes who screwed up about everything they touched. After the first episode where they tried to launch the zodiac and ended up dumping all the crew into the frigid water - I was hooked. Then there was the time they had to call the Nisshin and enlist their help to try to find the boat that was sent out to harass them. I'm totally against whaling, but I'm amazed that the Japanese captain showed such restraint when these idiots were endangering his crew and vessel. I hope they get their asses handed to them in court as much as they did on the high seas. There seems to be much more effective ways to impact the whaling. I think the show was much more about making money than anything. I'd like to see where that money went. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer. -
Key Components of the New Health Care Legislation
TankBuster replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
Are you simply stating the fact that Bush was president during the collapse, or are you implying he is responsible for it? If the latter is the case, that's a very unsophisticated view of economics. Economies are in a constant state of fluctuation between highs and lows. If one wanted to lay blame, would it not be more accurate to blame the house and senate? Which were controlled for two years prior by the Democrat party? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer. -
There's a difference between healthcare and health insurance. Yes, I have healthcare insurance, it's a very good plan, (given the current state of government intrusion) and the same policy is part of my employee's compensation package. It's where we contract with a private company to cover the major expenses of an illness. It mitigates some of the financial risk of illness, but not all of it. As an independent and free man, I'm happy with the contract. I would, however, prefer that my state government stay out of it so that I could purchase insurance coverage for only what I consider to be mine and my family's greatest risks. Cancer, major surgeries, etc, not chiropractic, dental, etc. Those I can cover out of my pocket. I'd also prefer that they not restrict competition. Currently, I have access to the best healthcare that the world has to offer. I believe that will change drastically in the near future. Something is going to ration healthcare, which, no matter how badly the liberals want it to be a "right", is simply a market commodity. It will either be rationed by the free market, or some government entity. Since the free market is being severely inhibited, we are shifting toward the goverment entity. The IRS will play a major role according to this bill, and in the future it will be worse. I take Mr. Obama at his word when he says that he wants a government takeover - a single payer system, and that the best way to do that is in stages. Welcome to stage one. So my vote - Have insurance, hate the takover. Your results mirror the polls taken during the debate over this bill. The majority oppose it. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

now... I'll be the first one to concede this was a campaign promise, and should never have been believed in the first place. But to all the Obama fans, is there any other explanation than this is a broken campaign promise? For other bills that he's broken this promise on they've claimed technical issues posting bills, but the bill hasn't even been on his desk 5 days much less posted. Why worry about another little lie? Why would anyone want to know what is in the bill? Our lawmakers know what's best for us. They are much more capable of running our lives than we are. Just go with it. From mybarackobama.com "I'm asking you to believe, not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington, I'm asking you to believe in yours." Uh HUH. He's changed what? Turned it into Chicago. Capone had nothing on the chosen one. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

It's a little hard to conceal a car in your waistband. But, on the other hand, you are not required to get a license to use your gun on public property, you don't have to pay sales tax on it every time it changes hands, there is no title to transfer,.... It's not necessary that I conceal my car if I desire to off a bunch of people with it. Matter of fact, given the right conditions I could injure/kill more with the car. Absolutely 100% true!

It's not necessary that I conceal my car if I desire to off a bunch of people with it. Matter of fact, given the right conditions I could injure/kill more with the car. That's as maybe. However, guns are the instrument of choice for murder in the USA. TWICE as many murders committed with guns than ALL others combined, according to the FBI. Also robberies are generally committed using guns rather than, say, swimming pools. So when it comes to setting priorities, it's pretty clear what needs to be addressed first. The original idea was keeping dangerous items out of the hands of people with psych problems. Murderers and robbers are usually only resorting to those activities because they are downtrodden and haven't been properly educated/coddled by the government. It's Time to Enact Health Care Reform With 51 Senate Votes
TankBuster replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
Tell ya what. There are a significant number of poor people around. And I'm sorry the Dems totally fucked it up, (all they really had to do was expand Medicaid with some of that spendulus bill). You seem to be a compassionate, gutsy guy/gal. Try this. Instead of forcing "wealthy" Americans to pay for it, go gather a large band of similarly compassionate, gutsy liberals together and go take it from someone else. Arm yourselves well, go to Mexico, Canada, Japan, wherever you think you will find less resistance and more buck for your bang, and tell em - "we know of a bunch of poor Americans and we want to get them medical coverage so we're here to take your money!" K? The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer. -
It's Time to Enact Health Care Reform With 51 Senate Votes
TankBuster replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
Seeing as how the Dems STILL have a majority in the House and until very recently had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, why don't you explain just HOW the Repubs have been 'cock-blocking' anything? Well? Actually I agree with you LaLa. It IS time to reform our health care system. Put limits on punitive damages for malpractice suits, remove all barriers to competition among the insurance companies. Otherwise get the Federal and State governments the hell out of the way of those of us who don't need nanny government to wipe our ass. You guys must have a severe case of diaper rash. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer. -
For a small scale uprising, let's say some Texas militia decides to revolt, how many days do you think they'd last? Seriously. 30? They wouldn't have control of the air at all. If they were holed up at their "training facility" the government would simply surround them. Eventually, somebody inside their compound would start shooting and at that point it would be over and trust me, the US government would not lose. The only way a "revolt" could possibly work would be if it were nation-wide, but even then I think the US Government ultimately still has the upper hand. Your assuming the Millitary would follow a corrupt goverment. Whoever would have thought that the proud German military high command would follow a psychotic corporal. Which is exactly why we have the 2nd amendment and many of us would never obey an order to surrender our weapons. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
