  1. Rob, They are 350 lb. They are rated at 85% of their actual tensile strength when new. I believe the spec sheets state a 420 lb break test. Blue ones, MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  2. Beezy, I will stop by. I also will bring a sample of our stuff. Ours is a coating, always has been.It also IS UV coating. As noted by several people, ours has a tackiness to it. Call it what you want, we were the first to put colored coatings on the Technora. (your turn) MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  3. Beezy, I know you're kidding! I did help him! I told him any manufacturer could braid it! That's the only way I can help him!
  4. Alexey, First, let me begin by stating I am willing to help you in any way I can. With that said, I cannot release info that I have spent large amounts of money and time developing to someone that wants produce the same end product. Technora can be produced by any braid manufacturer that has the fiber available, so check around in your country for that. The amount of weight and the amount of stretch per inch computation is basically for in-house knowledge only. Sorry! BS, MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com

  6. Chad, Contact Dave Dewolf in Elizabettown. He may have the info on that machine. I have some extra machines here that I am getting rid of. Maybe something of interest to you also! 7. Gus, That is a good question. Also the next question is raised. Will the CPC Non - crossbraced canopies be allowed to be "pimped up" with Technora and RDS systems??? Advantages- Longer line life - faster - goes further distances Disadvantages - higher inital cost of the line set, more attention to detail while packing and stowing the lines, higher probablity of line breakage if you do have a tension knot. 8. Hey, Why aren't you working at the lake like you are supposed to be!! Get back to work like the rest of us! MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  9. Paul, Tension knots have not been reported as being a problem. I have not had a single report to that effect. I am sure someone somewhere as had one though. As line gets smaller and becomes more like string, the probablity of tension knots grows greatly. Actually, the actions of properly hooking up the RDS has been less of a problem that I thought would be the case. I know of two incidents only. The tackiness of the UV coating goes away in 30-50 jumps usually. MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com

  11. We reline them here at Skyworks. We also do the "H" Mod if needed. Reline choice of Vectran, HMA, or Spectra. Takes about a week in and out. Thanks, MEL Skyworks Parachute Service www.skyworksrigging.com Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  12. The heck with Joe... I wanta copy! MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  13. Stu, Yes, we (Joe bennett and myself) have tried some different trims among other things. Things tried: Velo- added some line length 5cm,7cm, and 18 cm - different Brake settings - slider sizes VX - Added line length 7cm, 12cm,and 18cm - different trim FX- same as VX The Velo seems to like the stock length and 5cm added length better than anything longer than 5cm. Brake settings were covered in another thread. We have had a couple of users want smaller sliders installed as the HMA makes the openings longer. We worked on that last week. VX- We have come up with a new trim that I have sent to Jyro in NZ to check out. I have one canopy here with it and it screams. There is another with the same trim in the Atlanta area. Ryan Clough is currently jumping it. I will not install this trim on other canopies until further testing is complete. The VX and the FX do fly better with some added length though. IMHO 12cm is the ticket. MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  14. An average of about 8-11 mph, 60-80 feet added distance, and longer line life IF they have a UV coating on them. Results may vary!!!!
  15. For you guys out there now using Technora: 1. Do you feel that the benefits are worth the added costs and will you continue to purchase them based on your limited experience? 2.For the guys using my stuff, how much speed did you pick up. 3. How much distance did you gain on the average? There has never really been a discussion talking about true numbers here. I want to compare the "field" data with my numbers here. Thanks, MEL Skyworks Parachute Service "The Icarus Service Center" Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  16. Vectran MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  17. I agree...check them. I personally have never seen Vectran break at the A/B from a front riser Turn , but I think it's possible if worn enough. I have seen it on the tandem canopies there from the openings. Actually the canopies that come from Spain are made like PD canopies; in two lower pieces. If the canopy is from NZ or relined at the Sevice Center it is one piece for better wear purposes. That's also my opinion. I do see the average jumper get relines between 500 and 800 jumps depending on the enviroment in which he or she jumps. 18. Pops, Not at all! Just wondering. "cause that's exactly what I've been doing for about 3 1/2 years or more. I've learned a lot more than I intended to about different braids and materials. MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  19. Pops, So what is your agenda on this? What are you going to do once you acquired the data? MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  20. Pops, Why "re-invent the wheel"? Most manufacturer;s have already been down that trail, so they have the info that you need. I guess my question is why don't you go to the different manufacturer's and ask them why they use the materials that they do? Just curious! MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
  21. We might just have to "pimp his canopy ride" with Technora and an RDS. That would be interesting, a Sabre 2 winning the swoop meets!!! Congratulations and good job down there guys! 22. I would be in the ranking under a 66 VX. (210 with out gear) No, I do not jump it regularly! It was sent in for a test jump and no one else would jump it FCOL. MEL Skyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
