  1. I totally agree, Trev. It's the perfect size camera for side-mounting as a replacement for my PC 109 (or anyone elses PC 1000). I know more than a couple of people that have bought the camera praying it would work in freefall; it simply does not.
  2. I don't know who that was directed at, but I can assure you that I do not smoke and I don't spend alot on beer. I don't "whine" about I&R prices because I don't now nor will I ever get hosed by price gougers. Michael sent me a PM earlier where he pointed out that riggers had every "right" to charge what ever the hell they felt for a service. I responded that my responding "right" was probably too strong a word, but that didn't change my opinion about this subject. Yes, most of us understand micro/macroeconomics from school and, yes, we all know that businessmen have every right to charge "what the market will bear" for their product or service. That, in my opinion does not make a "50% hike" for the I&R service right in my mind. Hell, I already feel terribly sorry for you poor bastards who jump at Perris and get routinely stuck with $75 repacks. Unbelievable. I don't know ANYONE on the east coast that pays more than $35 for a reserve repack on a sport rig. chuck

In that case I guess I am a retired travel agent!
  4. We'll split it, you can have the bigger half! I'm in.
  5. I am a static line instructor as well.
  6. A Xaos 21 is a bit more manageable than a Velo as far as openings go, but you will not get Velo distance out of a Xaos 21. A Xaos 27 is in exactly the same league as a Velo, but it opens and flys a bit differently. "Different" does not mean better or worse. I would not consider any of the three I mentioned as "too much parachute" to someone who has at least 500 jumps on an HP 9-cell (katana, mamba, crossfire/crossfire2, etc). I would not recommend ANY crossbraced canopy to ANYONE with under 1000 total skydives. In about 2000 jumps on crossbraced canopies I can't say I have ever jumped one, other than my old Icarus VX 74, which opened "bad". Yes, 27-cell crossbraced mains pack about 25% larger than 9-cells in same-size comparisons.
  7. A little smaller than the range you want, but I have a Xaos 27 80 that packs the same size as a Velo 84, that packs the same size as a Sabre2 97. Chuck
  8. I did. Aren't they headlining "South by Southwest" this year?? Negative, but I did hear that they would be performing at SkyFest
  9. My mother is. I bring her spoons from everywhere I visit around the world.
  10. That's what I want to hear. I don't care that you will have less reserves to repack. The fact of the matter is that you aren't spending any additional time packing my reserve when I bring it in and you are not providing any degree of better service than you were before. Conclusion: you have no right to jack up your price for the service. Hell, it would actually help some of the busier lofts. The ones that seem to always have a backlog of work and take two weeks to get your shit done. Most riggers I know would relish the opportunity to get out and actually make some skydives on weekends instead of being slammed with "knee work." Nearly every rigger I know also possesses instructional ratings which they get to use when they aren't so backed up in the loft. Just my opinion. Chuck
  11. That suit and the 20 solid orange ones used by the other demo jumpers were built at Tony Suits on a rush job. The silver coating on the fabric might make it ten jumps before the majority of it flakes off. It's fragile stuff.

Who is Tanya? The Boozehag of the week?
  13. I have over 1000 jumps on a Sabre2 97 and I love the openings. It must be noted that I can't touch my risers (It's my wingsuit canopy). No complaints.
  14. The soundtrack made me feel like I was watching a Superman movie! That's good stuff. To Matt: Chris had the helmet Scott is using on display at PIA. It's intended for exactly that kind of application.
  15. No. And I never, ever talked in military acronyms off duty when I was in the army either.
  16. You are a spastic monkey!
  17. I have waited a very-long time to do this: In Before The Lock That is all
  18. Go fast, take chances, and for God's sake don't wear a helmet.
  19. There are at least two Tony Suit demos that are that big. Jeff will be there with them.
  20. Mine, as seen in my avatar, is the true, old-school velvet pimp daddy.
  21. I bet there will probably be at least ten wingsuit instructors with videos on their head at this boogie.
