The big draw at the Herd Boogie was always Caribous. Not bad planes, but TERRIBLY loud (radial engines) and most had slippery ramps from hydraulic leaks. The USAPT had them as their demo team staple until they bought their Fokker F-27 Friendships. Joe Leith, an video guy (and BASE fanatic) in the old Carolina Council went in while filming an 8 or 12 man tube exit at The Halloween Boogie they used to have at Barnwell, SC in the early to mid '90s. Right on, Dove. I am still trying to find someone to split the drive. I am impossible to miss, believe me. Chuck My webpage HERE

Is it just plain rude or is it a reality of sky...
SkymonkeyONE replied to Sebazz1's topic in The Bonfire
Airplane farts are the norm. Only when you actually have to kick someone off the plane does that person rate a reprimand. It's a fact of skydiver life; live with it. My webpage HERE -
You are still required to make a minimum of two night jumps for your D-license: one solo and one relative work. Night jumps are fun. Chuck My webpage HERE

Cross-posted from the swoop forum: ATTENTION fellow Swoopers! There is a pond swoop money meet this weekend (11-13 January) at Z-hills. I just found out about it. Here are the particulars: $150 entrance fee covers seven jumps (two practice rounds and five competition rounds) $2000 (at least) in prize money Seminars by Brian Germain, Rat, J.C. (among others) The actual meet is Saturday and Sunday. No cutoff for registration apparently, so long as you can complete your rounds before sunday afternoon. I am looking for someone from NC to split driving down there with me! Call me at (910) 273-6291 if you are SERIOUSLY interested. Doesn't look like I can leave Fayetteville until around 5pm on Friday, so it will be a straight haul down there. I have a place to stay and everything. Unless I can swing it, I have to be back at work on Monday, so we will leave right after the awards and hook it up the interstate. Chuck Blue My webpage HERE

That is when you do a double-footed toe dragging turf surf and you continue to lean forward as you are dragging and eventually just end up sliding on your belly. Chuck My webpage HERE

I psycho packed my VX and never used an extension. Didn't need it the way I rolled the main. My webpage HERE

As previously stated, I didn't show up at the DZ to jump. I was wearing khaki pants and Doc Martens. Time was tight, as we were on a ten minute call, so I just changed shoes, pulled my bootie suit on over the pants and just kept the turtleneck I had on as top protection. Planned on changing into a sweatshirt for the other jumps, but it was plenty warm. Wore my factory diver and some army dress gloves. Yall know I don't wear that helmet unless it's chilly outside. Look for pictures of those jumps on the SkyKat website soon. Chuck My webpage HERE

Yesterday was a very cool day at Raeford. The entire DZ was covered in snow, but the runway was cleared so that we could jump the CASA all day. It was Tony Thacker's (Raeford DZO) 40th birthday party and we had a blast. The skydiving was excellent, the air at altitude not TOO cold, and the surf was up like you wouldn't believe. I showed up on the DZ just ten minutes before load one, so I rushed to get kitted up and go dirt dive. First load for my group was a six point seven way where we all held the last point for several thousand feet and just checked out the scenery. It was beautiful! most took the standard approach (into the wind), but about five of us ripped downwinders and left tracks all the way across the DZ. The swoop du jour was a double footer all the way to a deadman. Both Greg Windmiller and I did those all day long; very stylish and they made for some spectacular video. The snow was still dry enough that I didn't even hardly get wet! Jump two was a seven point nine-way (even though two guys flopped over the top on exit). Very nice again and equally spectacular swooping. Jump three was a three point 12 way. Of particular note here is that we had a kid with 37 jumps on all of these dives and he was there every time. True, we gave him easy moves, but he did great. Neal Beverly went out to the middle of the landing area and sculpted a very realistic three-hole qualified female snowman. Luckilly, Miss Billie didn't see it before the sun went down! NICE! The party was great. The Heaters, a prominent blues band from our area, played three sets. Tony put out a keg of free Bud Light, and Thomas Wolfe (the owner of Aviators Bar and Grill) layed out a ton of chow. In all, a very nice party and I am very happy to have attended. Hope all of you had a good wherever you are. Chuck My webpage HERE

Very dumb is correct. Yes, at the time you tell yourself that "hey, I got my gold wings, what else do I have to prove", then years later you get pissed when you see your contemporaries in the magazine getting their double ruby wings and you know you have the same experience but no stinking badges! Was that the longest run-on sentance you have ever read? My dad made the mistake of not logging for a couple of years, then trying to make it up. What a pain in the ass. I, too, fell prey the the slacker mentality for a long while and still do in one respect. I only have 2850 logged, but even worse, I have not calculated my freefall time since I had about 800 jumps. THAT is going to suck! As shitty as the weather is here today I ought to get to work on it, but I am far too lazy right now. I sent off for my gold wings on time, but never did my diamonds, or any of the freefall awards. I plan on sending all of that in with my double diamond packet. Chuck My webpage HERE

Negative, but I am seriously considering replacing both of my handles with the fabric loops that some guys jump. Chuck My webpage HERE

As a stopgap, I have discovered Cyber's site. It is outstanding, certainly as nice as this one (my home). I am not blocked from it and happily posted away all day long. That being said, I am glad that I made it to "veteran" here before I got shut out at work. That way I won't fret when all the johnny come latelys start making their runs for stardom . I still spend nearly an hour every night checking in here and posting away. Chuck My webpage HERE

Right on ,Des. What I was referring to is the inordinant amount of lineover tandem malfuntions that some of these DZ's have, ALL as a result of sloppy PRO packing. There is a point, in my opinion, where you are not gaining anything at all by hoisting the thing up in the air high enough to pack like that. Personally, I will not PRO pack a canopy larger than a 135; it's just too much hassle. Actually, that's a lie; I PRO packed my Excallibur 150 since it had no packing tabs. Also: I am proud to hear that you pack your own tandems. We both appear to be in the minority. Chuck My webpage HERE

Generally known as NACA ducts. The Lissaman airfoil was the predominant foil of the '90s, at least that is what most companies proclaimed in their ads back then. Chuck My webpage HERE

I clean my system thoroughly every time I repack my reserve. I visually inspect my system before every jump day, then as part of my pre-jump routine. On the repacks, I take my cutaway completely out and wipe the cable off with WD-40. Chuck My webpage HERE

In my opinion there are no cons to jumping a Kill line PC. Forgetting to cock it is not a good argument for someone with a good packing ethic. Chuck My webpage HERE

I will not jump soft reserve handles. I need to be able to hook a thumb in something in case my fingers get fucked up. Unlikely to happen? If you say that then you have not been smashed in a door, kicked doing 4-way, or tangled in a CRW wrap. As for the argument about metal ripcords coming undone, that's bullshit. Seat the thing and check your velcro. Just my 20-years of experience talking. Chuck My webpage HERE

1. didn't want to smash an eardrum if I chowed really hard 2. Really wanted to sport the flames since I got the custom factory hook-up. Did I say Bonehead rocks? Thanks Chris and Jeanie. My webpage HERE
