If you are using a BOC deployment you delete the "look thousand" from your count. We have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that there are FAR fewer instances of roll-overs due to de-arching while "looking" for that BOC (which you cannot see even if you try). Schools who are still using hip-mounted soft ripcord cables would be wise to do the same. Repetition of action during repeated drills and trust that the handle will be there are more than enough risk reducers to warrant removing the "look." I taught SL for many, many years with ripcord rigs and was totally fascinated how much cleaner my students' exits became when we finally switched to BOC and took out the "look." Chuck Chuck

Andy, I think that the mod that Morpheus does (just like on a Jav) would be the cleanest mod. Yes, just cutting the corners would be fine, but there is no "overlap" on the corners, so you would end up having shit showing when the rig is closed. Run over to Raeford and look at LeRoy Buckley's Jav. He had the mod done to it and it's very clean. Chuck

Swoop comp at Fantasy of FLight?
SkymonkeyONE replied to Treejumps's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I paid my entrance fee the other day...OUCH! It's raining in DeLand today, but we are driving over to Z this evening when A.C. gets in and training all week. Events are all PSN style. Chuck -
There is no turning back now. This is the REAL darkside.

You first build a four-way round, either by launching it or freeflying the exit and building it. You then, all in unison and on command of the captain, perform a backloop and re-form the 4-way round as fast as possible. Time starts when you first break the grips of the first four-way and ends when you get grips complete on the second one. This was the original form of four-way relative work competition in the world. Carolina Sky Sports owner Paul Fayard was on the team that won the first meet, IIRC. This years event also featured a "bomb drop" in which one member of the team had to fly over a painted compass rose at an altitude of NLT 500 feet and drop a paper sack of flower, thus marking their accuracy. Seconds were subtracted from your Hog Flop time for your proximity to the center of the target. Our designated team bomber, Patty, did a fantastic job and garnered us a three second advantage, thus ensuring our victory. We were not sucking in Palatka. Chuck 2003 Hog Flop Champion

a lot:11:a couple I don't know if my jump numbers are correct, but I know I bought at least two cases of beer, though I don't really have any specific reasons for doing so. This weekend was the Hog Flop boogie at Palatka. My scambles team won the meet; Katie's got second. I did a bit of everything there: BirdMan, RW, freefly, hog-flop, and even a tandem. Big Mike put us up in his camper, so life was good. Chuck

Hey, that's right. Was I fucked up? LOL....Never, right? Chuckie

As I recall, you jump a Superfly, right? The bottom of that container is very similar to a Vector 3 or a Wings, so yes, a rigger can modify your corners like mine are. Morpheus does it, as do many other riggers in Florida. Chuck

If I could have your attention for a moment...

Jimbo got such a good deal he wet his pants. -
Yes, a long bridle, packing "pin to grommet", and having dynamic corners will GREATLY reduce your chances of spinning openings while jumping a Stilleto with a wingsuit. Can you get away without doing any of that? Yes, but it's only a matter of time before you experience that first spinner in a wingsuit, no matter what canopy you are jumping. Chuck
-
Negative, I am almost certain he is jumping an MT1-XX HALO rig. Two 370 canopies.
-
Given the choice between those two for BM flight, I would choose the Sabre. I have never had a spinning problem with a Stiletto (I jumped them for six years), so if it's going to be your only main, that Stiletto is the one I would chose. A 135 is PLENTY big for a guy your size, so I wouldn't sweat it. Just make sure the canopy is in trim. Peace, Chuck

The new number two... Who is number one? YOU are number six! I am not a number, I am a free man.

MXC is an incredible parody. I fucking love that show. A week ago, Katie, Gillian, Arlo, and I sat through like five episodes in a row. Arlo and Gilli-bean had not seen it before and were howling.

I have been away from a computer for around a week and just found myself moving over 20 threads to places where they actually belong on our boards. Please, for my sake and that of my fellow moderators, place your posts in the forum that BEST fits the subject. Many of you have come to the wrong conclusion that this is a sort of "Talkback 2". If your post has nothing to do with the physical act of skydiving, then you need to take it to Talkback. The "Mike Mullins" thread was a perfect example of that. If it involves learning a new maneuver in your AFF training, then post it in "Safety and Training". If it's a thread in any way associated with gear, then post it in "Gear and Rigging." There are a LOT of places to post questions and statements on this site. Please help us keep the forums clutter free by posting in the relevant forums. Thanks in advance, Chuck Blue D-12501

My girlfriend and I were just in Palatka for the Hog Flop Boogie and had a blast. The people were really nice, the food was great, and we made some nice skydives. I really liked the nice, close, flat landing area. The place seemed like a nice "home" DZ with no weird political vibe. Can't wait to come back next year and defend my Hog Flop title! Agreed. Also, this thread has absolutely nothing to do with skydiving, so I am now moving it to talkback, where people are free to post general BS like this. Chuck

I got drunk dialed by Mark Shimell yesterday sometime. He seemed to be having a good time.

As I am out of town, can someone tell me if the meet even happened? I heard the weather was for crap. Chuck

I came, I participated, and I kicked all of your asses! Thank you guys for a great boogie. Katie and I had a blast and will return next year for sure. Of particular note: the chow was awesome both days we were there. That was absolutely the best venision stew I have ever eaten. Chuck Blue Hog Flop Champion 2003
