  1. What is "the 81st?" I know of no such unit. Do you mean "the 82nd?". Listen, as good intended as that might seem to you, there are plenty of reasons why individual platoons don't need to have their own satellite phones to call home to mama while they are out on ops. OPSEC is the prime reason. I seriously doubt that this is a program that is supported by the unit's S2. I would go so far as to disuade people from donating to this "organization" as it reeks of fraud. Chuck Blue SFC, USA (RET)
  2. That's bullshit. You can get pretty much any phone you like hooked up to your current service without doing another contract. Hint: buy your phone from a phone store, not a service provider. I have had four different phones on my current contract. Never once got them from the service provider. Chuck
  3. "put the needle on the record and the drum beat goes like this..." Chuck PS: I already have some Tokyo Skydiving Club stickers.
  4. that video showed someone missing a swoop course in its entirety and nearly running over some spectators. Nice.
  5. You are talking some serious revisionist history here. Incredible how soon they forget. Scratch Garrison relays this very eloquently. It, like relative work (formation skydiving now....GASP!) used to be all about fun; now it's "work." People getting into "freeflying" nowadays might believe what you said, but that was not the intent of vertical flying and/or flying on all axis.
  6. Dig up Bryan Burke's stuff on the skydive arizona website. Most schools out there use his writings as a base, no matter what they tell you.
  7. Right. Most every container I have ever owned that was built for a particular sized main would fit the next larger size with little problem. Simply letting out the closing loop a tad made it work fine. YMMV. Chuck
  8. I like the one where he is hogtied. It looks like he is tracking.
  9. If it were just a simple ten-minute prank that would be something, but having a long, drawn-out "contest" to see who can accomplish the most of something in hopes of earning what they thought to be a new car is something entirely different. How's that for a run-on sentence?
  10. I took our kitten, Ellie Mae, in to get spayed and declawed (front only) this morning. She is out of surgery and recovering. I will fetch her tomorrow. I have sent at least six e-mails this morning, posted at least 25 times, deleted two threads, and checked out all the other wingsuit related sites. I ate some Chunky soup for lunch and fed my dog, Billy Bob. I ran 90 mph down interstate 20 in our bad-ass dually. I talked with my cousin about jumpsuit choices. I have been IM'ing SunCheHag, Droopy, and Kramer (the real one). Oh yeah, Ron too.
  11. Actually, I put that in there as a preemptive strike. I have not seen a single one of these threads in the history of this website that hasn't gone exactly like I describe.
  12. Oh wait, more pics of my two Wings W1-2 EXTs. Just assembled the blue one yesterday.
  13. move along, lad. Next thread.
  14. Steal a fucking SeaDoo and race straight out to sea at wide open throttle. If nothing else, it will be a fantastic wipe-out. Remember: it's better to burn out than fade away.
  15. Yes, getting laid makes me tired. Call the Alaskan bushpilot and get yourself serviced.
  16. Ivan has no magical powers here.
  17. Aw Stacy, I thought you were getting a Navigator 260!
  18. I agree. I also think this is another one of the many, many religious/political/patriotism/etc. threads that I loathe so much about talkback. Nothing turns my stomach more than one group of people bad-mouthing another group simply because they interpret things (written, spoken) differently than one another.
  19. It's just a bit more work, Alan, to get the bottom of the container clean. It's more of a pain in the ass on cold, dry days, but the added safety that comes from the open corners is way more important to me than if I get a bit sloppy on my closing job. Peace, Chuck
  20. Not at all, Alan. If you look at the photo that LouDiamond posted of himself, me, Jari, and I in our matching rigs and our BirdMan suits at Eloy, it might give you a better idea. Jari and I have identical-sized rigs. Both have Sabre2 97's and PD 106 reserves. Our second rigs (same size, W1-2) hold Velocity 79's and PD 106 reserves. As to the "pregnant" look, I toy around a bit with how I close the rig. Sometimes I pack it pin to grommet, sometimes grommet to BOC (dynamic corners, so it really doesn't matter). I find it opens just fine either way. I am incredibly happy with these containers.
  21. Most of the members of both Airspeed and the Golden Knights RW team land their Stilettos with their rear risers. Try telling Andy Honnigbaum or Craig Girrard that it doesn't work.
  22. And there you have it. Straight from the horse's mouth.
