I am not an asshat, but I would beat the guys ass (and then move on).

I am at least as good looking as my brother Jari. Also, yes, I swoop the dogshit out of my Sabre2 97 @1.83. That said, it is substantially larger than my Velo 79.
-
I second that.

I will go on record as completely disagreeing here. If someone packed lineovers at the school I was running, then I would fire them and they would not be my problem anymore. Kind to packers? That's a joke. It's a job; a high paying one. Packers at my last dropzone made more than I did as the manager/AFF instructor/tandem monkey. If you cannot perform the job to satisfaction, then you need to be replaced. There are a LOT of people around who will willingly relocate around the country to get a packing job at a busy dropzone. I am not unfriendly by any means, but packing errors of the type that lead to needless malfunctions are simply unacceptable. 11 tandem reserve rides? You need to get a job at a place with better maintained equipment and/or better packing. Yes, your reserve is your lifeline and you would hope that it is maintained to the highest standards when you have two lives that depend on it, but it need not be used with such flippant nonchalance. Your reserve is your last chance. Willfully accepting that "malfunctions just happen" (at that frequency) and that one must accept a packjob from a known "problem packer" is ludicrous. Likewise, willfully jumping faulty and ill-maintained tandem equipment is incredibly wreckless. I will not accept a packjob from a person who's is any less thorough than mine and that is not asking a lot; I can pack a tandem in ten minutes. You shouldn't either. There are actually quite a few busy operations out there that have fantastically low malfunction rates. Those places take the time to get the job done safely and maintain their equipment to the degree that is neccessary. I have a very-good friend named Robert St. John who took a job at one of the very busy dropzones out at that resort in the desert. He told me casually that he had 11 reserve rides in six months. All from one or two staff packers. I told him I could not and would not ever consider working at such an operation, no matter how much money they offered me. My safety and the safety of my passenger means more to me than that. In the end, I guess it's all about what you are willing to put up with in pursuit of that dollar bill. I am a grown man with a pension and I will absolutely not put up with any bullshit packing or maintenance issues; I don't need the money. If any of you choose to just accept poor maintenance, sloppy packing and think that you must tread lightly with your staff packers, then carry on; I don't and won't. swoop competitions for this upcoming year?

Jim's new site is up and running right now. It's quite slick and I wish him luck. -
Ivan who?

What in the world would you mount a chest mounted reserve on the front of a MT1 XX for? You mean onto the equipment rings? I don't get it. Chuck Blue MFFJM (among other things)

anyone familier w/ LTC (Ret) Danny Greene?
SkymonkeyONE replied to SpiderSeven's topic in The Bonfire
I took Danny Greene on his first 3-way skydive at our grass strip in Opelika. We both were in the 7th SFG together as well. He is a close personal friend of my family. Chuck Blue -
Long red hair in a ponytail? That's "Jackhammer" and yes, he now works at Thomaston, or so I was told last week.

I will absolutely flat pack Icarus/Precision tandem mains.

And I would not, Benny. A pure step-through poses incredibly little danger to a skydiver once it is open. You, as a very-inexperienced skydiver, passing that "advice" onto someone is terribly wreckless, so please refrain from doing so in the future. Seriously. Having landed several rigs that were packed for me by different people, I have never experienced any problem in landing one. Generally, the twists end up showing themselves down in the risers, yet do not hamper you from unstowing your brakes or flying your canopy. Getting rid of a straight-flying canopy with a pure step-through is asinine. Chuck Blue D-12501 AFF/SL/TM-I

2004 CSS Easter Boogie and Skyposium

I doubt Katie will be able to make the trip, but anything is possible. -
It means one of two things: -your head unit can accept the signal right from the antenna and thus, maintain the digital signal. Pioneer makes a relatively inexpensive XM capable reciever. -or that it has the XM guts built into it and you only need activate the paid service. You can get units such as this on pretty much any vehicle GM makes. If you use an RF modulator then you are going to lose your digital signal, but you will still have much better sound than any cassette or radio. This form of XM plugs in between your regular FM antenna and your stock head unit. You tune your FM radio to a preset station and hit the on button on your XM reciever to get it to work. Most people who have added XM as an aftermarket option use this version. If you have a separate controller, then that's generally exactly what you are doing. Chuck

Katie sails that Classic and has no problem staying up and with larger suits. It was the logical first suit for her experience level.

Aircraft Emergency with BM Suit [Hypothetical]
SkymonkeyONE replied to bigG's topic in Wing Suit Flying
If my legs are already zipped in and we are low, then I will zip my arms down, exit, and fly away from the airplane. If we are LOW and I am unzipped, then I will bail out, unzipped, on my reserve. If my legs are not zipped in, then they are always snapped in the "up" position, so the leg wing would not be an issue. In the plane my arms are generally zipped down to my elbows. This will keep most of my wing from flying back and potentially snagging my reserve bridle on its way out. Chuck -
Likewise. Zero tandem reserve rides in 500 tandems. Pack me a lineover and I will literally kick your ass. Totally unacceptable. It's for that reason that I always try to pack my own stuff (flat pack), and will then only allow a trusted colleague to do it if I can't. I have only ever allowed one person to PRO pack tandems for me and that person knew I would fire them if they ever packed a lineover. Chuck

From Panama City you can either go north to the nearest Cessna DZ (Headland), west to either Elberta (emerald coast) or another 30 minutes west to Moss Point, or east to Tallahassee and the like. Crestview closed some time ago.
