For TI's - When a tandem student wont jump.....
SkymonkeyONE replied to shorehambeach's topic in Tandem Skydiving
I've been doing tandems for a long time now and I have always been able to talk them into jumping. I've never forced anyone, nor would I ever. Generally, in my experience, it's the first tandem to go that balks in the door. If/when that happens, we simply move that pair out of the way and let the others exit, then do a go around and give it another try. I have always been able to get them to trust me and get out of the plane. They ALWAYS thank me for convincing them to go when we get under canopy. The caveat to my response is that I've had to airland with at least six AFF students, one with five previous successfull AFF jumps. Generally, it's on the first release dive or the first Cat E (aerobatics) jump. Chuck Blue D-12501 AFF/SL/TM-I, S&TA, PRO -
Relocated to Eloy, brought my ten suits
SkymonkeyONE replied to SkymonkeyONE's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I'll be working part time at the school for Jared, but besides that I'm up for anything. I'm at the DZ almost every day. Chuck -
You idiots need to stop it....Don't you know I'm old and tired? Seriously, I'm not that guy anymore. My body can't take it these days. As Remi intoned: I've been to SDAZ "once or twice", so I know my way around. I'm at the DZ almost every day. Chuck

I just moved to Casa Grande, AZ for work. I'll be at Eloy most of the time, so look me up if you want to share a drink or fly a wingsuit. I've got ten suits. PS: I brought my chopper with me this time Chuck

I just relocated to Arizona. Living in Casa Grande and jumping/working at Eloy and other local DZ's. I've got all of my suits with me and will do FFC's and PF Coach courses for those interested in looking me up. Chuck chuck@skymonkeyone.com -
SIGMA rig: premature container opening questions
SkymonkeyONE replied to skydiverek's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Absolutely, totally, dead wrong. If you reach back and grab a hand-full of bridle instead of drogue then that bridle will fully extend about two and a half feet behind you, release the safety pin which prevents that out-of-sequence deployment, and then totally allow you to open your container (without the drogue out) when you start pulling golf balls.. Granted, you would have to be an idiot to not do a complete systems check after throwing your drogue and not sensing that "slowing down" feeling, but I can promise you as an instructor that I have seen this happen on a guy I was evaluating. -
I totally disagree. I would MUCH rather them take their own damn handycam video so I can fly my body. My contour Roam has a 170 degree frame of view and they cannot fuck it up. Seriously. Chuck, D-12501

Simple: put the glove on your passenger and make them take their own video. No, I'm not kidding. Chuck Blue, D-12501 AFF/TM/SL-I, PRO, S&TA, etc, etc, etc

I've been teaching people to fly wingsuits since 1999. I've been teaching instructors how to instruct people to teach people to fly wingsuits since 2001. If/when this passes, then I am going to be one of the I/E's. If it does not, then I will continue to march as I have been since 1999. Nothing changes for me.

Great stuff for sure!

Can someone give me an explanation why the thread I started with the link to the video was locked?

Distance rounds - FLCPA Raeford meet (Video)
SkymonkeyONE replied to ianmdrennan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
great video, as always -
Butters hit the nail on the head. Dismissing a Phantom as a "beginner" suit really makes me laugh. I've got ten suits and I can promise you that my Phantom 2 is hooked to my wingsuit rig 95 percent of the time. BTW: I've got ~2700 wingsuit jumps. I've got much bigger suits for flying farther or going faster, but the GREAT majority of the wingsuit flocks or instructional jumps I do NEVER require me to jump a suit larger than my P2. Sloppy flyers in big-ass suits have a much harder time mastering the basics of wingsuiting and definitely have a hard time learning aerobatics and efficient backflying. Chuck

Now THAT is some funny shit!
-
AFP, which is simply a mix of tandem and AFF at most places generally pays whatever the individual instructor component of the jump pays: At Raeford that's $37 for either side AFF or tandem.

I bet Mike didn't even notice

On ANY container which has "wrap-around" bottom corners, all you do is pick the bottom vertical seam to within one inch of the bottom of the container. You can then bartack it to keep it from unwravling further, or simply use a bit of supertack. The wrap-around corners of V3's, Wings, and Mirages keep everything held in perfectly. There is no drawback to having this option for other types of skydiving either. Chuck

First of all, you are never going to get that thing to work correctly with less than a clean 30 amp service. If you do manage to get your AC to work at all without tripping the main breaker (on a 10 or 15 amp extension cord), then you are in danger of ruining your AC unit. A standard camper top unit costs around $700 when you burn up the one you've got, so be wary of trying to run your AC off that cord. Chuck

Bryan Moffit, a Texas jumper and former sorta-swooper freefly guy bought the entire surplus of Atair USA canopies. He has a bunch of Onyx's, Cobalts, and CC's. He posts here on Dizzy and is on facebook as well. I have his number if anyone wants it.

Probably a stupid question...
SkymonkeyONE replied to theplummeter's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
There were at least two competitors at the PPPB meet in Perris WAY back in 2000 using this method. Actually, both of them used PC's with freebags and they just let them fly off for both distance and speed rounds. Butts did it and I think Troy Ketsdever did it. Chuck
