SkymonkeyONE replied to Bigwallmaster's topic in The Bonfire
Other things I do with great confidence and technical ability: -barefoot waterski -slalom waterski -wakeboard -snowboard -combat pistolcraft Things I have some degree of competence in: -surfing -free climbing/bouldering -long distance running events -
Those are really nice pics, Jason! What's up with the rumor that Mike isn't doing Mardi Gras this year? What's a monkey supposed to do?

How then, exactly, do you guys choose who will go to the world meet? Send who can afford the trip?
-
check your PM's.

Another reason why we use three radios: one on the student, one on a "ground" instructor, and the last on one of the in-air instructors on the dive. That, of course, works in your situation up to the point that you have cleared a student off of radio. Still, even if the guy is off radio we always have an employee or other volunteer racing off in a DZ vehicle to fetch the cutaway. If I see something landing off near me I am going to land near it and pick it up. I still don't understand why you couldn't still debrief your student after you got back with the main.

I couldn't find another thread in this forum so here it is. If you are in the area and want to be part of some epic shit, come on over. Chuck -

Have you gotten rid of your land phone line?
SkymonkeyONE replied to SpeedRacer's topic in The Bonfire
Katie and I don't have a home line at all. We each have cells and we use RoadRunner cable for our connection. -
Upsizing - evolution or the new trend?
SkymonkeyONE replied to frost's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I don't know about that. I didn't have any problems landing a 65 safely when I had one, but there was not a single task that it was useful for other than pure speed. It was a worthless competition main and didn't swoop that far. Personally, I am really glad that the competition trend is bigger. Not only are the larger mains far more versitile and even *gasp!* safer, it likely helps us in promoting safe sizing to the up-and-comers and "beer line" chimps who would otherwise tout differently in their own little microcosms. While there may eventually be stiffer, more efficient wings in the future, I don't really see where competitors would have any cause to downsize again. The only caveat to that might be IPC/PST speed courses. The only issue with the upsizing trend/evolution is that people are having to buy new containers to fit their now too-big mains. That, of course, is only a vanity issue anyway. Chuck -
Get a copy of The Rosetta Stone software from someone. It is by far the best tool available outside of immersion.

Pop is no pimp, but he is fun to partay with. You up, fool!

Agreed. It's absolutely fascinating how some people can change their entire outlook after spending some time seeing people fuck up and reading about it on here over and over and over.

Sunshine, everybody who was at the last boogie knows the real score. But keep trying (too hard), it is really entertaining.

It's incredibly lame to start a thread to provoke naked pictures without actually starting with one of yourself. Troll. Actually, I just scrolled through this entirely lame thread and found nothing of consequence. Yawn.

Does anyone recognize this patch?
SkymonkeyONE replied to flyhi's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
10th SFG club I would guess. -
Possibly more akin to G-lock?

Wings offers 50 percent off the base price and, I believe, 15 percent off of options to military ID card holders. E-mail Ankie at: ankie@skydivewings.com and check to see if that is the current info. Chuck Team Wings

I can't believe that someone would call you "small", Rob. Likewise, I find it fascinating that some big guys think they are better TI's simply due to their greater size and supposed ability to "muscle" a skydive. Narrow body Cessna 182's leave little room for any tandem instructor to get around the pilot, pivot around to the rear, and get out the door. I personally think I have a much easier time in Cessnas than guys your size (and John's size) do. To those who don't know me, I am five foot seven and 155 pounds. chuck

Upsizing - evolution or the new trend?
SkymonkeyONE replied to frost's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
What would that be? Go over 300 feet maybe? Be able to better shut a canopy down inside an accuracy zone without it bowtieing behind your back? Any number of reasons actually. -
a feat regularly accomplished over Deland, FL with several sizes of PD velocities.

Matt, backflying is much easier to maintain if you are holding your wingtips and pushing down toward the ground. "Piking" in the air (dearching) will definitely cause you to come out of the sky like a bomb, so be very flat across the body and arch your upper body.

Yes, Jeanne is terribly shy! You two can hang out together.

Where to find Fantasty of Flight Swoop Scores?
SkymonkeyONE replied to kimgriffin's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
that was the kind of results that I anticipated and, seriously, I could not afford the trip this time. I will see you at the beginning of December, bro. Congratulations to JayMo and the boys; I am sure it was a great event.
