  1. I am totally down with a dz.com POPS record. Bring it. edited to add list: SM-1 Scotty Carbone CptPooby chopchop Mouth ?
  2. That was actually a fairly tame and semi-controlled rear riser stall, but it's a decent example. There is fantastic video of Joe Bennet rear stalling into the pond in the ASC fall swoop meet tape. Actually, you see some in the PST end of year video as well, during the zone accuracy rounds.
  3. Erk, it was 85 degrees in Deland last Sunday. You missed it, bro.
  4. I agree with Ed. With 280 jumps you are on the low end of the spectrum to be jumping a wingsuit anyway, so please be as careful as possible and make sure you are rigging your suit correctly. I have encountered more than one "experienced" wingsuit pilot who had been rigging their suit wrong on every single flight. The reason? They never got proper instruction in the first place. Seriously, I met a guy in Eloy two years ago who was a candidate in a BMI course I was teaching. This dude had his front wing cutaway cable literally wrapped completely around his main liftweb. He told me that he did it that way because the cable was too long and he didn't like it hanging out. I was flabbergasted; the guy had like 100 flights. Chuck
  5. I am not going to be there this year; sorry. Stacy Carl will be handling suit demos and Aubrey Easterlin will back her up with first flight overflow (when the Eloy BMI's are busy doing tandem video and freefly coaching). I will instead be at Z-hills. It pains me to miss meeting some of you guys this time, but I thought I would give this other boogie a try this year. You guys should have some first-rate flocks at Eloy. Chuck
  6. Likewise, my GTi is probably two inches longer than my S3 and it flies fine.
  7. What Loic did say about flying along on those flights is that he had to stay floaty as the forward speed of the canopy was really not that great. Loic has tremendous range and if he says that he was having to float, then I can guarantee you that Jeb was near the edge of the stall envelope in his suit. Jari experienced the same thing when he was docking on Vladi a few years ago. Basically, what this publicity stunt shows is that Jeb was able to stay with Luis during a series of controlled maneuvers. In order for him to truly get the most lift out of his (or any other) suit, he would have to be stretching the speed out faster than that 39 would go and then flaring hard for maximum float. A data logger and a 3D GPS would have given better results, but would not have garnered the publicity and the cool footage that some work/live for. Yuri, "Outrager" on here, posted some graphs several years ago which show him actually climbing for a second or two on some jumps where he "stuka dived" down for maximum speed, then flared out his suit. Ultimately, while this is a pretty aerial display I don't think it has brought anyone any closer to actually landing a wingsuit. If and when an attempt is actually made in a "real" wingsuit we will be able to judge how much real thought was put into it. Personally, I think it's going to be ugly. Chuck
  8. Neptunes are the most accurate, small and wearable devices you can buy. Neptunes are fantastic tools.
  9. That's a joke, right? You obviously can't see the altimeter mode if it's inside your helmet during the skydive. You can hear the audible tones (if activated) and the device will log your skydives fine though.
  10. Personally, Matt, it doesn't matter what you look like so long as you can fly your slot. You did well this weekend.
  11. I did not lock this thread and last I heard, 18 was legal.
  12. But is there a skydiving scene like in the original series pilot?
  13. OK, I am leaving out of here driving south at around 6:00am tomorrow morning. I will be in Deland before 3pm. Kris, I will look for you on the DZ for the camera deal.
  14. I know where several S3's are that will fit you.
  15. check your PM's and answer your phone, fool!
  16. I can't decide whether to leave tonight or first thing tomorrow morning, so someone tell me what the weather is looking like. Chuck
  17. You would like him in many ways. He is great fun to party with.
  18. Yes, it will physically hook up, but the side strap connections on RWS tandem rigs are at the base of the rig while they are in the middle of the back on a Racer. I own a Racer, but most of my tandems are with a Sigma and I wouldn't consider hodge-podging like that.
  19. I watched Branson, then Gilligan at the second showing which aired at 11pm (eastern)
  20. I don't think you look like her at all, Val.
  21. Not sure why you would have a problem with that AT ALL LeRoy, since you know good and well how old that movie star's daughter was when you asked them to show up and jump. That said, our dropzone is going by the new USPA guidance and yes, we are jumping 16 year-olds. If you are talking even more underage than that, then I will also say that I, personally, would not have any problem at all taking anyone large enough to fit in my tandem harness properly, regardless of age if it were for a relative or good friend. Once again, that's just my stance as someone who owns his own tandem rig and is man enough to take full responsibility for the liability. Jumping my young neice and nephew (who's parents also jump) with my gear out of my family's airplane onto our private property simply didn't bother any of us. That said, I would not consider taking anyone commercially who did not meet basic USPA guidelines (16 years old now). Chuck
  22. You guys are both assuming enclosed-venturi tunnels with hard walls. At the Bragg tunnel the entire chamber is closed, but the air column is vectored in a recirculatory manner which allows for about five feet of pads all the way around the cone over to the walls (which have windows all the way around). If tethered in the center you can absolutely track as hard as you like against the rope without hitting any walls.
  23. The premise isn't stupid at all if you consider that ever MFF student in the Fort Bragg tunnel is first flown on a tether prior to being "AFF'd" and then ultimately allowed to fly freely. It would not be difficult at all to rig such a device onto a person, at least in our tunnel since the net is pre-rigged for such things. Chuck
  24. At most dropzones YOU are responsible for anything you rent or borrow. Canopies do not grow on trees, but it's amazing how many people think it's cool to leave them hanging in them after a cutaway.
