  1. Yes. Also to catch up on what nonsense we missed out on if were were away for a while.
  2. Good luck with that, Jason. Do you already have pics of that one too?
  3. I don't know. Most of the people that posted a bunch back in the day didn't have a lot of skydives. Some of those very same "old timer" posters still don't jump at all or just barely jump. Those people come and go, just like they do on real dropzones. I don't think the vibe of today's regular posters is any different than it was back in the day; it's just a different group of people. You know I travel alot. I find it absolutely astounding how many people I have actually met and jumped with from this website. The people that actually bothered to jump and travel back then are still pretty much around. The people that really didn't take the sport seriously have gone the way of the dodo bird and generally only pop their heads in once in a while to Bonfire or SC. Just my observations as an "old timer", both by time on this site and actual skydiving experience. Chuck
  4. In a way, yes. You see, what I was doing before was a really tall carve that ended up lined up right with the gates.......most of the time. I would never, ever miss the gates, but sometimes I would still be sideways going through them. Anyway, by banging my turn a bit harder I get through with my rotation while still steep in the dive and have lots of my recovery arc left to fine tune my line-up and get my hands back to my rears sooner. Less hurried on the back end, oddly enough. I still do those very-tall turns when I want to throw a big carve across the DZ though. Chuck
  5. The last time I was in the UK skydiving (1998), nobody gave me any grief as to what kind of skydiving I was going to do. Of course I had over 2500 jumps at the time....
  6. I am one of those guys that used to start his turn very high by todays standards. Long harness 360's with just a bit of riser from 900 feet sometimes. These days I do more of a lower "banging" turn , but I will generally never throw a 270 a foot lower than 500 feet under my current Velo 84 if I hope to have a clean run. I will throw 360's from around 700 and inside-450's from right around 800, but those are pretty quick too. I totally agree with Tree about the larger wing using less altitude in a turn, regardless of wingload. Chuck
  7. You do know that Joe Bennet took the stabilizers off of his Velo, don't you? This, on top of his RDS and very-small Technora lines. Maybe he will logon and post what he thinks about that mod. Chuck
  8. The photoshopped cover is fucking awesome.
  9. don't be, just go. you will have fun. I am going to step in here and totally agree with Mark. It's a load of fun! There are lots of people to party with and jump with! I have never NOT had a blast at the convention. The company I vend for (BirdMan) will not be there, but that would not stop me from going if Katie and I were not moving right then. I love the convention. Chuck
  10. Hey, bro. You are talking about a ParaFlite Evolution, not a PD Excallibur. The original evolutions had three sets of risers and a center-line reefing system. Later Evolutions had regular sliders. The reason for the three sets of risers was that the lines were attached span-wise. PD Excalliburs were 21-cell crossbraced canopies. The smallest one was a 120. Mine was a 150 and I bought it brand new. There were several people at my dropzone that also jumped ParaFlite Evolutions in sizes 160 and 140. Chuck
  11. Hey Jason, did you tell your wife you bought ANOTHER wingsuit? I bet she is steaming!
  12. You don't get around much then. I have been on at least five dropzones where that could have happened on any weekend of the year.
  13. If you are going to coach on a particular dropzone, then it would be very wise for you to sit in on all phases of the ground training. This, so you will know "the big picture" when you get asked a question by your students. Chuck
  14. I like hot pork rinds. You know, the spicy ones that you can't hardly eat a full bag of.
  15. I believe a person has to say exactly five scripted words on screen to get a SAG card.
  16. Mark Mothersbaugh, an original member of the band, still does a lot of movie scores and music production work. He did the music for the "Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" movie. Very clever stuff. I was a complete and utter Devo fan back in the late '70s
  17. Little Debbie swiss cake rolls. Can't eat them without milk though.
  18. I have liked NC just fine since 1984. The area I live in has incredibly affordable housing, great weather, is close to beaches (90 miles), is only four hours from snow skiing, and has three turbine DZ's within 75 miles; two closer than 25 miles. Chuck
  19. That is typical Randy for sure. The boy ain't right.
