1. Duh, I reread my post, and I didn't make myself clear. I understand that the mini won't control the camera, but was wondering if the camera has adequate external controls to use the camera itself for on/off - start/stop, allowing me to get by with just an indicator. I've got a TRV33, and although I've never jumped it (yeah, I'm gonna owe beer), the external controls are such that I probably could manage it with just an indicator... "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
2. I just ordered one of these cams, can one of you guys that have laid hands on this thing already tell me if it's practical to run this thing using just the Hypeye D mini, or am I going to really wish I'd spent the extra $40 for the Hypeye D pro? BTW, great bank card personalization! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
3. Fixed it for ya. One of the old school guys at SDD side packs, and he's one of the fastest packers at that DZ! Yeah, he takes up a little more room while he's doing it, but trust me, he ain't doing it very long! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
4. They do love us there, so much in fact that during the summer, when jumping doesn't end until late, late, late, they'll stay open for us if we call them in advance! It's BYOB, and the food is really pretty good! That pic must have been taken on a Friday though, you got JohnDeere in that picture, and that boy hardly ever jumps on Saturday or Sunday! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
5. You can't use that indicator on Fridays, some of the geriatric crew are crazy, and will jump in way more wind than you and I will! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
6. I'll be out there too, so you'll have someone to jump with if it's too cold for poe62... she's kind of a wimp. I'm sure we'll be able to scrounge up some folks to have dinner with you after jumping! If a group doesn't materialize to hit up the local spot, there's several good Mexican places on the way 'home', that wouldn't be out of the way for Frisco. And by all means, take advantage of the load organizers at SDD! We have really good load organizing every weekend, so it's easy to get hooked up and get on a load! Just ask in the pro shop or at manifest, or look for the yellow shirt that says 'load organizer' if it's not too cold to be covered up with warmer clothes. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
7. My favorite IPA of all time is made by these guys. Oddly enough I purchased it at a neighborhood grocery store, not expecting too much... But I loved it! It's not over the top hoppy like a lot of the IPA's I've tried, but you'll know it's an IPA. Sadly, the IPA is the only Brideport beer they carry, so I' haven't tried any of their other styles, even though I'd love to! If you want high gravity and over the top hops, try Stone's Ruination, or Breckenridge's 471 IPA! Hop head, who said hop head? "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
8. Ah, one of the joys of having adult 'children', mine signed me up for a beer club for my last birthday. It's a great way to sample brews you probably wouldn't encounter otherwise! I like beer.
9. Holy mother of God! Now that brings back some memories! I'll bet my ex-wife has a copy of that on VHS somewhere, because I didn't end up with it... I haven't seen that in a million years! I'd forgotten how good it was! Awesome! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
10. Speak for yourself hobie! :7:0 We had great weather, poe62 is just a big cold weather wuss! It wasn't cold, it just wasn't warm! Hey beggars can't be choosers in the middle of February, even in Texas! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
11. He definitely operated at Lavon before moving to Hartlee, because I made my first jump at Lavon, and was working for him by the time he moved to Hartlee. I don't know about anything after that, because I quit in 1983, and was totally out of the skydiving loop from then on... I didn't know he went back to Lavon! I don't have any idea who the student with BC and I was, I just remember being glad we didn't kill him. Thank God for youthful exuberance, I'm sure I wasn't really all that qualified to me an AFF instructor back then! You know I just missed seeing you at Caddo a couple of years ago... efs4ever was out there, and I did see him, but was just a few minutes behind you leaving when I got there. Damn it! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
12. Well, I'm definitely old enough to have old pictures, so I'll play too! 'Oldest' was at Lavon Airport (outside of Dallas TX), where I trained under Jerry Rouillard in 1978. 'Next_oldest' was in Denton, Hartley field I think, in about 1980 after Rouillard moved the DZ there. 'Last' was at Decatur, home of the Metroplex Parachute Club. I met efs4ever there, probably right before I quit, about 1983... That was a 'live' student in the middle, back when AFF was so new you could legally jump as long as one of the instructors was rated. Which was good, because I wasn't! edited to add that the last picture, I'm pretty sure, is courtesy of efs4ever! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
13. Demo one from the guys here and see for yourself. I've jumped all the canopies in that class (Sabre 2, Safire 2, Pilot), and for a newer jumper, you can't hardly go wrong with any of those three canopies. They're all pretty popular, because they're all very good canopies! I you really want to figure out which one you like best, you need to jump all three. Take delivery on your new gear minus the main, then just demo for a while! Or... find a good deal on any of the three, and buy that. You can't lose, really! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
14. Buy business class machines from someone like CDW or Provantage... they come with much less junk on them than the consumer class machines! I recommend that people get their machines set up to their liking, then use something like Acronis True Image to build their own image on a removable drive of some sort... it's the easiest way to restore the machine back to that state, and offers some redundancy in the event of a disk failure. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
15. Your box may have shipped configured with a recovery partition... don't know about Dell, but several other manufacturers I know do that. If that's the case, everything you need to restore the box back to factory defaults will already be on the hard drive, and it's just a matter of figuring out how that particular manufacturer completes that process. I've seen it done via CD, and I've seen it done via BIOS hooks. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."

17. OMG, it appears to be Miller Genuine Draft, please, tell us it ain't so! edited to add... Oh Yeah, nice looking bike! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
18. I've found this to be infinitely true! I've bought and sold a number of items on dizzy.com, from nickel dime stuff to complete rigs worth thousands of dollars. I'll offer up this advice... 1) Communication is KEY. I just had a guy I've never met and don't know from Adam in real life send me a canopy worth $1200. I've also sent gear ahead of money directly to buyers before. If you do some due diligence before the sale or purchase, this won't seem like such a crazy idea! Communicate, communicate, communicate!!! 2) I think there's only two kinds of deals online, outright scams and legitimate deals. Not much in between. Use your head a little, and it's really easy to weed out the scams! If it sounds to good to be true, it IS! If the seller wants Western Union payments, or some goofy refund of over payment, run! That doesn't imply that every deal has gone exactly as planned, but I can honestly say that I have NEVER had a deal that wasn't resolved to the mutual satisfaction of both parties involved. It just takes good communication! That said, I'm all in favor of shipping more expensive items to a verifiable third party (DZO, staff rigger, etc...) to act as an escrow agent. It's the best way to protect both the buyer and the seller of said gear when they don't know each other. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
19. PD Silhouette... a great opening parachute that doesn't take forever to open. I only have about 75 jumps on a Silhouette, but I loved the openings! I bought my old Spectre back from the guy I sold it to, and the first time I jumped it after jumping the Silhouette, I wondered if that Spectre was ever going to open! Seriously, I think the Silhouette is one of PD's best kept secrets that nobody knows about. It's a great canopy! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
20. Look at this one... It's a little bit overkill now, but you won't likely outgrow it like you might the less expensive TZ150. I've had several of the smaller units over the years (Tele2, Tele3, XPRS2), and a couple of the bigger units (Pro 1260, Pro 2040), and think Sonicwall makes a pretty good product. I'd recommend them. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
21. The version 4.0 line set for the Triathlon improves the flare on them by moving the brake lines more inboard on the canopy. A canopy with 500 jumps on it is most likely due for a line set soon, and could be upgraded to the current version line set at that point... "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
22. I've had it for a couple of years now, and have been quite happy with it... I recommend it to friends and family that can get it. I don't know what current prices are, but I had it installed for free with a one year commitment when I first got it. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
23. That's incorrect... PD will put a Dacron line set on that canopy, I know, I had them put a set on my Sabre 2 210. It's less expensive than Spectra too... "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
24. Damn beowulf, that's some hard core shit! I haven't always packed for myself... when I first got re-current, I couldn't even remember how to flat pack, and hadn't learned the new school pro pack method, so I used packers. That worked until I went to a smaller DZ that didn't have them available, and I had to beg for someone to help me! The final straw was an opening so bad it damaged the canopy, and very nearly ended up in a cutaway. I decided hell, I could do that bad, so I learned to pack and have been doing it myself every since, some 3 plus years and 400ish jumps ago. I actually prefer to pack for myself now, but I'll admit that in the middle of the Texas summer, it gets mighty tempting to just job it out! I think the choice to use packers is personal, and I don't resent anyone for using them, but I think you should pack for yourself long enough that you at least know how, and are comfortable with the process... "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
25. Quick bump back to the top since it's this weekend! Come on out and play! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
