  1. The software understands that a single frame 'grab' isn't really a 'complete' single frame due to interlacing, and 'builds' a complete single frame from the interlaced components (the frame prior to/after the actual 'grabbed' frame.) "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  2. I've also jumped them both, and honestly, you can't possibly go wrong with either canopy! If I were buying one new, I'd probably opt for the Pulse, just because I think PD has done a better job marketing it than the Silhouette, and it's resale value will probably reflect that... it's certainly gaining popularity where I jump, and for good reason! It's a great overall canopy! DSE is right, it's marketed to the folks that just want a stress free ride, but still want something modern and sporty feeling. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  3. Yeah Robert, I think I'll have to stick with my 18-55 kit lens. Even if I had 10 grand to blow on camera gear, I wouldn't spend it all on a single piece of glass. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  4. That made me gasp! H O L Y shit. Neat video of how they're made though! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  5. You need canopy coaching. Ever seen classic accuracy? They all jump big, big F-111 7 cell canopies. Want to know why? Because that's the absolute best combination for steep approaches into tight areas. Those guys can hit a 5cm target over and over! You've obviously never landed a canopy in deep deep brakes in a very tight area, or you would understand why a larger parachute is desirable in that circumstance! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  6. How much softer does that thing land than a T-10? I started jumping back in 1978 on surplus T-10 stuff, and almost quit jumping over those T-10 landings! I though I'd died and gone to heaven when I upgraded to a Para-commander. ;-) "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  7. Point taken, and you're right, it's not the only way. I still believe it's the best way when neither party knows the other party, and the safest way for both parties. GravityGear and ChutingStar are exactly the kinds of places I want to send gear to for escrow if I'm the seller! I don't need to verify anyone's 'reputable references' if I send the gear to a known gear dealer for escrow. It just seems easier to me to take that approach. I have actually sent gear directly to folks too, and had folks send me gear directly, but in both cases 'people knew people', even though we didn't know each other. I wouldn't recommend that for your average online transaction, but your mileage may vary. ;-) "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  8. Airtec feels differently... "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  9. +1 using a 3rd party escrow. You'd be nuts to send the seller money before you had the gear, and the seller would be nuts to send the gear directly to you before he has the money. The only good solution is to use a trusted, verifiable third party. I've bought and sold a bunch of gear online, and that is the only method I'll use for other than nickel/dime stuff. I've never had any trouble as either a buyer or seller using this method. I've never had anybody refuse to deal this way, either. Why would they? It protects everybody involved on both ends of the transaction! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  10. I have a G10, and I'm pretty brave. ;-) Got a link to the 3rd party firmware? The shot to shot speed is the only thing I don't like about that camera! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  11. Oh God! It was you! I'm so sorry! You guys, er sorry, girls, were mocking up the exit right after my team on one of the jumps, and I remember teasing you and telling you whatever you do, don't hit them. You told me 'I already did'. I felt so bad! Sorry!!! I'll keep my mouth shut from now on! One of the other camera guys from my DZ loved that freaking high step! I hated it too, but not as much as that toothpick of a step on the Deland plane! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  12. That adds a little more perspective than just saying 'but I only had 250 jumps'! I actually knew that because I talked to you guys a bit after Nationals in 2009, so I was kinda busting your chops. Sorry! But trust me, I know even with the tunnel thrown in what you guys did in 2009 was nothing short of impressive, and what you did in 2010 was nothing short of record breaking. Congratulations! BTW, I've got some great video and stills of Ben back flying under a Q launch with some of the locals at SDD if you want to see them. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  13. And how much tunnel time? Number of jumps means less than ever in this sport right now! And don't think 'baby killing' is a bad thing. My team would love to win big enough next year to be called 'baby killers'! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  14. Be glad it wasn't the first competition jump at Nationals! Nope, not me, but I saw it happen to some poor camera person this year at Nationals! I admit the thought crossed my mind when I got the Deland otter (a really narrow step!) for the first time in round 8 (and again in 9 and 10!!!)... I told my team do NOT get out until I am firmly in place, just in case! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  15. Try this "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  16. I can relate! We posted an 11 in round one, and while it wasn't our best effort, we would have never imagined that it would start us out down by nine points! Still, I can understand why if your two options were to obliterate the intermediate class, or be a middle of the pack advanced team, why you'd choose the first option. I probably would have too! I'm sure AF Impulse wouldn't have looked forward to competing in advanced against VTSD/Carolina Turbo XP who posted a 23 something to their 15.3 at collegiates, and then went on to win advanced with a 14.5 despite the more difficult draw. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  17. Well, they had a 15.3 at collegiates very, very early in the year, so I don't think that changed for them at the very end of the year. But just to be clear, I'm not saying that entering intermediate was wrong of them to do. That decision was for them to make, and I can't say that I blame them, or that I wouldn't do the same thing if I had been in their shoes. I just argued JT's point that they didn't know they were going in to a class with no real competition. The 13 years of history I looked at indicates that if you're a 15 point team in intermediate (which they had already demonstrated that they were), you're going to win the thing by a long shot, and they did. Again, congratulations to AF Impulse, Spaceland Mamba, and AF Eminence for a great meet! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  18. Yep, and VTSD won the class rather handily with a 13 something average (I believe 2nd was a mid or low 11 average)... A 15 point average would have won 12 of the last 13 years (a 15.3 won in 2000), and all of those 12 years by at least a full point margin. Which was kind of my whole point to JT... how can a team with a demonstrated 15 point potential enter intermediate and not think they're going to slaughter everybody? ;-) "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  19. I saw VTSD's scores, and they were certainly 'baby killing' at collegiates. But they moved up and won advanced at nationals this year. I'm not saying Impulse should have followed them to advanced, I'm saying they knew they had 15 average potential, and that it would most likely win intermediate going away based on previous years scores. That's all... Your contention was that if they knew that, they would have definitely moved up, and I don't believe that's true... they did know that in advance, and rather than be a middle of the pack advanced team, they chose to obliterate the intermediate class. ;-) Congratulations to both Air Force teams and Spaceland Mamba, they all worked very hard and certainly deserve the medals and recognition they earned. Way to go guys! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  20. Their 15.3 average at collegiates wasn't an indication? Did they think they were going to get worse at nationals after more training? :-) I'm not hating, the kids did a great job, scored the most points, and deserved to win. But to suggest they didn't know they were capable of a 15 point average and that a 13.1 last year won by a pretty large margin is wrong. They knew. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  21. So I'm headed to Chicago next week for nationals, and need to fly all my camera gear up there. What's the best way to package all the stuff for air travel? Pelican box? Other hard case? Just wondering what some of you have done to protect your gear. Last year was easy... I just put it in the car and drove the 4 hours to Houston. This year, it's a 16 hour drive, so I'm not. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  22. Exit shot from my canon G10... just started taking stills with it... the other shot, hey. it's skydiving related... it was taken at the end of the day, at the DZ. ;-) "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  23. Added a Canon G10 to my setup a few weeks ago, and will reiterate what's already been said... other than slow frame rate and noise above 200 ISO, it's a great little camera... Exit shot taken in TV - 1/500, F4, ISO 100 edited to add exif data... "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  24. It's become one of my go to favorites. It has a stronger hop 'bitterness' about it that I enjoy, without being completely over the top. It doesn't hurt that it's readily available in my area... unlike one of my all time favorite IPA's that I can no longer seem to find here, Bridgeport's IPA. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
  25. That's freaking awesome! Nice work!!! "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got."
