  1. 0~1000...stay with the aircraft...unless the thing has lost a wing ...would get out if i could and use the reserve 1000~2000...out and use the reserve. 2000~4000...pull the drogue release out prior to exit (strong) 4000+...as normal ...except do eveything quicker i always hook up prior to take off...stupid not to...unless you are very proficient at hooking up while all hell breaks loose around about you. yep the attachments do take 5000Lbs to break on a strong system....but i dont think id want to risk it breaking or the opening on a tandem chute loaded that heavely on one side Ive used the reserve (strong) once and its opens and flys better than most tandem mains that i have jumped... 2. I have read this stuff before ...and i believe that all the test jumps done were using chutes of similer size ...my point was that i didnt know how my main...stiletto 120 would fly with my reserve ...tempo 150.... point number 1 is the answer...
  3. yep....would also like to see a tandem section flipper
  4. Ive heard of 2 fatalities in the last week...it appears that both jumpers were trying to get into wind for landing....both of them are now dead. take a down winder...get covered in mud/dirt/dust, have you mates take the piss.....but at least youll survive.
  5. tempo 150 is the one i use....twice to date....opens real nice ...without ' blowing up'....flys well and lands well....dosnt cost a fortune and my rigger also raves about the things.... also have used tandem reserves....that seem to fly better than the mains..! flipper
  6. my current container has a tempo 150 and a stiletto 120..... both chutes out are hassle ...big time...as has been mentioned in other posts the best way to survive it is not to have it happen....correct packing and gear maintenece are the best way to avoid this.... I have no idea what would happen if my main and reserve were out at the same time....more than likley it wouldnt be pretty....but on the other hand they might fly together ok.... flip
  7. yep ...I agree..it is scary. In the last two weeks Ive heard of 2 dudes killing themselves due to landing injuries...they were both low timers...what they were jumping is unimportant other than it was not what i would personnaly consider the correct size of chute. dont understsnd the rush to get on the small stuff...bigstuff is more forgiving...small stuff isnt...and until you have the expierence dudes are gonna keep on getting killed maybe its time for the canopy police...?
  8. Pull the cutaway...those shitty little knives that come withthe rig will only break ....a lot of people dont realise that its fairly difficult to cut through suspension lines....I'm not saying that it cant be done...but it takes time....time you might not have to spare... flipper

    Airlocks

Hi Heres my exp. of airlocked chutes (not much)..about 30 jumps on a veng.107...my normal chute is a stiletto 120 (900 jumps) packing...not really a hassle little bit more material to get in the bag ...but no real drama openings...much the same as a stiletto...but more chance of it diving off to the side or at the ground...i found that getting on the rear risers quickly does the trick flying...i found that this is the chute for me...perfect...real easy to pull front riser ...very responsive to toggle inputs...all in im sold and have one on order landings...more lift...more control..real easy to change your line during the surf if required...and yes they can be a bitch to control after you have landed if its windy...but the hassle is a small price to pay.. now the turbulence thing....my own personnel thoughts on this are that the veng maybe does cut through the bumpy stuff a liitle better than my stiletto but i wouldnt count on it and certainly wouldnt jump on bumpy days just because im on a veng/airlocked chute...if theres enough turbulence to collapse a stiletto itll fold an airlocked chute...been there and had my chute dissapear while still at 30 feet....i was lucky and just bent my ankle...wont ever put my self there again..if i can help it... flipper
  10. like chronicle 2....nice and long...and shows the best getting it wrong...
  11. Hi Ive got around 900 jumps on a stiletto 120 at 1.6. Over the last few weeks i have done some jumps on a vengeance 107...first thoughts on the chute are that its like a 'hotted' up stiletto....openings...real nice ...very stilettoish...with fairly quick, responsive turns and reaction to toggle input...the landings i have found to be ultra good...real smooth with looooong surfs ( straight in approaches).. now i do a lot of tandems so i decided to go for the veng. 120...little bit slower and maybe slightly forgiving than the 107... is there any of you guys out there that jump the vengeance ...at the same wing loading as me....what im after is advance warning of any little hassles ...that the new chute might have in store for me.. thanks Flipper
  12. Im thinking of getting myself a new chute ...ive done around 800 jumps on a stiletto 120.... i was thinking of changing over to a 120/135 spectre....( i do a lot of tandems now and finding it hard to stay current on my stiletto) my out the door weight is around 180... has anybody got any exp of spectres at the loading that ill be putting on it ...and how does the performance compare to that of the stiletto any advice offered is cool thanks flipper
  13. I have a few questions for you... 1.) Total Jumps?...1200 Total Tandems?....200 Total AFF's?....0 Total RW Jumps?....30~50 Total Freefly Jumps?.....800 Total Misc, Hybrid, balloon, heli, tubes, etc.?...3 heli...1..tube...lots of hybrid Total Cutaways?....3..(1 tandem....2 spinetto) 2.) How many Skydives did you have when your received your AFF rating?....dont have the rating 3.) What was your RW vs. VRW #'s prior to receiving your ratings?.....all VRW 4.) How many jumps in the RW and VRW disciplines would you say it took you to be proficient enough to safely execute successful points in these dives? RW....5.....VRW....100 5.) With the Freeflying craze the way it is, do you think that Multi-Disciplined Instructors have an advantage over Instructors that have mostly RW jumps.....totally...being able to fly on your back/belly/head and feet is a real advantage when you need it...
  14. Hi I have used the teflon pin thing for the last 800 jumps (appx)...never had any trouble with it....subterminal or terminal...no problem.. the plus side for me is that the teflon pin is about 5 inches in length ...and harder for it to be pushed out by accident....or work its way loose while your at 160ish head down.. It tends to wear the closing loop a bit quicker than normal....but to me that a small price to pay for the added safety... My tandem rig has one (strong) and we have recently converted our vector rig to the same ... the best advice i can give you is to have a rigger fit it if you intend to get one ...its pretty criticle that there is enough slack between the pin attachment point and the top of the D/bag to allow the pin to fully extract before bag lift off....some rigs can have the teflon loop attached straight to the existing pin attachment point with no worries ...others need the pin attachment point moved... the cost is around 15GBP.... if you need any further advice let me know..... I could supply photos after the weekend if anybody needs it flipper
  15. Ive done 4~5 jumps from a hovering helicopter....some dudes practise there base thing from them....It cost around 12GBP....we did two ways from around 3k with plenty of time separate and deploy...still air jumps are very different but also very enjoyable.. Flipper
  16. this is a real good idea.....my team mates and i do this on most jumps...where its practical....what i mean is we do it when its not gonna screw up the natural flow of traffic...we all have what would be considered non crw chutes...ie...stiletto...vengeance sabre's etcetcetc... Flip
  17. so what do you reckon.....?...from my exp its the best way to learn how to fly and control your chute.... Flipper

  19. The AD challenge is there if you want it....its like the final test to show that you can control your body ...the ball dosnt cork/backslide or carve... Ive done some jumps with a member of the clowns ....it was a real laugh....with lots of stuff learned..i found the ball easier to work with than i imagined... to sum it all up its a good learning tool.... flipper
  20. 1100.....jumps 900...of freefly 120...tandems 80...cant remember 1...cutaway 5 years
  21. agree with riggerrob....if you have one ...switch it on... ive done a lot of lobs from 2.2k my main is a stiletto 120 and never had a hassle...
  22. Hi Just a quick one... the dz that i work at operates a max limit of 14 stone (196Lbs) for tandem students...do any of you guys have similar polices at your dz's....? flip
