    a steel beam would be the best thing for you to put there if you are wanting to keep everything looking the same other wise you could just remove the soffit were a beam could be placed under and post put at each end an lvl beam for that span will probably be around 5in thick and 16in tall, but painted wouldn't look bad. just a contractors point of view. light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak

    go to your local lumber yard ask them to contact their beam manufacturer tell them the span and size of roof being supported(sq ft) and they will get you the right beam. build temp wall, take out existing beam , replace with new, its not a big deal i have replaced lots of beams in houses for the very reason you want to, wouldnt take but half a day start to finish. light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak

    sda has the same thing an old van that they will go out into the desert that picks up outlanders. but considering sda has two trailers for hauling people out to the plane, i think they could use one to pick up people landing on the alternate and then make the alt at the tunnel a swoop specific lz, problem solved swoopers still can swoop when ever and not have to walk all the way back. it is almost 1/4 of a mile walk to the packing area from the tunnel where as the main lz is about 60 feet from the packing tents. light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak

    Sorry to be an ass, but are you that lazy??? A short walk in the name of clear airspace??? I have about 75 jumps at Eloy, maybe more... About 50/50 per landing area... I have never found the walk from the alternate to be that bad. In fact, with friends - it is a time to joke and debrief. Alone it is time to reflect on the dive before the debrief. (Yes, I have done training camps with 20 minute turns and still landed in the alternate).... if you read my post you will see that i said i land in the alternate alot. just with one exception, i was talking about a lot of others out there. i have around 100 jumps in eloy and 90% of my landings have been in the alternate. light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak

    should have seen some of the ones out in eloy this week one was about half the size of the parking lot. if i see them or know that the conditions are right for them ill land in the dirt and stay away from the grass. light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak

    i think if their was a tram that picked people up from the alternates more people would use them, i personally prefer to land in the alternate (except when the millitary is jumping. lz rules seem not to be their priority) but it does become very exhusting to walk all they way back to the packing area especially when its 115 out and have to walk with a jumpsuit on and carrying gear. from the interview on skydive radio, b burke did say that 270s and bigger are allowed on the lz by the wind tunnel at any time. if their was a tram out there to bring people back i think all those wanting to swoop would move out that way. light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak
