Skydiver’s Near-Death Experience Points To Lax Industry Oversight
DougH replied to airdvr's topic in Safety and Training
Maybe so, but a lack of oversight doesn't appear to have caused this accident. It appears to have been caused by a DGIT who snuck a go pro onto the load, when he was still trying to figure out what the hell he was doing. Premature deployments happen. Sometimes you end up with a good canopy, other times it evolves into a ball of shit! That is why we teach gear checks and emergency procedures. They are calling it multiple names now, Charlotte, Nemo... probably some others. They should have named it: The Weather Casters Are a Bunch of Sensationalizing Chicken Little The Sky Is Falling Douches. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Didn't they already shoot up two civilians in a car because they thought it was his vehicle? At this point they would probably gun him down if he approached naked and hands up in the air. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Time to close the other Welfare program that is the USPS
DougH replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
Funny, you don't mind shitting on other areas of the constitution / existing constitutional amendments. If it is flexible on 2a... then it certainly is flexible on the post office. Personally I like the USPS, but it needs a major overhaul. Centralized mail delivery locations instead of mail box delivery. Integration into existing locations like supermarkets to cut infrastructure costs. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Interestingly enough, douches often do. Are you saying that douches buy up advertising slots? I think you are on to something here. Every time I turn on my TV it is some advertisement for some ambulance chasing law firm, or some commercial for Liberator Medical. Just what I need blood suckers, and soft touch catheters. Maybe that is why they are so hard on the gun control slant. Coverage on safe driving would cut into their ambulance chaser ad revenue??? Glad i left Eloy when team qatar showed up....
DougH replied to girthy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Is this military jumpers from Qatar? I visited Deland a few years back when they were doing a training for a bunch of military officers from there. I only visited for a short while, but I don't recall any problems. I guess Eloy has the contract now. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
That seems to be the argument, Paul. It's also come to automatic suspension for a kid who got the shit beaten out of him because he was engaged in fighting. And a kid being suspended for zero tolerance because she took an aspirin at school. And even a kid being suspended for simulating a hand grenade. These are the times. Big fun. Pretty sad, that the last decade or two of school administration likes to overreact about everything except for actually keeping students safe. Zero tolerance for dodge ball and other activities that run a small risk of fat lips. Zero tolerance for snack machines, because some children's parents can't manage their children's weight. Taking measures that actually make schools safe... whoooooo hold on a minute, that might take more than just brainless application, it might cost money. Wouldn't want to spend more on student safety if it cut into my school superintendent salary. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I tend to think life would still be rather exciting without needed to shit on other peoples beliefs. Does people believing in god for what ever reason, make the said Professor's mathematics any less challenging or interesting to him. People like that aren't interesting, chances are if they are all ways shitting on other people, then they are probably pieces of shit! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Hm. A Ph.D. mathemetician actually skeptical of something lacking empirical scientific proof. Shocking. Unless those people were pushing their beliefs, or bring the point up for debate, said professor would just be a huge douche. There is a fine line between being enlightened, and being an ignoramus. Should they? Really? Does that seem reasonable to you? That every entry into a government run school should be locked and a person has to be buzzed in? I'll admit the entrance to the area the KIDS are in needs to be secured, but the front office? Really? That makes no sense. The reason the KIDS need to be secured is so strangers don't wander into the school and kidnap or molest or whatever, but the front office? No. That's non-sense. When is the last time you were in a typical school??? The front office is in the front, normally a closed off area off of the main entrance and 99% of the time the classrooms are right after the main office along some big open hallways. There is no staging area to lock up and keep people separated from students. If you are in the front door you are IN the school. There are no doors separating where the office is from the rest of the school is, except for maybe automatic fire doors. You want crazy people that have access to children. You have to be shitting me. The argument is that there is too many evil and ill people in this country, that assault weapons and high capacity magazines are too much of a risk for society, even when in the hands of legal sane owners. All these crazies, better remove as many guns as possible. Certainly we should be focusing equally on keeping those individuals out of our schools and away from our children. You must both hate guns, and hope for dead children if you are willing to take away guns, but not better protect schools. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

We could say that about lots of service jobs. Maids, waitresses, delivery people. I acknowledge that they have a real shitty job. Most are getting paid minimum wage, and many many guests are absolute slobs and make them work way too hard. That is why I try to tip something, and I also try to keep the room extra clean. There is no free lunch either. If S&P is sued out of existence it will hit bond funds that peoples pensions depend on, it will raise the cost of mortgages, probably even trickle down in other consumer credit markets. People refuse to admit how interconnected everything is. I still want to see the lawsuits against government officials, speculators, and idiots that took out mortgages for houses they never could afford. I won't hold my breath. It speaks to an overall trend involving the police department, and about how they are performing their job in general. So if this was your police department, would this make you feel better or worse about their overall performance? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
The Supreme Court also thinks that a corporation is a person protected by the constitution, and back in the day they ruled that Dred Scott was personal property with no right to sue in Federal court. In other words, they don't always get it right. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

There was more than just white collar crime involved in this crisis. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I don't disagree with this. That being said fair is fair. I expect to see lawsuits against every culpable party. We need to sue the individuals at the SEC and other regulators who were taking a government salary, and were asleep at the switches. We need to sue the individuals in government agencies, all the way up the chain to the presidential administrations, that was responsible for loosening government lending standards in order to drive up home ownership. We need to sue the pseudo government agencies like Freddie and Fannie, including past executives, and a claw back of prior investor profits. We need to sue individual homeowners who were guilty of negligent borrowing. If you were a pizza delivery guy that took out a liar loan on a 700k house then fuck you, your owe the rest of us retribution, because you were a key element of this fuck up. I am sure there are others. Sue them all, I don't fucking care. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

No different that the logic that says the chances of me ever needing a gun in my lifetime are minuscule, so I better carry one around all the time. Just like I carry a fire extinguisher with me every where I go. I wouldn't fault you for carrying a fire extinguisher in your car, it is a convenient location. If you are willing to spare the small amount of cargo space, and the money to properly mount it and service it, then you will always have it at your disposal. Chances of using it are very small, but you would be at a great advantage it if you needed one. I put out a small car fire with the fire extinguisher in my old truck. Some dumb ass flicked his butt out the window and it went back in his back car window and got his rear seat smoldering. Again I wouldn't fault you for carrying a gun on your person, your person is a convenient location to have a handgun, if you have the legal authority to do so. Same as the fire extinguisher you should be willing to spend the money that entails, which includes a proper holster to eliminate accidental discharges, and training to keep your firearms skills fresh. It is a small inconvenience to have a gun on your person. I pay for a permit, expenses to have regular access to a gun range. I don't drink when carrying and I have to be mindful to avoid locations where a firearm is prohibited. Physically is a small inconvenience at best, mine isn't heavy, conceals well, no issues. Just like the fire extinguisher you can make your own choice. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -

More fantastic logic... guns don't perform CPR on 5 year olds = guns are useless. It would be a perfect example for why parents should go get CPR training, instead of relying only on emergency services. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
