Just like drug dealers, and that first free hit of crack. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Could you please elaborate JP. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

What can we do about Skyride?
DougH replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Did skyride give them the address, or did the student show up because thats is who they thought they bought the ticket from? Shit if skyride is sending jumpers to your NON skyride dz then that is awesome. If you can't get rid of skyride at least make the best of a shity situation! Get them on the phone with the credit card company to dispute the transaction, and then have them do a tandem at your place. Why does that sound so familiar??!! Did he author a bunch of rock climbing books? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I thought in the texas accident the collision was up high, even though the cutaway's were both low. I wonder if you get hit hard __at__ 700 feet where you are going to be altitude wise by the time you actually react. That is why my personal choice is to fire my reserve without cutting away. I doubt if I get clobbered at 700 feet I am going to react instantly. So where do I end up then? 600 feet? 500 feet? Lower maybe. I am glad we see eye to eye on this.... Ok now I am off to go ban the internet, to keep me from making stupid comments on it. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
-
Columbo... I like that. Would it be better if I said that you went to a bank that was frequently robbed? I might have fudged my example, but the comment about banning banks is still out of left field. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I was hoping I could get some help with a rough ballpark idea of what some of the older camera models are worth? I want to get an older pc series for catching landings and other fun stuff that goes on at the dz. Near the end of the season I might shoot some in air video with it too. So with new models like the HC1 and HC3 pushing under 1k what would some one look to pay for something like a pc109? Thanks!!! If you went out of your way to go to the crapiest bank, in the middle of the fucking ghetto, and then it got robbed you might want to stop to think about how your choice of location influenced the amount of risk you exposed yourself to. Please tell me that 300ft is a typo, and that you meant to type 3000ft. Don't forget that you can just as easily take some one out at three grand if you are yanking on risers and whipping toggles while not paying attention. Why don't you practice something useful instead, like flat turns and stall recovery. Why do you need to be practicing hook turns at 40 jumps? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Whose fault is that? You old farts need to stop letting us get away with stuff like that. Set us straight, we just need some sport death mentors. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Skyride doesn't send you to the local dz. They send you to an "affiliated" drop zone that will accept their vouchers. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
So true!!!!!!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Wait you mean this is all a scam!!!!!! Thanks for being a buzz kill, you really killed my night. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Cute, but that doesn't seem to be the point that this thread is trying to get across. Now if you picked a particularly high curb, and then tried to do some dumbass move like a backwards monkey flip with a twist off of it then you might be on to something. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

10!!!!!!!!!!! How do you guys manage with that much traffic. I have seen more then 10 jumpers in the air before at a DZ that only flys a single C-182. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Along the same lines no one can guarantee their extra gear will save them when they screw up!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Has anybody had any experience with NAA Eagle Mains??
DougH replied to stitch's topic in Gear and Rigging
Subtle. I have seen them advertised in paragear, but I have never seen one in the air, and I have never seen a used one for sale. So what is wrong with them? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Any one who lands using a technique that reaches a higher landing speed then they would normally reach under their canopy during a normal box landing pattern with conservative 90 degree toggle turn on to final? But that can't be right, that means I am a swooper when I sometimes use double fronts after my turn to final. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

The Sensationalism TV Skydive Gone Wrong
DougH replied to nvknight04's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No I don't think that is right, well at least I won't. I said it amuses me, it doesn't trouble me personally in any way. They are joking with the tandem after a jump. This isn't false advertising, it is friendly humor. They aren't telling people that skydiving is completely safe __before__ the jump. What troubles me is that after the first jump course some people don't realize on their own how dangerous it can be My post wasn't a bash on the DZO's. I always chuckle when I hear them tell a tandem after the jump "now you have to do the dangerous part, drive home". But what worries me is that some people still believe that many jumps later. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
It is also nice because you can let the other people at the DZ know that your OK. I have had to look for some one who landed off on a night jump, and we all wished she had her cell phone!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Van Jr. told me a story once about having to "de spine" some poor first jump student when he was younger. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I don't think the price excludes people at all, I think it is the oposite. If the cost of a tandem was a large investment for people I would expect to see more of them continue. Tandems don't invest in the sport. They spend 10 minutes of their time, no effort spent training, and money they would piss down the drain some other way. After they are done they get their tshirt, and having nothing invested, they have no reason to continue. People getting hooked after a tandem is rare.
