Bring it in, we'll see what's up with it. If it's too short, you'll never really get the performance out of it, and it will tire you out. If it's too long, it won't perform well either.
-
Nice key. Please get proper training before jumping with the new wing? Some of your tracking jumps have provided cause for concern; you've noticed others telling you the same. Wingsuiting is different than tracking. Come over to Elsinore, FFC is on me, if you'll just come over the mountain. I'd be happy to take the time out to help a fellow media professional and fledgling wingsuiter.

It's only silly because you didn't RTFM (and probably ignored the prompts that come up when you create a stabilized file). Like I said...it's not plug n' play (for any application). If you're new to video editing, either RTFM, follow the prompts, and/or view the embedded tutorial. Recompression causes a huge hit on quality, and the alternative to not doing it right is that the app makes your video look bad. Instead of concerns about file size, people would then be complaining about poor quality. Adding stabilize at the subclip level (stabilizing only the portions you want stabilized) will prevent huge file generation.
-
First, ALWAYS subclip the area to be stabilized. If you're only using 10 seconds of a 20 minute clip...ouch. Also, yes...the full version allows this. There is a bit of a curve for stabilizing; it can be autotragic if you don't know what you're doing with it. Happy to help you along the way.

Sparky is spending a lot less time on the web; it keeps his blood pressure down in doing so. I spoke with him last week, he's doing fine. His cell # hasn't changed.
-
Always format, never delete the memory card. Formatting cleans the card, deleting leaves behind fragments of files. This is true for all camera formats, but GoPro seems to have greater sensitivity.
-
Not always. Getting there from any mexican location isn't very difficult either (cancun is a popular jump-off spot).
-
No question about it. It adds benefit to any zoom. You'll find that most sport photographers use auto anyway. The primary issue is composition, and everything else comes secondary.
-
curiously enough, had my first experience with this camera today on the video side. Impressive.... Little experience with the stills side.

https://www.facebook.com/events/412121238879787/?fref=ts The Facebook page for the comp is up. We've received a few emails from people looking for partners at this event; the FB page is the best way to find one.

not really. The OOTB experience is probably best for ya.

it'll give you more options in post. Think of it as shooting RAW (It's not the same, but a similar concept) that offers some better post production options.

I get video head pretty much every day... And working on the Mexican Riviera...I'm not sure if I get lens envy, or I envy what my lens sees?

another "it's just a recommendation" kinda guy. cool. All we need is another Gerardo Flores person with mad skillz

It's a chinese gopro copy, built on the same chipset as the GoPro. The manufacturers are very difficult to deal with (from my perspective), and customer service would be an issue. At this point, it's just another pov camera. At this point, most of them are 'just another pov' camera. The mount is even less snag-friendly than a GP... And of course, the requisite commentary about 200 jumps seems to apply here.

Safety Day is coming soon; Is someone presenting on cameras at your DZ? Cameras are a known safety issue in our sport; it's the second most talked about subject here on DZ.com (cameras before 200 jumps, etc). I have a short Powerpoint presentation if it might help them in their Safety Day presentation. Ping me for a link, it's too large to attach here on DZ.com There is also a Wingsuit PPT available from years past. [edit] Enough people have asked; it saves time to post direct links. Download the PPT's and edit at will. Camera Presentation Wingsuit presentation

The size of my canopy and the dims of the container's stock dbag.

until you see footage from the camera, it's all merely measurbation over numbers. There are only a couple of chip manufacturers that provide the back end for these types of cameras; they all have the same back-end potential. It all comes down to whether they're all glass, all polycarb, or how they blend glass/poly carb for the best image, and then how they manage tuning for the codec, battery, and storage device. All that will depend on the price point + quantities they're targeting.

I didn't jump your MagBag, but have jumped bags using magnets. Never again....The various mods on the Berger design are far more preferable for a few reasons. I wanna try one of your bags as well. Knowing you, it's well thought-out, and will perform properly all the time.
-
Yep, I know. That much was kinda obvious from the start. He had already been asked to remove them prior to going on a flock. But...some of us were really happy for all the guinea pigs that bought a set.
-
No kidding. You'd think a mod might place em' all in one section. I'm trying to figure out which thread to post to about the dude that biffed in yesterday while wearing his Recon's. He claims he wasn't looking at the display (I believe him) but he had a hard time 'seeing past it." I expect to see em' for sale in the DZ.com Classifieds.

Skydiver’s Near-Death Experience Points To Lax Industry Oversight
DSE replied to airdvr's topic in Safety and Training
For the most part, virtually every experienced skydiver (and anyone who's been through a proper coach course) knows that involving the FAA in anything we do is a potentially grave mistake. The last thing anyone wants is an FAA ruling or opinion on any aspect of our sport. In other words, this is painfully obvious to most. If indeed Mr. Florez contacted the FAA to be any part of his mistake, it simply is another indicator of his lack of knowledge about the sport. -
We have jumpsuits for student (and visitor) use at Skydive Elsinore. You have your choice of Blue or blue. You'd want a jumpsuit, but a fancy one isn't necessary. My first 1500 jumps were on cheapo used from DZ.com classifieds. I still frequently wear my baggy one for lightweight student jumps. Fancy/spendy doesn't fly any better than old/cheap.

I have UPT bags in most of my RI Voodoo's and FX's.
