Firstly, thanks for all the videos! They are awesome and I really appreciate the effort. And although a little off topic I would also love to know what the hell happened with skysystems C6 helmet? Haven't seen anything about it, and after all the hype it's a little disappointing not to be getting some info.... Skysystems felt the helmet wasn't ready for primetime, and therefore declined to be interviewed.

Perhaps 'just a man' but that man happens to be the voice of SSK/Airtec, and is the president of PIA. I'll take him at his word; Mr Schmucker is a stand-up guy in my 8 years of having known him. I'm a 'mere customer.' Today I observed them speaking to many 'mere customers.' It *was* a pretty cheap shot. The only 'insider anything' I've rec'd from Airtec, CYPRES, or Mr. Schmucker would amount to the free mints they give away in their booth bowls. Search through the old PIA vids, you'll also find where I had some hard questions for Vigil, too.

not even close. Given the gutter gear we have to work with at this event, Scotty's been an amazing help as a camera operator. http://youtu.be/EyqAUW1I5qA Velocity - Flora http://youtu.be/Bk2GT7r4yrw Tony-Square 1 http://youtu.be/eY0zCiEcT_IPerris Tunnel - Mary Tortomasi

There are/were four WS seminars. Mine are already available. I'll let "Oh Shit Scotty" explain why Tony's sessions won't be seen.

Don't take this as a defense of CYPRES, but I do think Cliff addressed it pretty head-on in the interview we did. He didn't seem to be ducking any part of it.

The manufacturers are very, very grateful for the exposure. Some of them actually chase me down before the show. Although it's a ton of work (you can see the uploads are occurring at 4:00 a.m. with training sessions starting at 8:00 a.m.), they're a lot of fun, and folks have always seemed to appreciate the work. I think the non-rigging seminars should all be filmed/posted too. However, there is a large diff between the 10 minute FI's (Field Interviews) and an hour/2 hour long presentation, and there is a great difference between the volunteer room monitor that manages 9 training rooms vs needing 9 cameras going at once, with a minimum of 3 operators, and then the editing/collation/storage costs of the roughly 100 two-hour sessions. PIA doesn't have a grundle of $$, as they're entirely volunteer-based. It sure would be nice to have the ability to catch them all. PD is filming/uploading their own presentations, they can be found on the PD website after a while. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWQYV9zomIU Sunpath http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUc601k9O-g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZVScuFpqbw Vigil http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-2VAPlPCng Zodiak http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8YRozs47lMMars M2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWa9uU-QJ7oRoberta Mancino http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGNQvmLC3fcJerry Baumchen/No Sto Bag http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUc601k9O-g ParaGear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGsNeTFcf4sCPS/Fred Williams http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nWHgCUI6-A Sonic/Tonfly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1EGGML_hJ8CYPRES/Cliff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdglEU14puMStrong Enterprises/TNT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_wNQxrs8akAlti-2/Sandy Bobo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhPKbggRacQNevada Airlift Group http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhPKbggRacQ Mirage/Jeannie http://youtu.be/Bk2GT7r4yrw Square 1/Tony http://youtu.be/kI1igfIfbIo Manley Butler/Butler Parachute systems

That's correct. Just like if you have a physical book and lend it to a friend, you cannot read it while he has it.
-
The loan program is great. You can lend the book to a friend for 14 days, during which you won't be able to read the book yourself, no different than lending an analog book to a friend (you can't read it while they have it). I didn't realize I couldn't read it, loaned my copy to a friend, and then found I couldn't read it on my cell any longer (even though it was a local copy).

Should the USPA Board be required to vote by name?
DSE replied to EFS4LIFE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Actually...you do. And in the exceptionally small microcosm of skydiving, we as members do have a right (and perhaps responsibility) to question hires if it appears that they are not cost-effective nor qualified for the job. -
Yes to all of the above. You can locally download, and read it locally, or read it from the cloud. Or travel, realize you forgot to download it, and read it on the cloud or download to any device you have authorized on your Amazon account. If you have an Amazon Prime account, you can loan the book to a friend for a period of time

Should the USPA Board be required to vote by name?
DSE replied to EFS4LIFE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's actually very, very easy, and I was streaming to select people during the MSP and Daytona meetings. Jan Meyer wanted to do this, but was shut down for whatever reason. That said, it also would generate a shit-ton of emails during the meeting. During this last meeting, there were many hysterical emails coming in due to facebook postings and pleadings. One can only imagine the traffic if there was a live webcam. -
Thank you for the words. It's a lot of work/hours.

There are companies that print the Kindle books. With all the color, the cost of a print is a couple hundred bucks. In quantity, the best price i could get the book printed would cause an end price of around 85.00. I dunno about you, but I wouldn't pay 85.00 for most any book.
-
When you buy the book from Amazon, you'll want to do it via a Kindle reader or an application that is kindle-compatible. It lives in the Amazon cloud, so as long as you have an amazon account and a device/app that will display the book, you can read anywhere. The primary idea for the book is to have it available on a tablet at the DZ or in planning a formation. There is a free app for pc and Apple systems, and the book will open on the Linux systems using Amazon Cloud Reader. The file format is a .mobi file wrapped in Amazon Kindle security.

Should the USPA Board be required to vote by name?
DSE replied to EFS4LIFE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thoughts on those that vote, and then have later have their vote changed to 'Abstain' for reasons of not wanting to be the only opposing vote on an otherwise unanimous issue? -

What legal liability does an organizer have?
DSE replied to mirage62's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Mr. Feldman used the above scenario, as well as the general commentary on the Sydney incident to point out multiple points where the argument is valid that organizers may be found responsible for incidents that occur during say...bigways. -
What legal liability does an organizer have?
DSE replied to mirage62's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'd wager that it's next to none. A good lawyer and a smart skydiver might be able to push a suit against a bad lawyer, but it's likely a crap shoot. Real world scenario, an organizer promised a group doing an experimental jump, that all the people who were part of the jump had a minimum of 100 jumps in the discipline, and had 'personally checked everyone out." Second jump of the project, a jumper was stuck hard enough in the back of the head to tear the cochlea, crack a helmet, knock off the camera, etc. The jumper is now legally deaf in one ear. It later came out that the person causing the accident had 30 jumps, no coaching/training beyond his FFC, and had probably smoked up that morning. The injured jumper lost their career, retirement, and health benefits as a result of the accident. Who is responsible? The organizer or the person causing the injury? A good lawyer can argue that the waiver only holds the DZ and employees harmless, but it likely won't cover an organizer not employed by the DZ. I'll ask Robert Feldman's opinion, and will report his response. -
