    And that happened in America?
  2. A-Very few of the American Jewish are from Israel. The most influential people were born before Israel was even established as a state in the late 40's. Therefore, it isn't "their homeland." Do you see American Catholics calling Rome their "homeland?" B-The wealth discussed in the article has little to do with Israel. Israel may be the homeland of Judaism, but that's about where it ends. The article is showing pride in their culture. C-An understanding of Middle East politics, economics, and resources might help answer your question better.
  3. Flag it. Notify YouTube that it's a copyright violation. They'll remove it. Unless of course, you'd rather embarass him. Another option is to post it yourself, then post the link to your YouTube version in his channel. BTW, I flagged it as copyright violation/TOS violation.

    1-800-SkyRide

Aside from this board being meaningless, Skyride is likely gaining ground, not losing. Even if they lose their lawsuit with the state of Georgia, Utah, Skydive Arizona, and whomever else is suing them....it won't matter much. It's like Ford and the Pinto; they knew the cars would blow up, but bet that they could sell more cars and make profit than it would cost them in court costs/payout. Ford won in that gamble.
  5. Not only did I read it, I saw/heard it for myself before it was deleted from YouTube. I'm embarassed that she calls herself "American." There is no excuse for calling Christians "perfect Jews." There is no excuse for her saying that "Jews need to be perfected." The most dishonest businesspeople I've ever had the opportunity to work with are "devout," loudly-proclaimed Christians. Coupled with Ann Coulter's nonsense, it would be easer for me to take the position that all Christians are horrible, revolting parodies of humanity. I do hope I'm above such stupidity.
  6. Sounds like you need flexibility. If so, you're *best* option is a good still cam such as Quade suggests, and an intervalometer. Many of the Artbeats libraries (world famous for time-lapse) were shot by Phil Bates using two 20D's and synced intervalometers. Wow...a year of T/L. That's serious stuff. Never done anything that long. You can pan/zoom, but you must do it in small increments, over long times, because if you pan/zoom like you normally would, it'll be very jumpy. Pans/zooms are usually calculated. I used a Sony HVR-V1U during Jay Stoke's world record, and got some sweet views in there, until the morning came and the local TV bimbo parked her fat butt in front of the camcorder for 20 mins before we noticed. Jay's final jump was blocked out by her ass (literally).
  7. I take it that you advocate that: -Christians are perfected Jews -Jews need to be perfected? Neither statement is politically correct, and both are non-truths.
  8. Tree landings as per SIM: Trees 1. Avoid trees by careful spotting and a good approach pattern plan for the conditions. 2. The potential dangers of landing in a tree extend until you are rescued and safely on the ground. 3. Make any low-altitude avoidance turns from braked flight to avoid an equally dangerous dive following a turn from full flight. 4. If a tree landing is unavoidable: a. With a ram-air canopy, hold the toggles at half brakes until tree contact. b. Prepare for a PLF; often the jumper passes through the tree and lands on the ground. c. Protect your body. (1) Keep feet and knees tightly together. (2) Do not cross your feet or legs. (3) Cover your face with your hands while holding your elbows tightly against your stomach. d. Steer for the middle of the tree, then hold on to the trunk or main branch to avoid falling. e. If suspended above the ground, wait for help from drop zone personnel to get down. f. Don't attempt to climb down from a tree without competent assistance (rescue personnel or properly trained drop zone staff). LegallyGirl, your dropzone staff should be able to show you everything you want to know about a reserve. Someone always needs to have their reserve repacked. The reserve is a different packjob that takes significantly more time, care, and consideration. Riggers use tools that help them keep all lines clean, and help assure that the reserve will open properly and quickly. Riggers are specially trained in packing reserves, and their training/certification is regulated by the FAA in the US. Anyone that is a skydiver may pack a main parachute, and packing the main by yourself is a requirement to obtain a license.
  9. I feel she should be permitted encouraged to continue, and would like to see similar comments on a bigger stage. Larry King, maybe? Better yet, Leno or Letterman.
  10. It's pretty hard to mess up 8:1 temporal compression (time lapse). Here is a table that Sony provides to XDCAM users, it's basically the same thing with a VX. 1-5 frames per interval is good, and intervals of every 2 seconds will yield one 60 seconds per hour of content. Since you've got a "short" event of 8 hours, you could shoot 3 fpi, with a 5 second interval and it would be very smooth. We shot the building of a set a few years ago, shot at 1 frame every 10 mins, and it looked terrific. However, it was a 40 day shoot, too. The eye adjusts very quickly to whatever cadence you select.
  11. Are you sure 'bout dat? After all, there is a museum in Kentucky that has dinosaurs and Noah's Ark in the same display, and they offer proof that the earth is 5000 years old. From real scientists and everything.
  12. Was Milton in a movie?
  13. Didn't read your link, but yes, nose oil is a great party pleaser. Wipe your nose (or behind your ears) and that oil is great for dissolving the head on beer. Also a good lip balm, and thread lubricant for threading needles and lens/filter threads. Some people say their nose oil tastes good
  14. Sandy Reid's book is very well-written, concise, and the illustrations are worth the proverbial thousand words.
  15. Nah, didn't come out of nowhere. Michael is responding to my original post which I'd edited after someone pointed out it may be seen as a challenge to what Michael is working on in skydiving, and it wasn't intended that way. Michael must have already been working on his response when I edited the post. Go Michael!
  16. Wow. You're a busy dude!! Editing the FAA rigger's manual (pretty cool you have that kind of an eye for detail). Wish my employees were motivated like you.
  17. All you *need* is a universal mount and the camera. No one builds a box just yet, but one is forthcoming from two different manufacturers, I'm told. you'll probably want a QR. You could side mount it or top mount. I'm a top mount fan, many others like sides. So:' Universal L bracket for side mount. Universal Topper for top mount. Quick release-could be Goldmember, Schumacher, Cookie, or other. You'd probably want a strap to double secure the camera so it's not secured only by the bottom screw, although this cam is exceptionally light (Lightest camcorder currently made in HD). You can buy from Bonehead, Paragear, or most any gear dealer out there.
  18. had to shoot while there was *some* snow, otherwise I'd have to Pshop it in. Gotta get those greeting cards to the printer. I'll show you the shot we used when I see you in NYC. Here's the 3 minute Pshop so you get more snow

And at some point, it probably will be. On the other hand, the playing field has been tilted for so long, it's going to take a while until it's not only leveled out, but has been tilted some in the other direction. When was the last person beaten, raped, robbed, cross burned, noose hung, or whatever else exclusively because they were a Pole, Italian, or Irish? Even then, Poles, Italians, and Irish come from the same pool of humanity. Africans, Asians, Jews, indigenous people, as mass cultures have been very recently displaced as compared to other cultures. Perhaps it won't take the many years it's taken since the Moors settled out Europe's cultural differences.

Gotcha. >>>>>>> The University of Arizona newspaper is spending a lot of valuable time apologizing for a cartoon that was denigrating to Jewish people. The published cartoon can be seen here. But heck...racial denigration doesn't happen anymore in the USA. It was a joke! Coincidentally, tonight's "Nightline" has a 22 minute segment on hate crimes committed by skinheads and their filmed exploits of beating non-whites.
  21. If that was shot on film, your scanner might be mis-set, or maybe your film was old? Used to see this sometimes with TriX...but it's been a long time since I've shot real film for anything, moving or still.
  22. It's that time of year...we even have snow.
  23. We've got a few Stroboframes (two whose mounts have walked off somewhere), and have only one that went sloppy, it's the most heavily used, but after it slopped for a while, one of the red holding tabs broke off. Granted, I'm putting a reasonably heavy cam on it, but it's supposed to be rated for 12lbs. A Sony Z1 with a wide is heavy, but less than 12 lbs. Based on your experiences, seems maybe I let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch.

why/how were they treating him different? Treating him faster? With less compassion? More compassion? I agree with your points on perception, particularly in matters of choice. My guy was wearing our standard 'uniform' of a golf shirt, nice jeans, and well groomed, no different than anyone else. I have my peeves about how he was inked, but it also didn' prevent me from getting to know him and his history.

One of our former employees is heavily tattooed, pierced, etc. We had one client that didn't want him in their offices, simply because of how he looked. We explained that regardless of how they perceived him, if they wanted quality lighting, he'd stay. If they wanted mediocre lighting, he could leave. I'd like to say it surprised me that they'd made up their mind about this very quiet, incredibly talented young man (who is now working on the new "Batman" in the UK) who is honest, respectful, and creative, based on his appearance and nothing more. I admit, I looked at him funny once in a while, but only because I was trying to decipher some of his tats.
