DZ's in the area; there are two. One is more "family" oriented and the other is the "Red Bull" crowd. Both have turbine aircraft, both are nice places to jump. One has huge landing area, other doesn't. One overlooks the lake and very few roads, other is right on the freeway and is near a tunnel. SLC is a fun place, lots to do if you're into outdoor sports n' activities. Mormon influence is strong, but it's less than its ever been. Pubs are for beer, clubs are for harder stuff and that's a serious PITA for some. Between very high alpine-type areas to deep sand deserts, there is always something to do. Or not.

premiere will eventually support it. Adobe is usually late to the game. Took them what....10 years to support DVCProHD, and to do that, they had to buy Serious Magic. I wouldn't worry about the format that much, there are several options in place for the Premiere user, such as Elecard. It merely means the editing/ingest time becomes longer until Adobe releases AVCHD support, which I expect will come before April.

Get a real bike while you're at it, will ya? That Hardly logo sure sticks out. 'Course....Hardleys run about like early versions of Vista, so maybe you'll get it running smooth without the discs.

Premiere currently does not support AVCHD. Vegas, Liquid, Ulead Movie Studio, Pinnacle Studio, iMovie, FCS2, Canopus Edius all support AVCHD. No codec to download, even Windows Movie Maker with the update supports it. Just not Adobe.

I think you'll find their statement is a little CYA. They say the same thing with the HVR series, and I've never needed the drivers. Using both Movie Studio Platinum and Vegas Pro

A week ago with Shlomi and Ori in Haifa, Israel. 4' of snow back home. Next stop, JB, Malaysia.

no, you will not. Depending on the model, you may get a far worse picture than a model that correctly/accurately downscales to 720p. If the display can't deliver a full 1920 x 1080, then it scales the image. The quality of the scaler is where the price comes in. Very old article I wrote, predicting where we are today. Wasn't far off, even in late 2004. Point is, if you want full 1080, you need to pony up. The monitor needs to have a full 1440 x 1080 at *minimum) to display "full HD" (which is a marketing term, but it works). If the scaler sucks, you'll be worse off if you purchased a much cheaper 1280 x 720 display. Getting a "tweenie" monitor is one of the worst things you can do. Either go full bore and go for true 1920 x 1080p display, or cheap out and buy a 1280 x 720p display. HDMI delivers over both. played with PS3 on a 46" Sharp Aquos that was pretty nice. Still not a Bravia II, but very nice. Contact either Darrell at New Magic.AU or David Hague at VideoCamera.au in Perth, ask their opin's, tell em' I sent you. Both are pretty independent thinkers, both are exceptionally HD savvy in Oz.

PAL is also the standard in S'pore. Dunno about prices in SA, but point is, if you can buy for so much less from B&H or Armatos, it doesn't matter if you're in SA or not, the import tariffs are still likely less than the cost of a camcorder here. Perhaps not. A comparison would turn that up, I s'pose.
-
Advice: Nothing. I'm in S'pore right now, (wanna meet for lunch?) and prices here are far higher than in the states. I planned on buying another 580EX II, best price I could find (and this is with very connected local help) was 422.00. I can buy same from B&H for 349.00 and 14.00 overnight shipping. OS-3 cable in the US; 49.90. Here? 88.00. ] CX7 in States? About 970.00, but here...1300.00 I'm here on behalf of Sony Broadcast Professional, and according to them, the import tariff makes most electronics these days far higher. Besides, as you go down Orchard, most of the shops are like the very bad NYC shops, no warranty and willing to steal your shorts. Computer parts are a very different tale. Picked up another BD burner for very cheep in the Computer Mall. Just ask, you'll find it. I'm here for 3 more days, call the Le Meridien if you're in town by then.

I believe you might be able to flip the Tonfly mount by 180 on demand?

Always use manual focus. Set it to where it is in focus as you look through the lens at something that is approx 10' away from you. It'll be nearer to the close and not infinity setting with the Cookie lens. Steadishot is difficult to access; go into the Movie settings and you'll find it. Disable it. While you're there, turn on XV color. You might also want to push the color sat up one value. Set cam to HQ mode. RTFM.

Five killed in Colorado Springs. Armed guard in the church shot, killed gunman.
-
a; I'd expect fluttering effects if you don't have focus. b; manual focus c; why did you get on a plane without checking focus first? d; you can't zoom through a single element lens such as the Cookie is.

Yup, I've done the same thing, I have a 2.5mm adaptor on the end of the Canon N3 cable, so I can swap between my 400d and 40d. Very slick way to work w/it, IMO. Smart to make it commercial, Laszlo!

I'm not much into the consumer monitor side of things; most of the monitors I see here in the US support 1080p now, even if they're not native 1080 displays. I don't know what sells in the UK or Australia, for example. You might contact the guys at New Magic Australia for some input. I'm predominantly familiar with the b'cast side of the monitor world but a quick Google turned up a lot of monitors.
-
Search will get you started. "Full HD" is 1920 x 1080p. A monitor of 1680 x 1050 is not a "full HD" monitor. The PS3 outputs dual 1920 x 1080 streams. Your computer monitor card may not necessarily support this resolution.

If you're referring to the Canon HV10 camcorder forget about it for skydiving.

Read the story Can't say I'm surprised, and definitely not disappointed. The two stores I've dealt with have left a lot to be desired.

Yup, a latino is a very hard worker. At my highschool and summer job delivering catering equipment and putting up tents we wouldn't hire white people or small to middle sized black dudes for permanent positions. They would usually turn out to be lazy and irreverent. It was either latinos, black dudes big enough for the heavy lifting, or white/black/chinese/whatever college kids back home on break. Amazing someone could make this sort of stereotypical statement with a straight face. Come west, you'll find that there are lazy Latinos just like there are lazy Asians, Africans, or whatever. In Singapore, listened to a friend go on last night about how "lazy the Malay's are." Yet being in Malaysia last week, I see how industrious the Malay's are. From your statement, I've not ever seen many smart nor creative white persons, either. Americans are all fat and lazy. Probably because they have the Mexicans. That's it! Blame the Latinos for American obesity. In the west, we routinely see migrant groups, but I think the 'way of the hobo' went away with changes in the train system.

Exactly why I chose to not purchase either of my rigs from them; if they weren't responding to pre-sales questions, how would they manage customer service? (I'm sure it's fine, yet not willing to take the risk). I hope you get to see the place, if it's anything like the Rigging Innovations or RWS facilities, it's worth the time for sure!

ain't gonna happen. You won't see a thin camera, at least not this year. Of the 2 models I've seen they're both in the vein of the CX and HC series

why are some dv tapes shit (sony) an others are not

I don't know who OEM's TDK, but my guess would be that it's a mix of companies, topping out with Fuji on the high-end TDK. It's a WAG, so don't build gospel on it. -
my "georgia" state car license plate says that.. I doubt Olav would sue. According to the Office of Trademarks and Patents, the words "Freefly and "Free Fly" are not trademarked. Perhaps they were at one time? A title or work/combination of words may not be trademarked when part of common context.

In terms of formats, they're already all out. In terms of new products, you've got about another 40 days before you hear about the new products that use the already-existing formats. SD DV is officially soon dead in the Sony consumer world, however. No more DV cams to be manufactured after mid year 2008.
