  1. That was excellent!.
  2. yes, the CX7, SR12, SR10 all have the D link connector.
  3. the AMP and ETrade commercials got my vote. When the baby spit up at the end of the eTrade commercial, it had everyone in the room rolling.
  4. the footage used can be seen on the Artbeats website, www.artbeats.com and search for the Free Fall library, clip 122 if memory serves.
  5. Incredible! thank for sharing the vid. Was anything recoverable on any of the gear? Obviously you found the helmet.
  6. There are some D-link control options coming from (apparently) more than one source, if you want to wait for that. You could build a fiber optic cable that shows the record light when it's engaged. Youc an bug other jumpers with "Is my record light on?" Or you could sell/trade what you have for another low cost/used camera that had a LANC, front indicator, or both. Not a lot of options at this very moment, wish I had something better to offer you.
  7. Same challenge to you...what SPECIFICALLY have I said that isn't accurate? And, you're absolutely right. We'll never know the true nature of Joseph Smith, Jesus, Bhudda, Mohammed, or any other prophet until after we're dead, so at this point, it's a meaningless argument. At the end of the day, the best thing to say perhaps, is that if you want to know more about the LDS faith, then ask for a book of mormon. It's an easy read. Read the 1838 version as well. In the meantime, I'll stick to being a Frisbeetarian.
  8. The songs are individually available for .69 cents, or all 12 songs (avg count) for 6.90 as a complete album. Or, the physical copy of an album can be purchased in a store for a higher price, most are super-saver priced at this point, but all are sub-10.00, excepting one CD. Does that make it more clear? To answer Warp's question...yeah, if I took a product that Martin was selling and made it available for free on line, he's entirely within his rights to consider me a thief, because that's exactly what I would be. If Martin put the product out into the world for free and I chose to distribute it without his permission, I don't know that I'd be a thief, but rather an unauthorized distributor of his product, and still legally at risk.
  9. The songs can be purchased for as little as .69 per song, or 6.90 online. How much more cheaply does it need to be?
  10. Please identify any CD produced within the past 12 months that has DRM applied to it? Please identify for me, how I could have in any way, incentivized pirates to copy my CD's of music? They have no DRM. They are available for less than $9.00 per CD. The CDs are distributed ranging from Walmart to iTunes to Amazon. There is nothing to crack. There is nothing to make it less cost effective. Bottom line, there will always be assholes that steal simply because they can.
  11. Jump tickets are obscenely overpriced too. Howzabout you go destroy an aircraft or two? It's interesting to read the various excuses for why pirates do what they do. Strange thing, I used their search tool to see how many of your works are pirated. Couldn't find one. In Sweden, the taxes are abysmal. I was on your own Nyhetsmorgon with your own economic director and we spoke of piracy (I was in Sweden to perform at Dalhalla, Jokmok, Goteborg, Stockholm, and other areas), and his comment at the time was that pirates were incredibly damaging to Sweden's reputation, economy, and IT morale. Sweden has no choice but to try to shut down these criminals, as if they don't stop, they'll become a pariah. All because they're currently a safe harbor for pirates and the tools pirates use. BTW, the 'virus' (which wasn't a virus but a rootkit that called home) of which you speak, wasn't a Sony thing, it was done by BMG, who contracted the technology out of Sweden. BMG was purchased by Sony, and there is no dispute that BMG didn't notify Sony that the software was attached. Which is why only select, and BMG only CDs had the rootkit on them. It was gone the moment Sony learned of it. Additionally, no CDs are set up for non-MP3 ripping any more. DRM is effectively gone from CD's, and it was a *very* short-lived period that it did exist. So... ~obscene pricing (that's subjective, so can't argue) ~Rootkits (gone) ~DRM on CD's (gone) Are all excuses why you're willing to steal. I call bullshit. Software, movies, art, music are all up there, and people steal it simply because they can. It has nothing to do with any of the reasons you cite above. As Skydyver put it, if it's only a moral barrier, a lot of people will steal. Which in my mind makes them hypocritical scum. You won't find illegal software, music, or video on any of our nearly 100 computers. If we ever did find one, it's grounds for immediate termination of employment.
  12. Uh...US Copyright laws apply the world over, excepting very small and obscure situations. Berne Convention amongst others assures that. yeah, I know how a torrent site works. They don't actually steal your car, they're the valet with the open keybox who not only allows any thief to take any car, but they actively advertise that they have the keys to every car in the lot and encourage people to steal the cars. But since they're not the ones driving the cars out of the lot, they're not the actual thieves themselves. how the fuck has the entertainment industry "tried to stop development?" That is one of the most STUPID things I've read on DZ.com, ever. None of my CDs have any sort of copyright protection on them. How the fuck was I or my record label complicit in stopping any development? The entertainment industry entertains. Period. They try to put locks on their product, just like you have locks on your doors. Do you ever lock your door? Car door? House door? Gear box? Locker at work or gym? If you do, then you have a double standard. "It's OK for me to steal from others, but you can't steal from me."

I am a member of Nikon Professional Services and am quite happy with going with Nikon. Most folks around can't qualify for Nikon Professional Services. The *majority* of folks around here don't have 5K to drop on a single lens. Additionally, on the general whole, which cameras are popular at the moment are very much regional. That said, in Skydiving there are three very big names, and then a lot of lesser names. The three big (none of them sponsored) shoot canon. In our neck of the woods, there is one Nikon support store, and they suck. They have one large client (LDS church) and if you're not part of that organization's media corps, you get treated like shit. Canopies are regional too....
  14. So is jumping from an aircraft. "Choice" used to be a benefit of being an adult. I live where I do in part, because I'm still allowed to choose. Please don't encourage changing laws that remove my options to choose, particularly in the context of recreational experiences.

I slight Nikon predominantly out of their lack of customer service, and their lack of dedication to their customers. However, the difference between Canon and Nikon at the higher end is very negligible (other than Nikon is a bigger pain in the ass for skydiving photography). Each has their fan boys, and no, it's not the same as Coke or Pepsi. Pepsi sucks. At the end of the day, they're not all that different. Nikon is slightly better in low light, but they don't build their own image sensors, so I understand the "why." Their images at the high end is weak compared to Canon. Canon is much better in higher end native resolutions, but they build their own sensors. And they're damn good at it, both APSC and full-frame. Nikon has slightly less expensive lenses, and a far smaller selection of lenses. We use Nikkor glass on the various 35mm film adaptors, primarily because no one makes a 35mm adaptor for Canon glass. Otherwise, I'd be all over it. Bear in mind, I'm talking about DSLR vs film cams...and in that game, Canon is also significantly further ahead than anyone. You'll find that by a very wide margin, Canon is the far more used digital option in the world of professional photography. Just like there are a few skydiving videographers that use camcorders that aren't Sony, there is a population of photographers that use high-end digital that isn't Canon. And all that said, it's an opinion from someone who makes their living creating images with a camera, but it's still just an opinion.
  16. This won't shut them down. They'll just find another location to co-locate the site. I hate the fuckers. Assholes have 4 of my complete works on their website, and a pirate version of a pirated version of my work. We sent them a letter about a year ago, nicely asking them to observe our copyrights, and got a very short letter in response saying (literally) "Fuck you, if you don't want people to hear it, then don't record it. We're happy to suggest a baton that you can shove up your ass." Besides you can't have it both ways, as pirates obviously want it. When it comes to stealing, they want to play it the 21st century technology way, "we are a global community and we can share/steal from all over the globe." When it comes down to having their ass kicked because of that, they want to have it the 15th century way as in: "we live here, none of the global community crap, and only our local laws apply."

Nikon? Bite thy tongue. Canon. Go Canon all the way. BTW, this is coming from a guy that has at least 50k tied up in Nikkor glass in the film industry. Canon.
  18. I'd be stunned if your DZO wouldn't allow you to apply those funds to jumps (and it should be enough to finish your "A." We've got two people finishing their AFF at Eloy over the Valentines Day weekend. Come play.
  19. https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/desk/e/download.htm#quicktime[/url] This link will get you set up.
  20. Step one: Visit Orbitz.com Step two: Book a flight to Eloy. (Boise to PHX is cheap) Step three: Call and reserve a bunk Step four: Get an instructor at Eloy Step five: Fly down and finish your AFF in the warm Arizona sun. There are a bunch of us from Utah there over the Valentine's Day weekend...
  21. To add to Phree's post...if you're just in the general area of footage taken for stock purposes, but not specifically identified...or if you're knowingly in an area where filming is occuring, then you have zero say over where your image appears after that. In this particular case, Norman was pretty surprised that Hillary Clinton's media team had purchased this footage. I don't know (or care) what his political leanings might be one way or another. I think it's pretty cool that skydiving is seen in this light, however.
  22. I agree, the words are extremely harsh. However, the comment in Mr. Hart's post had me thinking he'd lost his son, and it compelled me to send Mr. Hart a brief note saying I was sorry for his loss. Now I feel a fool having now learned of the disease, and that the boy is alive. My niece has lupus, she's 31. It gives her a rough time sometimes, but lupus today isn't lupus of 20 years ago. None of that matters, IMO. A jump was done without USPA waiver, without USPA permission, and if the information posted publically is correct, a waiver was "submitted" after the fact. Adding in that it's a regional director, it sure seems that a 90 day suspension isn't disciplinary enough. Then again...none of us were present for the discussions, so without knowing all the facts, it's tough to judge.
  23. LUIGI CANI SETS NEW WORLD RECORD (Perris, California) February 1, 2008 - Brazilian stuntman Luigi Cani soars into history once again by landing the smallest, fastest parachute in the world! At just 37 square feet, the JVX-37 by NZ Aerosports is smaller than a twin bed sheet and flew at speeds over 100mph! In a class all his own, Cani is motivated by the challenge of breaking through boundaries to redefine the limits of extreme skydiving. As a leader in the sport of skydiving and canopy piloting, Cani helped pioneer competition parachute swooping under high-performance parachute wings for years. The average jumper's parachute is 300-500 percent larger than the JVX-37. This jump was particularly dangerous because a canopy this small has never been landed, thus there was no way to predetermine the speed at which he would impact the ground. Luigi has set two previous world parachuting records, holds the current world freefall record at 343mph, and recently jumped a motorcycle off the Grand Canyon, BASE jumping to the bottom. For more information on the record breaking stunt, video and photos, please contact Kelly Mclear, 310-994-2911 cell, Kelly@gofastsports.com
  24. I have no idea how you could possibly compare the two. I've got nearly 100 jumps on a CX7, it's been great. The Samsung...I wouldn't drop it on the floor, and you can see that fairly clearly in the pix I took at CES, picture quality not withstanding. The CX7 has a magnesium frame, I don't know what's inside the CX6, can't imagine it's any different. Samsung, I don't know what's in there, either, but it's cheap. It's fat, and it's light. I don't own a Samsung, having looked at the 10 last year and the 20 this year, and both feel like toys to me. If the Panasonic had a decent encoder, I wouldn't mind jumping it more often, and if the Canon could have the piezos glued for stabilization, that would be great.
  25. In this case, Norman Kent shot this footage when he was working on another film, and had unused footage. This footage is *very* old. Deanna is part of this library. Anyway, yes, a model release is required by the photographer and stock footage agency before they'll take the content. This was all shot on 35mm, btw, not tape.
