So the plan is...send up the 206 with a load at 8.00 a.m., send the connecting Casa at 9:30, and send the Otter at 9:40 for a 9:50 jump? Poor guys in the 206.

Great post, Jarno...branding. That's wha it's all about. Birdman has a great brand name and terrific logo that can be put anywhere on anything that anyone outside or inside of skydiving can relate to, which I believe, opened the door for them to create this clothing line. IMO, it's terrific that they've found another revenue stream to tap, it's not so terrific that customer service has plummetted as a result. That being said, hats off to Jussi in particular for personally taking care of my purchases with Birdman, even if it did take over 7 months to resolve. At least it did resolve, and that's saying quite a bit in today's world. If the dollar climbs back to reasonable, if Birdman comes out with anything that remotely competes with what TonySuits are doing, I'll likely end up buying another "Birdman" brand suit.

Any other DZ's want copies of all tandem vids?

I format my cards after every jump. But I dump it all to an HDD first. -
please continue one of the other 3 CX7 threads.

We require the MPEGs/AC3 from all delivered DVDs to be kept. Costs us about 400.00 per year (anyone see the 1TB drives have dropped to 200.00?) We've been using 3 500GB drives a year for photos and video. Easy to archive by Month/Day/Student name. If you're an analog DZ...ouch. Twice the work. It's enough to make anyone move to digital, IMO. BTW, using this method, you can add revenue to your DZ/yourself by offering to put it on YouTube for 10.00 or so... -
on my MBP, I get full playback on the Windows side of Bootcamp, but lousy playback in iMovie. If you read the various video communities out there, this is common. If Apple would directly support the MTS format, it would be so much easier rather than the convert on ingest. If you have bootcamp, PM me and I'll prolly be able to help you out.

You can't pick this up at just any hardware store? Even the flat allen heads can be found fairly easily here in the states, dunno about where you are. No camera shoppes in the area? Wanna post a pic of your plate? I have a box full of different camera screw types

I'm almost certain it's next to the hinge spring... That's where it is on a lot of these. Some also have it on the sensor arm that tells the camera if there is tape inserted, and if the tape is blocked against being recorded.

I'd submit it's growing pains... The thumbnail is a Windows thing; AVCHD isn't supported directly in the WMP, so it can't read the header to give you the thumbnail. M$oft hates AVCHD; they want the world to embrace VC1. As far as the focus wheel, this is the first I've heard that particular complaint. I don't have a CX12 close by anymore, but have another coming soon. Lemme see if there is a model-problem (I didn't have this issue in my few test jumps).

I think I enjoyed that post more than any other you've made... Thanks for taking the time.

A very powerful version of ACID can be found free HERE **DISCLAIMER** my company authors loops for ACID, and I personally have developed 6-8 libraries of ACID sounds that are offered through Sony... My company also published a book on using ACID. -
Ironic...I heard a guy say this exact thing yesterday, when he was assembling his first camera helmet and I'd asked him about jump #'s. He has 162....He was only interested in seeing how it felt and what he might capture, but the camera was "just on my head, I'm not worrying about where I look." Well, on jump 163, he was following his friend, who was on a perfect course for a nasty downwinder. Both of them turned 180's at around 150', one of them pulled it off, but the guy with the camera didn't. He landed on his knees (wearing shorts) in gravel/dirt, had enough momentum to fly back up after hitting/bouncing, and landed flat on his back. We thought for sure we were gonna be calling a lil red truck with flashy lites. His camera got dirt in it, rig is filthy/filled with dirt, he's got bloody legs and probably a sprained ankle. But he wasn't going to be looking anywhere for the camera either. I've come to the conclusion that most of us started wearing a camera way too early, and learned a lot of things along the way that cause us to look back and wonder how we got out of it OK. IMO, wearing a camera is the most dangerous thing you'll ever do in skydiving, as it alters your mental, physical, and emotional self during the jump. Be careful out there, get some coaching from someone who has been flying a camera for a while.

Thanks for putting that together, guys. Wish I'd have been there to help. That triple burble is priceless!

Actually, she had exactly zero line twists on opening.

Just because Beth isn't coming doesn't mean we have to leave the list all disorganized. Hey I just noticed, I'm at the bottom of this list. I'm sure there are more people coming that this short list anyway. Last count I had was over 200. Where is everyone? maybe others are having the same motel-hell that I have had...at this point, I have a room for thurs/Fri nights, nothnig for Sat that is less than 450 a night, Super 8 claims there is no skydiver/L4L rate...and while they're going to call if they have a cancelation, I'm not holding my breath.

Your waiver doesn't mean squat, other than implicating you further (because you're demonstrating that you know the practice is illegal). Kinda like a driver making robbers sign a waiver that if they're caught, he's not responsible because all he did was provide the car. Tandem videos are a commercial enterprise. There is NO WAY to legally use copyrighted works whether your hands touch it or not, if your dropzone delivers a finished DVD, even if the student does "do the sync." The days of being able to arbitrarily use copyrighted works are in their sunset, and only fools don't realize it. Uhh...no....everyone DOESN'T agree this is legal. Warner has allowed some specific personal uses, but a skydiving operation isn't part of that license. -
That kinda.....scares me....

hey guys...fun discussion, but let's keep the discussion to skydiving vids, how you're managing the copyright issue (or not) etc. -
Why not? Yeah...why not?

Hey...don't knock it. Some of us older guys have saggy asses. If the jeans provide lift, I KNOW they'll make my ass look good. I was offered a free pair of Birdman jeans; I opted for a pair of Pantz instead. Can't wear em' to the mall, but they make my ass look better.

Mike Curb is a legend in the industry, having scored porn, written for the Osmonds, and starting Curb Records/Entertainment. I've had the pleasure of sitting on a couple panels with him, and was stunned when he told me he'd done a 'a couple of jumps back in the day.' I was a producer with Curb back in the 80's, producing glam-rock content. Curb is of the same mind about event music; it must be paid for, because it's music someone else paid for/invested in, and it makes our videos "look" better. -
