Throwing the shoe at Bush is an insult to Americans. I believe that was the intended message, and as such, Bush was representing the Americans. IMO, it wasn't funny, but entirely appropriate. Americans are hated the world over, and it's tough to be in a position of justifying the actions of our current/outbound administration when traveling the world. For those that think Bush understood the significance of a shoe being tossed his way; I'm certain he didn't. If he gets it at all, it's because someone more intelligent explained to him. "Throwing a shoe is violent?" My poor cat. I hope the ASPCA doesn't find out.

ESPN already showed their bit (the weekend of the event) Fox has shown footage during and one afternoon following the event, many news outlets requested footage, EXPN repeatedly showed a short 30 sec clip of three skydives as part of a daily loop piece in a news segment, BELO Group aired it over quite a few stations. There have been several international requests and they were fulfilled using downloadable media. What of those requests ended up in actual airtime, I have no way of knowing. Like someone else mentioned regarding the pix; if even 10 seconds was given to each of the pix, it'll take about 3 months straight to see them all. Maybe someone here would like to sponsor a person to go through and look at every image, and then take the roughly 5-10 minutes it takes to insert and resize to the grid? Right back atcha....show me the money...

No one can test for this. Apparently you still don't understand. The ad could be tested, it would show clean. The people serving up the ad can test, it can show clean. The source of the ad can change it at any time. FYI, this is going on ALL over the web. If you like having unprotected sex, then have at it. Browsing the web without protection isn't much different. I get the same stuff you get by being on this site, but I also know how to protect myself (and didn't spend a dime in the process). It would seem a lack of knowledge is your defense at either side of the discussion. DZ.com can test, but won't necessarily (and likely won't) find the problem. ALL subscribing sites to an ad vendor have to have a level of trust in their partners. *You* can run any number of software tools (most of which are free) to protect yourself from these sorts of hassles. No one to blame here for the instance except for the creeps that inserted the code, least of all DZ.com. The entire INTERNET used to be safe to use. Things change. Change with them or deal with the consequences.

nothing that I'm satisfied with, but I'm a snob. There is a reason that virtually everyone in skydiving (or other high-motion/activity sport) recommends Sony. Cuz it works, and delivers a good image.
-
Other than difficulty to mount, and my personal prejudice against Sanyo's non-standardized AVC (not AVCHD) codec which means you *may* have some editing issues, it's a decent little camera at 14Mbps. Haven't skydived with it, but have worked with it a bit on a tradeshow floor.

then go over to apple's forums and read all the "My computer won't recognize my camera" threads. Actually you'll see em' on the Adobe forums, because Apple won't let threads live if they speak badly of apple products. I'm convinced it's NOT the computer. I've written several articles on this subject, BTW. You can Google my name + 1394 and get a few hits. Both platforms have similar issues if the user isn't familiar. Anyway...is network bridging turned on? Have you assured that DownConvert over 1394 is enabled in your camera? Camera in Play/Edit mode? Watched a really capable guy struggle with this setting only a couple days ago, computer wouldn't see his cam. 4 pin? 6pin?

got permission to share a little bit. HXR-MC1 camcorder. It's a fun little POV device. Limited in use for skydiving until a breakaway can be inserted in the line. Lotsa connections, quite a bit of soldering. You'll like it more in HD...

Fire and Ice Wingsuit Boogie in Sebastian.
DSE replied to skittles_of_SDC's topic in Wing Suit Flying
is there a list anywhere of who all is attending this event? -
You likely have the downconvert feature enabled in your HC5...
-
OOUUCCCHHHH! and yeah, I got it straightened out.. Scott one day...I'll be able to shoot/fly like you do Until then, I can only tweak ya.
-
I think you told that to me also while in Eloy so I gave it a shot and it did not give me the shot yeah well...helps if the camera mount has some talent behind it. Seriously, did you get your lens straightened out?
-
if it's the Canon, I'd autofocus for a while. Autofocus on that lens is fast. Very fast.
-
Dang! Here comes another guy who can take great shots

Your description is perfectly correct as to how the industry and most people relate to "fisheye", but the technical description, but aspherical/rectilineal or not...anything that is more than 100 degrees FOV is technically a fish eye whether it's hemispherical or aspherical. But nobody really categorizes them that way, at least not in the production world.
-
not just lighter, better.
-
True, you get bend at 24mm, but it doesn't fit the generally-accepted definition that anything below 16mm is a "fish-eye" lens in a 35mm film/imager world. But...anything that distorts the peripheriy and expands foreground from the center is technically a fisheye. But that's not how the industry generally defines the term. By that definition, anything with more than 100 degrees of expansion is a "fish-eye." Nobody generally considers a 28mm, for example, as a fisheye lens.
-
Now I'm really confused. A Cookie .29 (or any other .30) is more or less a fisheye... and no different than a 15mm on a small-sensor still cam. In other words, if you're shooting a .3 on your video cam, and a 15mm on a Rebel, they'll be fairly close, albeit not perfect.
-
For wingsuiting, I have a 24mm 2.8 that I really like. but on an APSC sensor, it's too narrow. [edit] On an APSC camera, 15mm isn't a fisheye. On a full-frame camera, it is.

193 jumps + 270=Where was the DZO or S&TA? Yeah?
-
Sounds like he got the break you think he deserves.
-
Big fan of the Canon 15mm, it's significantly faster than the Sigma, and although the Sigma is a good lens (I have both) the Canon is (IMO) worth the slightly higher cost. Sharper edges, flatter center, faster focus.
-
I saw Stoney kill a wingsuit once.
-
Just called B&H for something else, and asked em' to check stock on this lens while I was on the phone...they said they have em' both black and silver.

I don't know if I'd classify it as "interesting" as much as I'd suggest "hype." Pogue knows (as do most geeks) that cheapo DVDs (and CDs) don't last long. Quality stuff does. Backing up to DAT and HDD are best ideas for critical media, IMO. Same goes for a storing on a couple of on-line backup systems. Fairly cheep, if your files aren't huge. We back important stuff to Bluray data disc, and a second backup to HDD. Expensive...but worth it.
