AFAIK, same with all the cams. I've got my Canon next to me, can't read off that card either, but no problem using the USB port.
-
I wanted to play too... Scotty Burns took the shot, but for whatever reason, I accidentally cropped the watermark. Sorry Scotty!

unfortunately, you're stuck (for now). It's one of those "Apple-isms." A databank won't work either.

Not to mention the many hours, tests involved in the design of a wingsuit. Jumpsuit needs arms, legs, hole for neck, and a zipper or two. A wingsuit needs as much (if not more) design work as a canopy. Inlets, airlocks, vents, cable attachment points, zippers....

Is it possible to import premiere pro files (m2t) into final cut?
DSE replied to Mikki_ZH's topic in Photography and Video
Final Cut won't accept either extension. It wants to see the codec converted. This takes time, although it is significantly faster than real time. Once you've converted these files, they will no longer be readable in Premiere. You're MUCH better off just buying Premiere for Mac for the amount of time you'll likely save. FCE is fairly finicky about what codecs it will and won't accept. -
it doesn't work well. My company has been a consultant to DynaPel (the company that Apple bought this technology from) for nearly a decade. MotionPerfect is good stuff for normal handheld shake, but it can't manage what skydivers throw at it and the image quality takes a serious hit. Very soft, and the motion blur is unbearable (IMO). Additionally, when working with HD in particular....slow doesn't begin to describe the render times of remapped frames with interpolation and prediction. All that said...it DOES work the way it's supposed to. But people aren't supposed to be shooting video while flying through the air, either.

Phree, what cards are you using?

USPA Membership Dues& Rating Fees going up?
DSE replied to chriswelker's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
rooms are more like 750.00 per day plus catering (and catering is required) at say....10 urns of coffee per, 70.00 per urn... Planning/producing meetings adds up. BTW, the AAA rate for the Silver Legacy was only 55.00 a night. Same rooms, half the cost. -
Editing question concerning hard drive cams
DSE replied to chuckakers's topic in Photography and Video
All Sony HDD cams now accept MSPD cards. Not all other HDD-based cams accept flash-media cards. Not all cams lock the HDD, either. IMO, avoid an HDD-based camera. All PC software now supports AVCHD directly off the card, but due to speed issues, you're better of Xferring the data to an HDD folder first. No Apple software allows for direct editing from the card. Avg jump takes less than one minute to Xfer. It's also easy to automate much of the tandem workflow, depending on the software you choose. -
Carefully re-read my response to the poster above who says " thought you required to initiate hook turns at 50' at Lodi... and then says it wouldn't be a "problem for me, of course." Does anyone believe they can pull off a 360 initiated at 50'? I understood the CNN graphic for what it was.
-
so you feel you can do a 360 hook turn initiated at 50' without incident?

the lens is more like a .175 than a .3. Focal length is approximately 8mm as measured on a 35mm scale.

Nice post. I can't say anything but high praises for L&B; their customer service earned my biz a long time ago. I do wish they'd release a new JumpTrack though, one that was wingsuit and GPS friendly. Mads is an amazing guy, you'll see him in a live interview from PIA in a couple weeks. Super company, super people. Altitrack on my mudflap, my wrist, and an Optima in my ear wired to my HypEye for a visual indicator as well as the audible.

I use Lightroom, but it's a PITA for anything but critical photos. I feel the same way about Aperture, too, however.

they'll need Photoshop 7 or newer, and the latest RAW viewer from Canon.

Flying a homemade wingsuit in 1981... Google Translation of the Italian text: "Video of my cousin John Charter sopranominato "birdman" one of the pioneers of base jumping and parachuting in america, is little known but has done amazing business, with a natural predisposition for the sport in addition to a high degree of precision and safety in flight, is a Italian and was born in Alghero, for various reasons, it is found to live in newyork the age of 12 years while only a few years later and adapting well to life in this metropolis, has served America in the war in vietnam as a helicopter pilot in the rescue of survivors, after his leave, he puts together a construction company where he grappled with the experience of emptiness, then decides to try new sensations dedicating launch by parachute in the manner most fantastic and adventurous, it is the first to land with the parachute at the top of the twin towers (World Trade Center) on 10-September-1981 (talk about it with interest the newspapers) esatamante 20 years before the terrorist, was the first to launch from the tower of Pisa through a parachute from him amended to have a quick and landed without problems, then has made numerous high enterprises which in part can see in the video was one of the first researchers and inventors of the wing flight suit, he is building from the wings if you like to those of a bird and then experience the results (you can see in the video), the story is long but you really remember, passed away in 1990 at the age of 44 years because of a trivial accident, will remain forever in our hearts a Alghero worthy of our admiration, unfortunately, still little known, and I remember when it came to visit me and tried to teach me to speak in English .... do not want to know .... I remember the last time that we have seen, I invited him to listen to the radio to listen to me changed planes, too little time spent with him and too small to dissolve my shyness and ask him to tell more of his unique life."

Here it is I don't know when it'll go up on DZ.com

Hang out with Harry or Avery. Work on charming up your smile. You'll get away with anything, trust me. Nice video work, Matt. I hope it worked out well for you.

I think it entirely depends on the situation you're in. Caravans have a very large door. King Airs do not. King has a high ceiling, a 182 does not. The set up you jump is entirely dependent on the aircraft you jump (predominantly) coupled with your height, your typical method of moving around, or what you're doing. My FTP has a cage that I'm grateful for, but it doesn't do much but protect the edges. My Tonfly CC1 covers everything entirely, including the base portion of the various WA lenses. My CC1 sidemount covers nothing. I jumped a camera without a cage for an entire season with only one scuff mark, one accidental shut off. With the cage, not any kind of mark or shut down.

Monkey gave you the only option available. Unless you want to use an IR remote, and you'll still need the mirror... What "proprietary issues?" I keep hearing about "Proprietary Sony issues" in various places (including here). There is nothing proprietary about OIS/EIS, and aside from the AV port shape...everything on a Sony camcorder is as standard as it gets. Canon, on the other hand, does have a proprietary header file and 24p mechanism.
-
mounting is no sweat. Chris W/Parachutist mounted one to a mudflap for a project we did. It is a standard threaded mount. Breakaway cable...that's another issue entirely. There are a lot of connections, so it'll take some time and a well-appointed connector. Haven't tried to cut this yet, not once I'd opened up the camera/deck to see what was involved.
-
I dunno...some duct tape (or gaffer tape if you're really stylin') and a pair of black Gatorz...you'd have the ultimate in cool freefly gear. Put a paper asshole on those Gatorz, you'd have stereovision AND a cool look.

it isn't so much a "jagged" edge, but an artifact across the contrasted horizontals in the frame, I'm not where I can access the footage (in canada w/limited resources). It's similar to a rolling shutter strobe, but not the same as a high speed CMOS rolling shutter artifact (although this camera will generate rolling shutter at speeds of higher than 1/250) Exceeding dynamic range and high resolution couple to create this effect, but from chatter with a friend on the QT team, it is all a problem related to the decode and the header information in the file. Canon is addressing the header information and is releasing an update to the camera, and now Apple has released a decoder that manages the dynamic range limitations properly (blacks are now superblack).

The explanation for progressive content in an interlaced package goes beyond what I'm up for typing. Buy my book, "the full hd" if you wanna know more.
