Only if the videographer makes him/herself a distraction. Outside video is very common on first jump AFF. Which is worse for a student? The potential distraction of a videographer in the wrong place, or the potential PCIT/entanglement with an instructors helmet? How's this for a scenario....(based on above image...) Instructor causes student to go below hard deck because instructor doesn't want to break off camera so that the student main can deploy. Student freaks out and deploys reserve (or AAD fires) which then completes the pull for the main. An entanglement may ensue, and at the least a first jump student has a two-out due to an instructor's error. Several scenarios, but that's a pretty bad one, isn't it?

Photos/scans of private citizens found all over the internet, near-fatal beatings of some who have teased others over their small 'members', belongings stolen by government agents, loss of dignity for any number of persons by having their diapers (young and old) examined and sexual parts groped is hardly "nothing." This country was founded on the concept of liberty and while your definition and my definition of "liberty" might be different; I'm pretty confident the Founding Fathers never considered the groping of testicles and breasts as being a liberty of the State. Privatizing airports may well help restore at least *some* dignity, but I honestly think we're too far into the government-funded rabbit hole to back out. Government wins, airport wins, the only loser is the traveller.

The toss isn't the video, perhaps Greyghost has seen the full sequence? As Freeflaw suggested, I think we'll see more of this. Seeing quite a few problems with low-time people in big suits, and several of them don't have proper bridles, PC's. I've collected a dozen videos of near-"PC in tow" due to burbles of big suits and/or crap tosses with short bridles, small PC's, etc. Got a great one a couple weeks ago with a guy in an Sbird, short bridle and 26" PC; Line twists up the wazoo due to the head-down he went into while waiting for the PC to clear.

Deseret News article that went out. Handbills around the area now as well.

I hear you have a tongue like GeneSimmons; why do you need a switch?

Paralog allows for compensation for wind, allowing users to input wind direction/speed. "No database rows found for this query, sorry!" When you download data from the Flysight, Paralog allows you to set wind data. May or may not be accurate, but it does allow users to specify wind direction/speed. Given the exemplary scores that came from Gransee, it's probably a fair bet to say winds were in everyone's favor, but that the winds were likely not accounted for when downloading the jumps.

He *is* wearing a helmet, wrist, and foot mount on that jump.

Step 1; build your custom templates with the template creator Step 2: Set PA2 to detect when a card is inserted, and copy media. Step 3: trim any files that need trimming (if you shoot with this in mind, nothing needs to be trimmed. Step 4: Process (this renders for DVD burn. You watched the tutorials on the Sony site and didn't see the automation features?

Care to jump with this? The Century system is more practical, but doesn't everyone want a bigger iCock?
-
PA 1.0 or 2.0? 2.0 is automated. 1.0 is not, unless you use the clunky Macro.

not overkill. Lotsa memory tho, in case you have a failure.

reading the Small Format Camera "Incident" list thread

Dude....once I left the plane with the chin cup very loose on the ladders. Didn't realize til I had exited after the group. Still kept em' all in frame, and latched it down tight (although crooked). But...my DZO was pretty adamant about cameras, jump numbers, etc. And I still sucked. -

yes, true, of course. but... how does one know they can't remain stable while fiddling with one until they need to fiddle with it? And... honest!!! I'm just gonna turn it on and let it run while I fly. I won't pay attention to it, nuthin'. It's so small, it can't affect me. Even the SIM says "cameras can hurt your neck" and I wanna shoot video of my ALicense grad jump with my buddy who will have his A next week if he can cram in 10 more jumps. And dude! My AFF instructor, he said I'd probably be alright, I'm the best student he's ever had. Who are you to question it? Plus my AFF, I have 5 S/L jumps from 1977, and my brother flew a ruck in the Army, and my next door neighbor has a parachute to cover his Porsche with. I been around, man! -
This occurred to another WS guy a few months back. His bridle was 12' long! But...yours is significantly further down. Any chance you got video of your deployment?

Help with importing audio tracks on Sony Movie Studio
DSE replied to chuckakers's topic in Photography and Video
There are generally two reasons why an MPEG decoder in Vegas, Canopus, or Adobe Premiere Elements fail: ~bootleg copies (the MPEG decoder isn't part of the package) ~Failure to install either the authorized codec pack (which comes with DVD Architect or DVDCreate) Installing third-party codec packs should never be necessary for any of the above mentioned NLE systems. If you have Vegas Movie Studio 9, then an upgrade (free) is required to update to VMS9a, which has the proper decoder for MPEG audio. -
The other side to that, Ken, is that "in this time of turmoil" (which I think is more fantasy than fact) it may be that the container manufacturers are dragging their feet. Alti/Mars can't compel the manufacturers to go any faster(if indeed, that's the cause of what is delaying the M2). I too, am excited to know the M2 was coming, but couldn't wait any longer, so I bought Vigil's for my student rigs. After conversations at PIA, I'm confident that the people at Alti/Mars are doing their best to bring this product to market, even if it doesn't meet the immediate demands of some of their potential customers.

Help with importing audio tracks on Sony Movie Studio
DSE replied to chuckakers's topic in Photography and Video
Although it's a PITA, I'd recommend uninstalling both, reinstalling; VMS then DVD Architect. BTW, if you've downloaded any codec packages such as KLite or similar, this can take over the NLE's ability to properly decode MPEG streams... Be careful about downloading video codecs/video tools when dealing with standard NLE software... -
The Hurt Report is still somewhat of a standard. The glaring points are: ~young motorcyclists are by far more likely to be injured. ~Street bikes have a significantly lower risk (due in great part to the personalities that ride them) ~Crotch rockets have a significantly higher ratio of incident (again, due to age and the personalities that ride them) ~Alcohol plays a factor in +50% of motorcycle accidents. 60% of accidents havent been wearing helmets, and of that number, 53% didn't expect an accident. Other data: Sport bikes made up less than 10 percent of registered motorcycles in 2005 but accounted for over 25 percent of rider deaths according to The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Short answer: young and wreckless, old and drunk make up (by far) most of the statistics. Common sense suggests the same. there's a lot more there...but those are salient points.

It may be they haven't gotten container manufacturers to sign off on it yet (approved use).

when you reinstalled, did you re-register? Also, did you install DVD Architect AFTER VMS? Architect carries the MPEG decoder you need, so it needs to come after VMS install. -

what is the source of the clips that import without sound? If they're copy-protected files, for example, they'll import image, no audio. Where did the clips with no sound come from? -
When we would book lecture halls to do on-campus presentations for my university's skydiving club these two topics were usually what we'd talk about. They're both informative and accessible. This is what I choose, too. I have a short 2.5 min reel of various disciplines, it's good for showing the concepts. Carrying a rig/Alti is pretty simple, and can be repacked any time.
