  1. Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And for all of you selfish cremation types, who want your ashes cast upon the waters -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a true story. It happened to a friend of mine. He lived in Colorado. His mother died, and was cremated. The family owned property and a cabin at a place called Pearl lakes in the San Juan Mountains. He, two of his brothers, all who had pilots liscences, and a nephew, decided to fly over the lakes and cast out the mother's ashes. As they banked the plane[ some assumption, here] and dumped the ashes out, they blew back into the cockpit, blinding the brother who was flying the plane. They crashed into the mountains, killing all four on board. They did find the ashes inside of the cockpit. I heard that the mother had a fear of water. Only kidding.
  2. Sorry. If they actually believed and accepted Jesus as a prophet, they would have obeyed and followed him.
  3. I guess we're not sheeple, after all.
  4. How very selfish of you not to keep that ticker in the best possible condition for that potential donee.[Is it a word?] My sister is a funeral director. Those who make you look better than life are highly paid artists. Not a job I would want. I don't actually have a problem with organ donation and the argument isn't about me. It's about the govt. considering you to be their property to do with as they see fit. The decision needs to be mine, not theirs. Let's remember to take all of the good parts and recycle them.
  5. Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone should be seen as a potential organ donor on their death unless they expressly request not to be, England's chief medical officer says. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am in total agreement with you . The default position is that no one gets anything without my permission. The other position is just more of the slippery slope of socialism where you are not your own person. Ever. For those who think that it's OK to steal my parts, let's take this position to its final and ridiculous end. Where does it stop? First, it's the usable organs. After all, they're inside the body and nobody is going to miss them. Least of all, you. So you've requested an open casket funeral. Wait a mintue. They want your nose cartilidge and your ears. But they can replace those with prostetics. They want your skin for grafts for burn victims. Forget the open casket. Oh well, now that no one can view you, they may as well burn you up, or better yet,why not part you out completely. Why waste all of those good bones and joints, not to mention that 20 sq.ft. that your coffin would occupy. We are probably going to need that space for apartments for all of the people that we've saved by using parts from the dead. With all of these people crowding the earth, walking around with other peoples' parts, there's not going to be much room left for livestock for meat, and you were so selfish in not remembering the care of your yapping little chihuahua. I doubt if he will know that it's you in the can. And for all of you selfish cremation types, who want your ashes cast upon the waters or taken on an ash dive, stop polluting the environment. I don't want to have to drink or snort your dirty ass. Maybe you could give your ashes to the govt. to help pave roads. Oh, wait. The Germans have already done that.
  6. Oh yea, and remember that they were Christian missionaries with nothing but Bibles in their hands. I guess they got what they deserved.

    Good or Nasty?

I guess it depends on the occasion. Peanut butter tastes good, but peanut butter breath stinks.
  8. As REMHWA said, ' This is the abortion debate turned on its head.' Isn't it strange that a woman can use the,'It's my body' argument to destroy a potential life, but I am supposed to feel guilty when I use the same argument not to save an existing life, many, of whom, probably have not lived a life worthy of continuance. I also find it quite ironic that guilt seems to be a very handy tool used by those who believe that moral law should be destroyed.
  9. Go forth and multiply. A gift must be given, not developed. OOPS!
  10. "How many attacks on us by those in the Muslim community haven't invoked the name of Allah in the process?" I don't know if this analogy will actually work but here goes. We have laws concerning the truancy of children. They are required to go to school. Many of these children have parents who either have a negative or indifferent attitude about getting an education, and know that the children are skipping school. Once the law gets involved and either threatens the parents with a fine or jail time, the problem seems to solve itself. If, in deed, the radical bad boys are a minority, then threatening the majority with serious punishment, if they don't rein in the bad boys, should work, unless they are complicate.
  11. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So why have funerals, wakes or memorial services? There's bound to be a dumpster around the corner. I'm with Scoop on respecting the dead. I dare say that there is something wrong with someone who doesn't tread lightly in Arlington Cemetery, or a Civil War battlefield. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for donating, I plan on being so worn out that it will be no good to anyone, except for the curiosity of how I lasted that long. I believe that the thread did take a turn so I put in my two cents worth. Are you saying that if there were an ancient Indian burial ground, or a graveyard a couple of centuries old on your property, that you wouldn't show it deference? I'm not saying that you would, but claiming that giving your parts away is the ultimate in unselfishness, while taking the diamond off of your dead grandmother's finger because, after all, she's dead and she won't miss it are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
  12. Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can't separate their reiligion and their politicss. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you saying that AQ[common soldier] has two different compartments in his mind, separating religion from politics? These people come from any number of countries, so they are obviously not there to defend their particular country. Islam is the only thing that ties them together.
  13. I did TM back in the mid 70's when it was all the rage, and then studied self hypnosis, which is exactly what TM was, you just didn't give your money to some long haired Indian in a white robe. With practice, you can go into a deep trance in a minute or two. In about 20 minutes you will simply come out of it. No, it is not a nap.
  14. I find it disrespectful to the dead.
  15. How many attacks on us by those in the Muslim community haven't invoked the name of Allah in the process? You can't separate their reiligion and their politicss. We've spanked other despots into submission using a heavy hand.
  16. I decided to take another bite: If she's smart enough to get into medical school , she's probably smart enough to know that smoking a fattie and contemplating the deep things of life[Oh, wait, there can't be such a thing] just turns you into a wasted dumbass. You might want to smoke a fattie and contemplate the ugliness of a nonexistant emotion called contempt. Or maybe you are just big on yourself 'dropdgorgeous'?
  17. Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ... and convert the world to islam by the sword. . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Only problem is that it's 5 centuries later.
  18. In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll bet that if we made a blanket policy that if terrorists came from any given country, and caused us harm, that we would deal with that country with a heavy hand, swiftly, they would start dealing with the punks, themselves. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quite a bit of hate mongering. Yeah - let's go and bomb all muslims. I'm sure that the govt. or the people would deal with such a situation on their own, unlike the Muslim community, which, in large, has sat on their hands. After all, the KKK is kept in a pretty small box these days by the attitude of the rest of the nation. Agreed? Cheers, T
  19. Cycling helmets are worth their weight. My head recently bounced off the deck at 20 mph. The helmet sustained a few scratches and there was no damage to what brain I have. The helmets are extremely light weight and not bulky. I don't know why the same couldn't be done for skydiving helmets.
  20. No, it's a sign that too many people thought that they were cute little animals and didn't want to kill them.
  21. Isn't Parliamentary procedure fairly cut and dried? I think that it really shows the mental immaturity of the Democrat party.
  22. What about the economic effect of 9/11. I would imagine that bridge in Minnesota will cost far more economically than just to cost of replacing it. Imagine if the enemy could take out the stock market or major highways into the big cities. I'll bet that if we made a blanket policy that if terrorists came from any given country, and caused us harm, that we would deal with that country with a heavy hand, swiftly, they would start dealing with the punks, themselves.
  23. Isn't the argument that we should go after them where they are at? Obama wants to go into Pakistan. If a group of people here in the States decided to form a terrorist organization, but proclaimed their santuary Holy Ground, do you think that would stop the govt. from destroying it, or would that decision depend on whether or not there were 3 million people waiting in the wings to join them?
