  1. A little self righteousness welling up inside?
  2. Remember, it takes a village. They just don't want them to live in one house.
  3. but unless someone puts it into practise -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These days, not so much!
  4. Are you saying that my statement is untrue?
  5. You can teach any disipline all day, every day, but unless someone puts it into practise, it's a waste of time, money and energy. I'm sure that you could find statistics proving that telling someone to use a condom doesn't prevent pregnancy.
  6. They would just be trading one rape squad for one currently on the ground.
  7. That's a perfectly valid question (and we all like to complain... both sides of the house!!!). So you would reject one of the best alliances ever formed? What reason would we ever have to have your back if you wouldn't watch ours?
  8. Herein lies the problem with true socialism. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone would give their all everyday for the common good. The problem is someone just thinks that he's too good to dig a ditch,or do any kind of common labor, and creates for himself a job of telling others to dig the ditch. In the process, he believes himself to be elevated above the common man, and therefore, deserves a few more eggs or a nicer cut of meat. Sort of like someone who serves one or two terms in Congress, and afterwards, draws a huge retirement. I've said that the concept of anarchy is a misnomer.Someone always wants to be the big cheese.
  9. What problems do you find with the Ten commandments, or this one, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What man or group of men, being prone to anger and impatience, as we all are, would make a law that comdemns him for an expletive? I wouldn't, would you?
  10. A paperback called,'Candy.' It seemed to make the curcuit.
  11. Let's play,'You are the Prime Minister.' Tell us what you would do, or are you like the Dems? All complaints and no solutions.
  12. Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Who amongst us is nuetral enough to make a law that doesn't lean in the favor of one group or another? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What problems do you find with the Ten commandments, or this one, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."?
  13. I would argue that believing that you were created by God and you have been given specific gifts, talents and drives that you will rise to your place in life. Some people run a small business, and work a 10 hr. day, and are happy. Others have the drive to run a large company. Socialist thinking takes the fruits of a man's efforts away from him and gives it to someone else who has not earned it. How does that fit in with the laws of natural selection?
  14. But we've been told by some on here that they don't need any outside instruction in doing the right thing because it's built into their very being. Are you saying that mankind does need an overriding source of law to understand right from wrong? If so, who would be the one to establish this set of laws that would apply to every person? Surely not a group of men. One man who is lazy, sees no problem with helping himself to another man's wealth. Some horndog doesn't see a problem with screwing your wife because it satisfies his immediate need. Who amongst us is nuetral enough to make a law that doesn't lean in the favor of one group or another?
  15. Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- interesting. thanks i appreciate it, i guess i can stop racking my brain about it now. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You could always take it apart just to see what makes it tick. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why the ""? You're the man!
  16. as atheism is but an inverted religion -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- although very true, that'll get under the skin of a handful of the zealous atheists here -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't think that is accurate. I am not aware of any atheists organizations whos goal is to make the world atheist or to convert people to atheism. As far as I can tell there is not much in common between atheism and religions. QuoteWhy is it, then, that Christianity has to remain underground in countries like China?
  17. I haven't seen any churches using tax money to build sanctuaries. That would be a real conflict between church and state. I do agree with most of your post about sending our tax money elsewhere. What's the difference between money going to Evil Haliburton, which is used for doing various jobs, and money going to some small paving company to pave that last mile of dirt road to someone's house, and a crappy job it was. I know that HIV is your burden, but in general, using that mentality, shouldn't we be throwing tax money at every medical situation? Let's be honest. Most of the tax money spent on projects isn't really about the betterment of the whole. It's about pleasing the constituency in order to stay in power. Maybe we should depend upon private donations to foundations to get the job done, and eliminate govt. intervention as much as possible. You can't say that we are a bunch of cold hearted bastards, because we don't want to pay for someone else's health care, and then bitch about us sending medical relief to a foriegn land. People are people, right? You think that we are the pariah of the world now, imagine how we would be viewed if we shut off all aid. Think of the children!
  18. "His (Karl Marx) philosophy has really stood the test of time, hasn't it? " Are you telling me that Marx' athiesm had no influence on his economic philosophy, or the mechanics involved in achieving his desired end? Communism is based on Marxism and forced Atheism was part of the package. The State is the supreme power.
  19. His godless philosophy produced a nation of joyful, industrious, self reliant people. No? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Christianity and captialism both give a person the hope of better things to come. Godless communism took both of those things away from the people. Why would anyone bust their hump day in and day out, knowing that all that they are going to get for the rest of their life is a two room flat and just enough food to sustain the body? BTW, many a rich man, is a miserable wretch.
  20. I just spent 30 min. in the tunnel. Two 15 min. sessions. I told the first instructor that I wanted to work on Mantis position, center point turns, legs turns, side slides, etc. After veiwing the video, I looked like it was my first time in the air. The instructor ran me through the gambit, but only got into the air with me a couple of times. On the second go around, with a different instructor, we concentrated on the Mantis position, using arm turns, and some nuetral flying exercises. He got into the air with me several times, and was either flying in my face or beside me. Huge difference, and it showed on video. Unless you are some kind of super athlete who sorts things out quickly, I suggest working on one or two items and getting it committed to muscle memory. Trying to do too much at one time is just throwing your money away. IMO.

  22. Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, I guess -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First off, the name is Royd, but you know that, so please. Y and I aren't next to each other on the keyboard. The point being made is that, forcing someone to give up their hard earned money to give to someone else, regardless of the reason, is tantamount to robbery. Instead of tax, why don't we just force EVERYONE to donate 2-300 hr. of free time every year to whatever cause that the govt. deems fit? Same thing. At least, the burden would be more evenly distributed. I wonder who would protest the loudest.

You could always watch the news for the next drive by shooting. One should open up soon enough.
  24. Who was it that said,"Religion is the opiate of the people."? His philosophy has really stood the test of time, hasn't it?
  25. So, let's see, he's gone from trusting God to keep his spirits up, to depending on psychiatrists, psycologists and drugs. Good choice! I wonder if that's going to cost him more than the tithe.
