Dz.com FITNESS Freaks...What's Goin' On In Your World?

Well, by sleeping in I actually meant waking up at 5 apparently. My mind and body were ready for the extra couple hours of sleep, but my cat wasn't. She started whining like the little pest she is at 5 on the dot, and kept whining until I got my tired ass out of bed only to find out she didn't have any food. Drove out in the snowstorm to get her food, almost couldn't get back into the garage, and all she could do was whine that I wasn't feeding her quick enough. It's time we put the little furball down, she's only alive and can only stand up straight because she's on two major drugs. She wakes me up again and I'm kicking her through a wall. Guess I'm not sleeping in until next Sunday. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche -

Sounds fun. As for me, I finished 3500yds at the pool today, busting my usual 2000 out of the water. No pun intended. Then I did 400 flutterkicks this afternoon, then 300 pushups, and finally 25 pullups. Tomorrow's the first day I'm sleeping in for almost two weeks. And by sleeping in I mean that instead of waking up at 5, I'll be waking up at about 7. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche -

I was kind of wondering if he killed any gophers or other furry creatures living under the soil with that earthquake. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

Good luck! I may eventually run those kinds of distances, but until then... you're nuts! LOL Just kidding, you're not nuts, just committed, dedicated, and ready to kick ass. That's respectable. As for me, I did 3500yds of swimming this morning. My legs were screaming as usual by about 1500, but BFD, pain and discomfort won't stop me from becoming a rescue swimmer. I swear, I'll be in the rescue swimmer program yelling at my instructors to "GIVE ME MORE!!" I never thought I could be this crazy. But apparently I was wrong. Been running or swimming every morning this week but Tuesday, swam this morning, did my 500yd gear swim in 7 min, 3 sec. Then a bunch of kick development, and 500yd of anaerobic conditioning, hypoxic laps. And they went better this time... far better. Came home from work tonight and did 400 situps in sets of 50, and 200 side crunches in sets of 50. Not too sore in the abs, so I'm going to swim tomorrow despite the soreness in my legs, then come home and do plenty of other ab exercises and as many pushups as I can. Should be shipping out on January 8th, so at least now I have a set goal. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche -
If you're into fitness, as I assume you are from your posts in the fitness threads, you could always spend a few hundred and get your personal trainer certificate. You can make pretty good money depending on where you teach. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

DZ.com Fitness Updates -First week in December!

Tacked on 400 flutterkicks in sets of 40 last night, and 200 pushups in sets of 50 in addition to swimming 2000 yds. Ran my 3 miles this morning in 23:40, did two sets of 20 jumping lunges per leg, and 5 hill sprints at full throttle. Will update again tomorrow morning as to what I did tonight and tomorrow morning. Swam yesterday morning, then went to MEPS to resolve those lingering medical issues, got it all cleared up, and I'm going to swim again tomorrow morning. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche -
That was pretty funny. I already know I'm going to hell, but doesn't hurt to really solidify my fate. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

Is that anything like a dingleberry? Gotta be. Sounds roughly the same. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

To sartre, you're not going anytime soon, don't get too attached to the white light. Honestly though, it could happen to any one of us next, and many times we simply wouldn't see it coming. Glad you made this thread, because I think I figured out recently what I want. Came up because my mom is finally accepting my choice to enlist in the USCG and become a rescue swimmer, so she asked me what I want done if I die trying to become a rescue swimmer. Hadn't thought about it, but it was a good opportunity. After much debate, I'd like to of course be cremated, ashes put in the simplest lockable box to be found, airdropped onto Coast Guard Beach in Cape Cod either by a jump aircraft or a USCG helo, buried in the wet sand of low tide. None of this formal bullshit, no suits, just sandals, swimsuits and a shovel if necessary. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

"Reasons for everything", that kind of shit, right? By the way, that's why I'm not a Mets fan. I'd rather not lose my cable all the time just because I'm so miserable about the Mets losing. LOL "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

I like that one. I might use that more often. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

A sliding scale could be created based on a poll DZ.com users take where ones coolness or pansy factor is debated upon. However showing ones interest in the results of such a poll would count against the coolness of such at issue. Results however may still be subjective in nature and there will a plus or minus factor of 5 points. You make this sound so complicated and advanced. Clearly you're a pansy. Perhaps but since I care so little I am actually quite cool. OK, but you're still a pansy for even suggesting a sliding scale of cool vs. pansy. Now I'm going to be thinking about everyone I know in that regard. Sadly, most would be at the tail end of the pansy end of that scale. That doesn't sound too surprising. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

Wow, small world, Billy Richards is the man. And that's a great movie. Really well made. As for other movies, The Princess Bride is absolutely hilarious, just saw the first half of that again recently. Seen it already about half a dozen times, and would watch it more often if I could. Oh, and Blood Diamond was amazing. If you haven't seen it yet, definitely see it. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

You should add a third category for "not quite cool, but not quite a pansy, reasonably neutral." "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
