oh yea, i like the third shot, a stable drouge deployment is essential! I was flying the 182, man that was funny!
-
Nice Nick, yea we call it the J3T !
-
ok, boys tomorow night i post the pics from sundays modified javelin test jump.
-
oh yea, forgot to mention that. its a very precise and well made mod to a javelin container. i think it will be the rig of choice by tandem masters everywhere when you see the pics and video from this sunday. we did some rigging last night and the deployment system seems to work perfectly. should be no problem, but thats why you have 2 right nitro! atleast it worked perfectly out on the deck after a few cocktails!
-
Heard a rumor that javelin will be releasing a new tadem rig this sunday, we are supposed to be invited to the demo jump of the prototype, ill have pics to follow.
-
yea like i said before, i do a 270 and have no problem. i go into it from straight flight usually with no problem, the trick is to add the harness turn. but like poster earlier its all technique. chris
-
i just read that you do a double front approach. guess the harness turn idea wont work there to help. unless you point both feet twards the ground..... right? anyways, im not a big fan of double fronts but we dont want to start a heated debate on that, but anyways if you try gentle 45s and 90s with a little riser and leg turn youll see a nice result. of course try this at altitude a bunch of times until youre comfortable. when youre comfortable give it a try. jump numbers mean nothing to me, its all about being comfortable. ive seen people with a thousand jumps that cant fly for shit but 200 jump wonders flying the shit out of canopies. i dont want to get off topic just wanted to give you some other ideas to try if you feel like you can at your experience level. chris

Hey, im jumping a 99 xf2 and have no problem with riser pressure. infact i think its rather light. im loading it a tast more than 1.9 so my charistics might be different than yours but i think the xf2 has a nice riser pressure. try also putting a little harness turn into it, with the riser, youll notice a nice difference. that also makes it easier. loading it at 1.4 you should get some decent performance out of it by adding a harness turn and that might make it easier for ya, give it a try. as far as the recovery arc goes, an xf2 has a pretty long recovery arc. quite long for a 9 cell. much more than a sabre, pilot or safire. just a totally different machine. you might also want to look into a safire2. my buddy jumps a 169 loaded at about 1.6 and he loves it. it would be great for video cause the thing boils for awhile. has never had a bad opening, but then again i never did on the xf2 either and i also have a removable deployment system on it. but anyways, like you said, put a few more jumps on it and try it out for a bit. you can also see if anyone has a safire2 you can try or demo one from icarus. give the harness turn a try along with riser pressure and that will be a good starting point too. see ya chris

hey, check this out..... this is a total ghetto removable slider evil rigging made for me (nicknitro) it was like the $30 dollar job that came from a base rigger, oh boy. it was a pain in the ass to remove, first you had to collapse it or there was too much pressure on it to pull the cutaways then you had to release one side at a time, see if you can figure it out from the pics. like a wingsuit cutaway. then there was like 5-7 minutes to pack the blasted thing. but it worked and made me want a "real" one! we have it hanging on the wall at the DZ now with "evil rigging removable slider version 1.0" written on it. I hate that thing!
-
yea, the cable stays with the slider, you just wrap your finger around that black..... or in my cast blue...... part and pull. the whole thing is in your hand. but wait you have those cool metal rings, i dont
-
not sure how anyone elses is set up, with joe benettes rig its almost impossible for a corner to come loose. anything is possible but i cant see it happening. with the pull of one "handle" on the slider all 4 corners release and its in your hand by this "handle". its easy if youre not paying attention to hook it up wrong, as ive caught myself a few times. you need to do a good check whey you pack. like you normally should, but i dont see a removable slider making the chance of a mal any greater. just a little time consuming like you mentioned. once you get good at its not bad. i can get it on and ready in a minute, its not that bad. if you have the whole rds deal on its a bit more cause mine winds up behind me so i have to spend a few minutes unwinding it before packing.
-
you attach your slider to your chest strap?
-
i like when you are winding the thing up and the pilot chute wraps around your face, thats always fun! nicknitro is modifying my "crash pants" ie, riding pants to have a pocket for the junk. ive heard of using a tandem pouch, how does this work? you know that way i dont look pregnant, or i have huge tits, although nitro would think thats hot!
-
yea, with just the slider removable, i can take it off and have it down my shirt in half the time it takes to collapse one, pull it down, roll it up and fasten it to your rig/jumpsuit. plus, like you said visability is improved greatly and the canopy flies more efficently. i have the pilot chute and bag come off also so its a pain to do on other jumps since it takes a bit to reel the thing in and stuff it down the shirt. id say it takes about 15 sec. with the pilot chute off the canopy will have a longer recovery arc, but for the normal skydiver taking the just slider off is the way to go, i really dont see any downfalls....... unless you drop it

nice, last time i talked to him.... last fall, he wasnt sure he was going to be able go get them made. we had a machine shop in here in pa that makes stuff for us make them for him but he said the price i quoted him for 200 sets was too expensive. oh well. if he has them ill get them on my next rig. but like you said, i jumped mine for like 200-250 jumps and had absolutly no problems. i take his setup to terminal quite a few times and have done tandem videos with it on, although i didnt like it. i tried to use another rig but didnt happen sometimes. anyways, a removable slider is great. for most people you dont need to use the whole thing but taking off the slider makes a world of difference. so anyways looks like im gonna be needing to make a call also to get some of these metal rings. chris
-
does jeff's use metal rings on the lines or tape with grommets in it like joes? joe cant have the metal rings made anymore. the tape with grommets is ok but the metal rings looks slick. im selling my xfire, its in the classifieds and getting a xaos and will be needing another one for that.
-
joe benette maks a great setup, i have on on my xfire2. email me and ill get you his phone # chris chris@undergroundminers.com
