  1. Hey there, You should probably correct the title to "AFF in Cyprus"... The dropzone in Cyprus is at the British Military Base in Dekhelia. The military uses it during the week and it is open to the public only on Saturday and Sunday from 7 am until 1 pm or something like that because they are sharing the airport with a glider club. The dz is open to the public usually between April and October. This varies though so your best chance is to give them a call. Yes the dz runs under BPA. I have not done my AFF there but I have done some jumps there and I am from Cyprus. Have a good one
  2. I do not jump a high performance canopy and it has saved my life once
  3. Nobody said BEER yet!!! Congrats my friend. Keep it going. My first was a few months back. My profile picture is right after I landed. I believe it says it all.
  4. fish you are so full of it give us some jump tickets and hoodies and goodies that you have now
  5. Thank you Regan for organizing not only the jumps but the parties and the tombola. See you hopefully next time.
  6. That is right. I had an RSL opening after I deployed my main. I don´t know if someone pulled it.
  7. I´ll probably need that ride. I will text you as soon as I know which train we are taking. Thanks mate, merry christmas and see you soon
  8. Last Saturday... Jump 301. Instead of my usual freeflying decided to do an RW jump. Packed at the door my cut-away handle got dislodged and flew away when we reached terminal.(Checked my handles 1 time before boarding the plane and twice before the exit so I know for sure that it got caught somewhere on exit) Safe reserve ride with stand-up landing. Found my main not my handle, free bag and reserve pilot chute though. No worries. I am safe and alive. The rest are material that can be replaced. So it was a cutaway but not really...I did not have a malfunction or pull the handle....
  9. I never had a problem when travelling in the States, even though one time they asked to scan my helmet once more and then they asked to see it which seemed a bit weird to me. In Spain once I was asked to check it as luggage when passing from security. I asked for the manager and after showing the cypres card everything was fine. In Cyprus they asked to scan it again and asked what it was. In Greece and Australia I was told that I was not allowed to bring a parachute on a plane. Being kind I replied that I was allowed and asked for the manager. Both times they made sure the airline was informed that I was carrying a parachute on board and then let me pass. Usually I do not say anything and place the gear bag on the machine. If they ask to see it, in a very kind way I let them know that it is a parachute and tell them that I will open the bag and answer any questions they have. Also I tell them not to pull on anything. The cypres card is always helpful because they sometimes ask about the wires they see on the machine screen. Safe travels and safe landings to everyone
  10. I smell trouble again... and I can´t wait to jump right into it See you soon
  11. Hello, I have made 7 jumps in Cyprus. I am originally from there. The dz is ok but there are some drawbacks: -It does not operate all year. I think that this time of the year it is closed. -When it operates is open to the public only Saturday and Sunday until early in the afternoon (that is because they share the airport with gliders) Other than that I think you just need to contact them to see what is going on, Also I´ll suggest that you check out some dropzones in Spain who are BPA affiliated and have better weather. If you need further info on Cyprus let me know. Marios

  15. Hello everybody, 1 year ago I was starting a forum asking about the nightlife around Empuria. It resulted in some great friendships, trips and jumps with the people I met here and then at the boogie. I am working my way to come to the boogie for 3 days. Eager to see the friends from last year and meet new people who is going, when, for how long...? Blue skies

  17. So my manager asked me to brainstorm with some other colleagues about the name of a new company he will be the managing director. He said to write some nice-sounding, catchy names not necesarrily being relevant to the scope of the company. The company is going to be a consulting company on Logistics Engineering. So between the many others my colleagues said I managed to get on the list the following: Velocity Apex Ring Open Sequence Gravity Strong Alti Precision Sonic Hybrid Navigator Reserve Harness Vector Sigma Tandem Pilatus Otter Caravan Zone Jump Ready Set Pilot Tool Bridle Pin Velcro Launch Base My colleagues really liked some of these names. Do you have any other suggestions? I hope that a company that has no connection with skydiving will have a name from our world.
