  1. That is what every reasonable person understands. You do not have to believe in it. When your kids are growing, there is only small difference between the kid now and 5 minutes later. And there is huge difference after all those 5 minute intervals are combined in two years. Corrected it for you. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  2. The marriage legally provides certain immigration benefits to non-citizens. For example: eligibility for a green card, eligibility for citizenship after three years of being married, some admission waivers, and so on. Therefore enabling polygamy marriages will have appropriate cosequences from this side as well. And, I suspect, at that time a lot of people were telling others how good, important, and beneficial to the nation the ban is. So now we haven't stopped condoning legal sexism yet, and it's about time. Unlike polygamy, gay marriages seems to be not illegal. At least I do not know about any penalties for being in such a marriage if you entered it somehow (like traveling to another country where you can get it). And being in polygamy marriage is illegal, like being in interracial marriage was, in some states. Regarding your "general public" comment, I have no idea why it is ever a concern for general (non-gay) public. I could understand that some people might found gay sex "disgusting". However it should not matter here, as the question is not related to making gay sex legal - it is already legal, even though some people found it disgusting. So far I have never heard any reasonable argument against gay marriage; and all I've ever heard had come from Jesus and the bible (and neither could be considered reasonable arguments). Yes, it does matter - as it is one of important sides of the marriage. Again, marriage is not a government permission to have sex, or to practice polygamy. If five adult persons decide they want to live together "like a family", and have sex with each others, they do not need a permission for that, and there is no law to stop them. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

  4. Because there is a lot of issues (legal, parenting, immigration, etc) with plural marriage, which gay marriage does not have. What you said was used to support the interracial marriage ban (with mentioning the Creator and Jesus, of course). Do you think they should be banned either? After all, if plural marriage can be denied to polygamists without causing such outrage, then why should we allow interracial marriages? I say, you have absolutely no idea what are you talking about. Imagine a "marriage" with 2 men and 2 women. If one woman gets a baby, who are parents/guardians, have parenting rights? If one man wants to get off the marriage, is it divorce, or still the same marriage? If someone wants to join the marriage, how should it happen (everyone agrees, or just one person)? And so on. NONE of those issues have any relationship with gay marriage. Actually you will not find ANY difference in gay marriage outside the bullshit like "moral values", and holy bible. How many people have you seen or heard who said they _need_ polygamy marriage? And yow many people have you seen or heard who said they _need_ gay marriage? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  5. Yes, that's what most Christians say. They, however, could not agree on what exactly was dictated by God (and is The Truth), and what should be interpreted differently. I suspect you too cannot prove that only those few selected passages were dictated by God - even to another Christian from different branch. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  6. Maybe I'm too pessimistic, but absolutely everything you mention raises HUGE red flags. Are you completely sure the child is yours, and you are not part of some scam? Did you mention DNA testing? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  7. Oh, so they mean this is average for conservatives? Then I'm sorry, this number looks actually pretty high then, as most of them seems to be involved with anything else but women. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  8. This is correct. However if you plea "not guilty" and keep silent, you'll be fine as long as you did not mention sex and money together. The important point here is that you must not claim or explain anything, even baseball game (especially if you have no idea whether any baseball games were happening at that time somewhere). A lot of people happened to screw up almost perfect case just by opening their mouth. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  9. This one is really funny. Just SEVEN?!? And this is even AVERAGE? What a shame. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  10. I was always sure that most of those who are strongly against gay marriage are gay themselves. And the real reason they are against it is that they promised their gay partner to marry, and now do not want to. After all, if you are not gay, why should you be against? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  11. That's a pointless arguments. There are already laws against beating and threatening to harm. And this is actually the result of law. During the Prohibition some bar owners were forced as well to sell illegal alcohol as well - because the mob wanted to. Most likely they used beating and threatening - I haven't heard about the mob issuing court orders. This is similar case. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  12. That is very vague. If everyone could afford to eat three times a day, but one person could only afford to eat two times a day, this person will be considered the weakest and most vulnerable. However there is a lot of people in other countries who cannot afford to eat at least once a day! If everyone has a Ferrari, the only person who has Ford Focus is the weakest and most vulnerable as well - among them. If you look from some African or ex-USSR countries, there a NO weak and vulnerable people in U.S. at all. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  13. You probably only consider street hookers (who mostly sell their bodies for illegal drugs, and not for food). Just look on craigslist in "erotic services". It is $200-$1000 per hour. That's A LOT of food. Should someone be "forced" to do hard, boring, low-pay jobs, not seeing their children for weeks? Do you think septic tank cleaners really like their job? That was the main problem with Communism. The idea was great - there is no money; everyone has to work, but you should only do what you would love to do, not being forced to do something you do not want to. Like open your talent, and do your best. And the only problem was that there was not enough people who would love to do septic cleaning. Would anyone open their talent, and work night shifts in Safeway? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  14. And "distribution" does not necessary means a film factory. You might just want to create an adult web site, and that is going to be your first video. Everyone has to start from clean slate, right? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  15. Yep, but if you combine omnipotence with "has its own will", it makes no sense in terms of search. Maybe my cell phone is omnipotent, and just decided to hide that fact from me, as it has its own will. Yes, if you allow them. However if you set the goal clearly at the beginning, there will be no search. None of theists have seen the God personally, and the information they operate with does not provide them with any clues either. They do not have it either if you ask what their clue is based on. They actually confirm it themselves by telling us that there is no way you could see, hear or feel the God until the God wants you to. This means that everything they say could be applied to memejamba as well. Even more, they can't even tell us the God isn't memejamba! Another problem is that they base all their beliefs on the book they believe in as well. This makes no sense from logical standpoint: they claim you need to read the Bible to believe in God. Because the Bible does not tell anything directly, they claim you need to use their "understanding" to read the Bible. At the end you are told you need to believe in the Bible to believe in God, and in this scenario the Bible has no value at all. Again, some believe, some do not. Just look around - how many "Christians" you see around, whose way of life in no way resembles anything Christ teaches in the Bible? How many priests ended up being pedophiles and homosexuals? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  16. This is correct. I know for sure that in Russia if you have AIDS, by law you are eligible to free AIDS treatment and free drugs in any clinic around Russia. Sounds cool, right? Here's the catch: AIDS treatement and drugs are expensive, and there is not enough money in the system to support everyone. So if you live in one of few rich districts like Moscow, you'll be most likely fine - at least 80% of patients receive the treatment. However if you live outside those districts - you are screwed, as less than 5% are receiving that care they are eligible to BY LAW. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  17. That is true if both parties agree that memejamba must be red, hairy and VISIBLE. However if you get non-physical characteristics, like the memejamba is omnipotent, omniscent, loving, caring, sent her son to die for your sins, and if you buy the box with memejamba, you'll be rich and happy after you die. No physical description, and there is nothing to look when you open the box. And there is a good reason to have NO physical description of memejamba. There is no way you can sell an empty box and claim there is chocolate - everyone knows what chocolate is, and your lie will be obvious. However because no one knows what memejamba is, and how it looks like, it makes it really easy to sell the empty boxes and claim there is memejamba in every box, which will make you happy and rich after you die. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  18. The problem with your example is that everyone knows from personal experience that a) crows exist and b) how the crows look like. This makes the statement "find crows" or "find no crows" possible to prove for both parties. Just replace crows in your example with "invisible memejamba", and you'll see that you cannot prove Not-S anymore. How could you prove there is memejamba in this box, or there is no memejamba? You have no idea how memejamba should look like. Which is the case with God. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  19. That's true, but at least getting money might be better than getting nothing at all. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  20. 28 years of experience, to be exactly. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  21. That's what they do in all the countries with SHC I have lived in. You will not get any money worth the lawsuit even in the case of obvious malpractice, or even gross negligence. Sure, the doctor could lose his license (very unlikely though), and could even be prosecuted (even less unlikely), but you won't get anything out of it - except, maybe, moral satisfaction. For example, several years ago a dozen of children was infected by HIV in a Russia hospital during medical procedures. There was a big scandal in news, however no one of them got anything out of it. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  22. Probably in the same way as you could buy a DVD in U.S. for $29.99, and buy the same (non-pirated) DVD in China or Russia for $4. Like "If we charge them 29.99, those cheap b..rds will buy a pirated copy for $2, so this way we at least get something". BTW, someone mentioned drug ads. I just wonder whether anyone watches them, and really asks the doctor about those drugs? This would imply that the patient who just watches TV knows more about drugs than his doctor; in such a case I would definitely switch to another doctor. And if we assume that a doctor knows more about drugs than his patient - why ask the doctor about them? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  23. Like my neighbor bumber sticker says, "if you can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em". Cruel, but very true. It's all about personal responsibility. It looks like some people take more planning, and exercise more care and responsibility when they bring a dog or a cat than when they decide to have children. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  24. I don't think there is any adult who does not know this. Everyone knows that smoking, alcohol and McDonnalds abuse damages your health. Everyone knows you should exercize. The problem is that people do not do what they know they have to, and everyone has a looks-to-be-valid reason not to do it. Ask some smoker friends, does they know that smoking is harmful, and could lead to cancer? Hell, yes! So why do they smoke? You'll get a lot of reasons, the most important of which is that people are lazy, and do not like to change their lifestyle. Same with obesity. Everyone knows what gets you fat: you are getting more energy than your body needs, so the body saves extra. All you need it is to maintain it: either eat less, or spend more. But, again, it requires lifestyle change, and the people do not want to do it. And the question is, how to do it? Establish a Lifestyle Police? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  25. I mentioned something like that before. What really impressed me was that some people were pointing out that other countries did a "better job" by regulating the prices of those new drugs and other medical technologies, which had been developed outside their country. I really wonder what would happen in those countries if U.S. put embargo on drug export to any country which has the drug costs regulation? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
