Another good point. Actually it IS the better solution. Just give all terrorists, illegal immigrants and con artists a special driving license, which would say "terrorist", "illegal immigrant" or "con artists". Would make security much simpler. I wonder why nobody in DHS came with such brilliant idea. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Since it's legal in a lot of countries around the world (where age of consent is 16), the question is, was it in U.S. or in Europe? If in Europe, why it's in this list? If in U.S., why hasn't been prosecuted? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Not long now till we hear "Give me your PAPERS!"

No. The system is not static; you could try something to prevent it, but your actions will affect others, and they'll change theirs. You cannot stop terrorism using only security measures. Have you seen "Butterfly Effect" movie? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -
They do not have to wait for their virgins. It's old age stuff, and GOP should work more on that, utilizing Larry Craig and others' skills. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Yeah, those guys definitely know their job. For example, Osama Bin Laden is celebrating his 51st birthday in 2008. lol, I have four driving licenses from four countries. And three passports. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Pussification of This Country -A Different View
georgerussia replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm mister Real Life. If this is what happens in real life, the kids should know that. They need to know that what they heard on TV (especially from politicans) may not be correct information. They need to know that if someone is a priest, it does not mean he should be trusted, or even not a pedophile. They need to know that if someone promises to love you forever, this is a groundless promise, which should not be taken seriously. In other words, the adult world is full of lies, cheating, backstabbing, and not like Disney cartoons. There is no solution. It is politics. Nowadays they're justified because they were grown up in a single-parent family. Several hundred years ago the same people would be justified because they were affected by an Evil Spirit. In Islamic countries a lot of things could be justified because you were not born in "right" religion (if you agree to convert to Islam). And so on. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -

Tax deduction. Or inheritance money. Or a solution to immigration problems. Or your family/grandfamily/friends approval. Or religious reasons. Whatever. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -
And the "actual work" they are doing is like setting up stupid entrapments in parks. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

666 - Is this the bigest problem in their lives?
georgerussia replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
Cool. Maybe we'll get some of those numbers. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -
I've read somewhere that the most statistically correct rule is around 13 - 8 - 79 in percentage; it's worth notice that the number of people who does not like someone or something no matter what is always larger that the opposite number of people who always like the same things no matter what. BTW, USSR cops were really good (and probably much closer to U.S. police) comparing to current ones in Russia. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Obesity may push U.S. health costs above Europe: study

You already have to allow insurance company to access your medical record to get an individual health insurance - at least in CA. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -
Well, if you're in California, you are probably not in a middle class by having just 200k/year income. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

And we don't have a TV, and will not have it. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Like a gun, such a TV program itself cannot be "right" or "wrong". Like a gun, it could be used for good, or for bad. If the parens allow their children to watch TV 24/7 this means the parents are wrong, not some TV channel. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Want a job? Show me your Health Insuarance Card!
georgerussia replied to Rookie120's topic in Speakers Corner
Maybe. It also happens in some rich parts of Russia now. The rest of Russia, which is poor, do not even have lists - they'd tell you plain and simple that there are no money in the system to treat this disease, and it has been like that for last ten years, so there is nothing we can help you with, so go away. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -

georgerussia replied to Rookie120's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, it is a little better anyway. But the risk to be denied access to free/cheap healthcare system if you get really expensive disease is the same everywhere. For example in the countries with government healthcare they just tell you: "well, you know, we do not have enough money, but we put you in the list, your number is 988, please call us in 6 months". * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -

But if you have PPO insurance, wouldn't you be able to get the service there, pay in cash, and then file a claim yourself? After all, it is just a non-participating provider, and my insurance would pay 50% of the costs. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -

Not in California, hehe :) * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -
Yes, this is correct. According to the polls mentioned on TV, the majority does not support building new power plants "to protect the environment". So if that majority, which supports this position, restricted itself voluntarely in energy consumption, there would be no need for more power plants, and energy consumption (and pollution level, obviously) would drop. The problem here is that very few people would put their money where their mouth is, and agree to lower their standard of living in favor of environment. Next time you see an active environmentalist, ask him to show his electricity bill. I'd prefer nuclear, but coal is fine as well. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
-
And the people are still against building new power plants (especially nuclear ones). I think they should be forced to put their money where their mouth is. If you are environmentalist, who likes to talk about "protecting the environment", and therefore is against new power plants - force them to limit their own energy consumption for something like 2kW max per home. Cannot do it? So don't talk about environment, you're being hypocrite. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

I do look at things on a somewhat grander scale. What I see is kinda scary - the people are actually willing (and trying to convince others!) to give up important rights just in hope to save a few bucks. So how far are you willing to go to help the store to lower the costs of operation to get a lower price? Paying cash, because credit card transactions cost the store 1-3% of the transaction amount? Provide the store your email address and ads preferences, so they could send the ads directly to the customers, saving money on advertising? I start thinking that Bill's assumption was correct, and if a store has a policy that you have to take it in the ass in order to get a much lower price, not only the store would still have the customers - there would probably be a line! My friend worked in Fry's Electronics, and therefore could buy anything there with "only" 10% store margin. Looking through the list of things we've bought I can say the store margin is NEVER less than 15-25% (well, maybe less for Plasma TVs). And for most items cheaper than $100 is around 75-300% - and no, I'm not kidding, the RCA connector which you pay 3.99 for, costs 70 cents with 10% margin. The problem with retailers is not that their margins are low. They are not. The problem is that their operational costs are too high. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
