Why is there no ham in hamburger? Wouldn't hamburger really be Pork sausage? I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.

How true. That was fucking great. There will have to be an updated verion though cause she shit never ends. She keeps digging herself deeper and deeper. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.

I just got the chance to read your short version of your ditch landing. Excellent choice not to turn low. I watched a seasoned jumper to a 90 degree low turn to avoid an irrigation ditch and he ended up with a broken back and will never jump again. I believe but am not positive that our pilots are payed $10.00 per load flying the C-206 and that could be DOE. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.

Jumping after hernia surgery
Lastchance replied to Lastchance's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This reminds me of when I was in basic training and we were at attention in formation. You do not move. Anyone who has been in the service knows what I'm talking about. The recruit next to me had to sneeze but with no way to really restrain it. So he remains ridgid and still at attention and sneezes with his mouth closed. The end result is he is still standing at attention with snot blown down over his lips and hanging off his chin and all over the front of his dress blues. The Training instructor tells my whole Flight to look at this Airman and and says "Now that's discipline." I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands. -
I have to say congrats on getting back without radio assistance and landing it at the DZ. I'm not sure but my guess is that it was not your responsibility to make sure your radio was on but instructors. Congrats, good luck, relax and have fun. Jumping after hernia surgery

Funny you should mention that. I've been holding off sneezes for a full week now with great results. Can actually feel one trying to come on right now. I'm dreading the first time I just forget about it and let it go. It has almost happened a couple of times. Yep, it's going to hurt. It's amazing what you can do with a little self control. Jumping after hernia surgery

I totally forgot to ask when I could return to sky diving and my doc is out of town right now but I will be in contact with him soon. You are right. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be but I'm feeling better every day. I am definatlly following instructions and not overdoing it. I sure won't be taking surgery so lightly from now on. I had no idea what I was in for. Thanks fo the reply. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands. -
Jumping after hernia surgery

My incision is about 4 inches and the pain was quite a bit more than I expected. Today is day 8 and I'm feeling lots better. Still no lifting or any thing but last night I actually slept in my bed and on my side for a few hrs. instead of all night in the recliner. It's damn cold here right now so I doubt there will be any jumping anytime soon so I will have ample time to heal. There is alot to be said for letting things heal up well before returning to active duty. I figure when I do return that I will be doing a hop n pop and hope for a soft opening. It was a hard one that caused this in the first place. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands. -
It certainly seemed so. But I didn't hold that against him cause so have I I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.

I had a guy come in to apply for work and seen picture of me in jumping and told me that he had close to 300 jumps in Calif. Where in Calif. Couldn't remember. Do you have your own rig? Used to. What make and what canopy did you fly. Can't remember. Had to sell my rig. How much? 200 dollars. Wow. You mean you gave your rig away? I didn't hire him I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.

I was 5' 10 and 3/4 " till a few yrs ago. Now I'm 5'10". Damn. I'm shrinking. And thats the truth. And the reason that womens depth perception is so out of whack is that all their lives they've been shown 5" and told it was 8" I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.

Me Playing My Trumpet In Freefall

That was pretty cool. Hmmm. I wonder if I could play my Bass guitar in freefall. Hmmmm. where will I plug in my amp? Maybe we could put together the worlds 1st freefall band. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands. -
Agreed. I wasn't the least bit scared on the 3 tandems that were required to start my AFF. I put my total trust in my instructor. My first 3 AFF jumps on the other hand had me scared out of my wits. Not thinking that I was going to die by any means but completely worried that I was going to screw it up. I wanted to be the perfect student, and natural born skydiver. Wrong. I did pass every jump but I was far from perfect. I still get anxiety going if its my first jump after a monthg or so lay off. Right now I'm recovering from surgery and have not jumped in 3 1/2 mo. and it will be a few more I suppose so I sure my first jump after this will be a exciting one. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.

11 Tandems Holy cow that's alot of money. For that kind of dough you could have already finished AFF and be on your way to your A. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condeming you at all. Just kinda wondering why you would do that many before going ahead with whatever program to get you in the air by yourself. I can understand being bored with it. What did these 11 tandems consist of? I sure understand the not moving around much. I'm a fairly active person, and this has put a damper on everything for awhile. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands. -

Thanks for the info. It solidified what I was already thinking myself. No sense in rushing back in and hurting myself. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands. -
I'm sorry you stopped logging your jumps as they are pretty much gone now for whatever reason but I just wanted to tell you what an old time jumper told me about my log book. Your log book is a record of your time in the sport and a record for license and award purposes and what stuck most was that your log book should be entertaining to those who may read it after you are gone. I try to put pics and tidbits of info in mine all the time. Who was on the load. who was the pilot. Weather. All kinds of things. I have all my wrist bands from boogies taped in there with the dates. Shit, I haven't even gotten through one log book yet but its full of info and memories. Maybe my grandkids will find it an entertaining read. It should all be fun. Isn't that what its all about? P.S. Lindsey, if you are reading this from Alaska, sorry I called you an Old Time Jumper. Hope you make it back to Montana soon. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.

Jumping after hernia surgery

What time frame did the doc give you. Mine told me not to lift over 10 to 15 lbs. for at least a month so I'm figuring at least a couple mo. before I should even consider jumping. I totally forgot to ask him about jumping and he is out of town for the next week. Not that I'll be be jumping between now and then. It just seems to me that the more time the better for the simple fact of where this is located. On opening all your guts subject to the downward force. Sure don't want to go through all this again. So how long in total did you wait. Thanks for the input by the way. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands. -
Jumping after hernia surgery
Lastchance replied to Lastchance's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had a hard opening 3 1/2 months ago that resulted in a Lower Iguinal Hernia. 5 days ago I had surgery for it. I asssumed this was going to be a walk in the park as this is quite a common procedure. Rude awakening for me. More pain in the last few days than I ever imagined. But I am feeling alot better now and back to work. I've never been much for pain killers before. would probably do them for a day or two then throw them in the drawer and never see them again but not this time. They helped alot. Now for my question to all out there that have had this surgery before. Now I'm not looking to jump right back on the horse right away and besides that it is below 0 outside. But How long before you were back in the saddle or even considering it. I know I'll be back to the drop zone this summer but we do some winter jumping around here and I want to know if I should even think about it. I would appreciate input from anybody who has been through this before. Thanks. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
