Well intra alia the NFL doesn't have a federal antitrust exemption so I don't think they have as strong an obligation to stay out of federal politics as baseball does. There are other considerations too but on the strength of the antitrust exemption alone baseball needs to stay out of this. This isn't that complicated, it's just a social/moral obligation. Not to mention the rate of Latino players in the MLB is higher than any other ball sport.
