  1. I'm just used to the RW being lock-stepped, that's all
  2. Yea, like a 30-year trial lawyer debating a high school dropout. We'll see if you are singing that same tune after the debate. Biden is about as exciting as watching paint dry and he doesn't know when to shutup. I think Palin will do just fine against him. They're timed so they will tell him to shutup. If you had a criminal rap facing you and saw your PD coming around the corner, you would want to see a 30-year experienced guy rather than a 2-year experienced person. Yet you think here that 2 years is fine. Kind of tailoring your position for the argument.
  3. and out the gate, that would be the same for Obama should he win. (this comment directed at comparing Palin and Obama) It remains to be seen how well she will speak unrehearsed and without a teleprompter. You can take the person out of the trailer, but not the trailer out of the person, so we will see that in the debates with no prompter.
  4. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The guy also had this constant look on his face.....the look of, fuck I don't want to be here....should have pulled out sooner. Yea, he was thinking of teh shotgun they broke out earlier. >>>>>>>>>>Now the reason I will remember those two things mostly, is because she didn't bring any substance into her speech, so there is nothing of substance to discuss either. That is typical of the Republican Party tho.
  5. Actually, we view talk of patriotism as empty political rhetoric. We're not afraid of patriotism; we're just not naïve enough to be wooed by such claims. Since liberals like change, it takes dissent to make change, so liberals often dissent rathar than can our opinions and lock-step march behind a dictator like Bush.
  6. Supporting separation of church and state is a far cry from supporting book banning, counselor. The former is supporting the first amendment. The latter is attacking it. I'm surprised you don't respect precedent of SCOTUS. States don't have a right to secede. Right, I think there was a little war over that 150 years ago, not sure of the outcome
  7. the number i've heard is 90%, but i've also heard (haven't checked the numbers myself) is that about 90% of votes are unanimous or near unanimous, so that puts obama and mccain in agreement 90 of the time as well. What? Senatorial voting records are accountable and recorded? http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=101&session=2&vote=00203 Poli sci 101. I would say something way more severe, but I like to be here
  8. Yea, like a 30-year trial lawyer debating a high school dropout.
  9. Yea, C U Next Tuesday comes to mind. But remember, the Dems talk your ears off, the Repubs just fall inline behind 1 leader and never question things, just the different protocols so nothing new.
  10. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_palin_cindy_mccain_1 Cindy disagrees with Palin and her husband.
  11. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I am also a Libertarian. I don't think the government should be providing funding for any health care, including abortions. So then let the sick, die? Fuck em?
  12. Welll exactly.....good luck
  13. Obama: Her familt is off limits, esp her kids Palin: Bulldog with lipstick, nasty beotch We see the MO's at work here and I see who is nasty.
  14. When I get citizenship I'll be proud to be an American, but I'm still a liberal (by your definition of not supporting a republican). How does that fit into your bullshit statement. Oh it doesn't does it, your just spinning another nasty attack from the right, make you feel proud and patriotic to slam half of your countrymen for thinking freely like the founders intended? Liberals are liberals...I didn't say anything about party. Show me how many times Obama calls himself a patriot in his acceptance speech...zero. Sure he mentions patriotism...twice. Liberals don't like to talk about being patriotic. It's like a bad cocktail party joke. Because it's subjective rhetoric. Do you know what nationalism is? http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/nationalism It can be healthy, but generally is not, esp when extremists use it.
  15. >>>>>>>>>>>>>No, I don't follow the typical media bias that Bush is someone to be avoided. I think he's a good man and a great leader. Do you follow graphs, data a numbers? He inherited 5.5 trillion $ debt and it is just about 10 trillion. Does that worry you? Oh, and he inherited 236B in annual surplus and a 33b/yr debt increase, essentially flatline. Still a 10%er? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>But, like I said, this is a thread about Palin, and the Bush bashers have plenty of threads and plenty of bullshit to post. How about posting data and historical evidence as i have? BTW, I have plenty more, it's just that neo-cons don't care about that stuff; do you?
  16. Indeed. If she speaks half as well in debates as she did in this teleprompter speech, her opponents will be in trouble. My bet is that they're very concerned right now. She is the first person on the national stage in a LONG time who can get away with sarcasm without being smarmy. Oh, she was sarcastic. And a "pit bull" with lipstick. But lesson learned to so many out there - it is okay to be cheerful. She was cheerful in her speech. Her smile was real. She smiled. There was a sense of sweetness. She is unlike Hillary Clinton - she doesn't talk down to you from a position of superiority. She can crack jokes in a deadpan and sweet manner. She could have said, "That's change you can Xerox" and get laughter. Hillary can't do it. Ann Richards couldn't do it. She could backhand Obama - being a small-town mayor is "like being a community organizer - only you have actual responsibilities." OUCH! Now, I would love to have seen Obama watching the speech. If Obama laughed at those comments, well, he'd probably get my vote. Now, I disagree with some of her policy statements. Terrorists also deserve Constitutional rights. I don't dig that. But she added some common sense. I don't think we should be drilling for oil in Alaska. She said the she knows it won't solve all the problems, but that shouldn't mean just leave it. Policy wise I disagree. From a speech standpoint - she's on. But most importantly - this was her FIRST national audience. Her FIRST time giving a speech like this. And dammit, she delivered. Firm voice. Sweetness. Cheer. But serious. She went yard in her first at bat in the show. Who the hell else could have done that? And she hasn't had weeks, months or years of training. Which leads me to believe that who we saw is who she is. She is not only real, she is FOR real. And I'll tell you, Biden is saying to himself, "Ohhhhhhhhhh SHIT!!!" Hey resident Republican....oh wait, Libertarian, sorry, just that you sounded 95% like a Republican - my bad. I don't know what area of law you practice, but the Biden / Palin debate would be like you arguing a motion before a judge, opposing a pro per. Wanna deny it, fine, but you WTF I'm talking about.
  17. As I just replied to another poster, how is a newby to Washington gonna stand a chance to a career politician? It's nice to think David can beat Golliah (sp), but is it realistic?
  18. Indeed. If she speaks half as well in debates as she did in this teleprompter speech, her opponents will be in trouble. My bet is that they're very concerned right now. Agreed. I get the feeling Biden's gonna get his balls busted. The guy is a career politician, this would be like you going before a judge opposing a 30-year trial lawyer. Get real.
  19. if you think that mccain is the same as bush, then you've bought into the bullshit. mccain is about as different from bush as you can get and still have as "r" next to your name. And yet voted 95% with Bush....... as close to the same as you can get
  20. Just different definitions. Liberals think patriotism is measured in how you help all people, lower debt, make education and helathcare more available. Neo-cons measure it in terms of spending more on teh military and invading more countries.
  21. For a presidential or senatorial election, do you really think people are drawn to beauty?
  22. You have to admit she is cute for a VP. Personally I wouldn't vote for her for this reason alone, but you can imagine that some people wood :) She's a VP candidate and for a Vp candidate? What do we compare her to, Ferraro?
  23. She definitely impressed me. As a VP nominee, she earmarks everything Obama is not. Yes, what Obama is not..... a VP candidate
  24. ...>>>>>>>She's even tougher than Dick Cheney! Tougher than a fat heart attack voctim in the making? >>>>>>>>>>>Prettier, more likeable, and most importantly she's better with a shotgun. Neccessary to add prettier than Cheney? And more likeable than Mr. Death warmed over? Insightful post my friend. Are we sure we need to use Cheney as a standard for success, Cheney has I think the lowest approval rating of any VP. >>>>>>>>>>>>>She's gonna do a great job of assisting McCain in kicking both Obama's and Biden's asses in the next couple of months and exposing the typical Marxist lies. With Hitleresque lies?
