  1. The election will be decided as usual.... it's the economy, stupid. Not calling you stupid, just quoting Carville. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It's_the_economy,_stupid
  2. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>no the mortgage meltdown was caused by stupid people Yes, they're called the Bush Admin. It is the duty of the fed reserve to adjust interest rates as needed. Even when we had our Carter recession, they kept rates high as to not get into this mess. Bush and the reserve artificially kept them low for a long time, sellers then adjusted their prices to keep monthly payments the same, while principal increased, interest decreased, so here we are. It was a giant pyramid scheme and the gov failed to intervien, just as with Katrina.
  3. How else do you intend to pay for the massive amounts of money the US has spent over the last couple of years? You are behaving like the typical person who maxes their credit cards and then gets upset that they have to pay back the money. And will be more pissed when the world cuts them off or devalues US curreny to the point that we cannot travel overseas or buy foreign goods.
  4. When replying, why not hit the quote instead of reply so I can see what I'm replying to? We are all multi-posting here. >>>>>>>>>>>>As if all that information was from Bush himself? He counted on other people that lied to him. I don't feel he should have all the blame land in his lap. What information - see, quote, not reply. Regardless, ignorance is no excuse, and Bush is all about ignorance....waht does that say about Bush voters? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>And Clinton also cut taxes for his budget: While balancing the budget, running large surpluses and paying down the debt,... He didn't pay down the debt, it increased every year under him. Now it did increase at a lower number every year. He inherited about 250B/yr, to his last year when it was down to 33B increase. This is astounding, as the 2 neo-con garbage boys ran it at 250B yr for 12 straight years. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
  5. >>>>>>>>>>Clinton drained us over his term. I expected as much brilliance. Figures are from start to end of his terms. - Unemp 7% to 4% - Deficit from -290B to +236B - Annual debt addition fell from 250B to 33B - Valur of the dollar as compared to Canada: $1US = $1.28CAN to $1US = $1.55CAN - Dow Jones 3500 to 9800 So how is it your argument makes any sense? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>Clinton balanced the buget on our backs and drained our savings to do it. So you at least admit the obvious, Clinton did balance the budget. How did it drain your your savings? Wages were up and inflation typical, if you failed to save then you failed. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>my pay and bring home pay shrunk each year clinton was in office. I don't know what your vocation was, but I increased my pay. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I have had an increase each year Bush has been there. I have also, at least as of late, of course factoring in tripple gas prices, rent increase, food more expensive and just about everything more, I actually have pay cut.
  6. Tell that to Joe Lieberman. In case you missed that little mid-term election thingy a couple years back, the Dems failed to nominate him and he went Indep, 2/3 of his nominating body were Repubs. He now backs McSame..... so, case in my point.
  7. No, it's like this: go to a Repub convention advocating anything left, like abortion, gay rights, just anything and see what you receive. Now, go to a Dem convention and advocate gun ownership, tax cuts, etc and see what you receive. The right is intolerant to change, hence conservative, which leads to lock-stepping. Not making a personal attack on the right at all, just an objective observation.
  8. He was better than your favorite choice. And you are able to see what he would have done if he were appointed president? Pure conjecture, we know what your choice has done, please, oh please illustrate where we would be if Kerry were president.
  9. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bush sure was "right" to the general public until about 2 years ago... HUH? As for the bad decision/balls correlation, I guess we can call bank robbers balsy then in that same accord.
  10. Fixed the first part. People made bad choices? No, the depleted interest rate is what led to the mortgage meltdown. Why were the interest rate so low so long? The fed uses that to stimulate the economy, but Bush's policies had depleted that so much that even 5% interest couldn't help.
  11. Clinton did many things he claimed he would do with teh government. Truthfully, so did Bush; he only lied about the entry into Iraq, other than that he delivered as promised.
  12. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>All i could think was who was going to pay for this shit? The same people that currently pay about 700 billion a year for the military and the war; the debt. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I really couldn't believe people got excited about his plans. sounded like something you would here from Russia. Yea, greed is an American thing, I agree. >>>>>>>>>>>>>I don't want government giving me things or giving my hard earned money to someone else for their little pet projects. Unless that project is a 2 billion $ B-2 or something cool like that. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>I don't agree with everything on the McCain / Palin ticket but i feel alot better about it. I agree, no sesne in changing the direcction of the country now, thimgs are going so well.
  13. Huh? They were your words..... McCain denied medical care sounds like such an American ideal, maybe he learned it there since he so for exclusive medical care
  14. We need more taxes. Do you think Clinton did a good job with the economy or not? He raised taxes and everyone prospered. Bush cut taxes, cleared out the surplus and look what happened.
  15. There is less lock-stepping on the left than the right. Take my word for it Mr. "aren't senatorial votes annymous."
  16. Biden has not either. So the only person with executive experience is Palin. Well then let's just make her president then. OTOH, your favorite leader, the current one, does have experience as a governor, so we see that experience is important.
  17. None, but McCain hasn't run any government either. Isn't that the guy the Republicans want for president? Yea, the right is saying that Obama has no leadership experience, yet neither does McSame in the same light, neither have been Governor.
  18. Well, I dont know about that and you do stretch this well but, if one does look objectivly McCain Palin would look to be "change" more thatn Obama Biden. I asked this earlier this week. What changes has McCain proposed from what we're currently doing? Blues, Dave Nothing really but, neither has or does Obama. But, Palin has more oportunity for change than Biden. The Chicago political machine is either the model for DC or visa versa. What I find interesting about Obama is how he got elected the firest time. By finding technicalities to have his rival removed from the ballot. How do you figure, the House should stay Dem and the Senate probably will be too, so how is it that McSame would be able to change more?
  19. Well, I dont know about that and you do stretch this well but, if one does look objectivly McCain Palin would look to be "change" more thatn Obama Biden. If we look at the party change, 20 of 28 years has been Republican, so that is inherent change to have a Dem elected. If we look at the potential change from Bush/Cheney to McCain/Palin VERSUS Bush/Cheney to Obama/Palin how can you say that the latter isn't more change?
  20. and out the gate, that would be the same for Obama should he win. (this comment directed at comparing Palin and Obama) It remains to be seen how well she will speak unrehearsed and without a teleprompter. Yes, I agree I am looking forward to her debates with Biden. He is a known, she is an unknown He's got 35 years, she has none (governors don't argue issues as legislators do).
  21. What part of "tortured as a POW and medical attention denied by Viet Cong when captured" did you miss? I figure he has some lingering physical limitations from that experience. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>...medical attention denied by Viet Cong when captured.. So we're also run by the Viet Cong then , or McSame's answer is to make medical attention exclusive. Sounds like he learned a thing or two over there.
  22. Absolutely. Sex sells. Dumb, pretty people are almost always more popular than ugly smart people. Unfortunately, our elections are glorified popularity contests. OTOH, I've heard that many ladies find Obama as easy on the eyes as many guys find Palin to be, so the effect won't be one sided. I want to believe that substance will carry, but in reality, probably naive.

  24. Based on a poll here on SC, it appears that most people disagree with her ideas on abortion. I suspect most disagree with her ideas on sex ed. too. She IS on the extreme right. When it was McSame's job to get someone more near center..... he missed..
