  1. And how many of teh good guys were calling GWB a 1-termer from early 01 until Nov 04? And think, trudbag got fewer popular votes than Gore in an election frought with typical Republican corruption....in 04 he won more PV's. So keep your excitement down, if the youngens show up, count on another landslide, my friends.
  2. What were you saying as Bush pushed teh Overtime Bill thru congress time after time....it took him 3 years of pushing before he succeeded. OTOH if he quits he will have failed, so even if, in your position HC reform is a bad thing, losing a HUGE battle can be politically worse. I just think the Dems pussying out again would be the worst thing they can do, regardless of the issue.
  3. Nope, 2 choices: - Put the bill(s) thru the senate and let the R's show their colors and fillibuster, even tho they claim it's dirty, or... - Reconcilliation and do like Bush's sunsetting tax cuts, didn't hurt der fuhrer in chief, did it? And he even got in the Overtime Bill to revoke some OT from workers and that didn't even hurt him.
  4. Great idea-you go grab your own fucking insurance and stop the bull about me footing your bill. Glad we're in agreement here. Hey lets tell ALL of the government employees the same thing... ALL of them.. Which insurance company would you suggest using for our military??? I wounder how many of them would get turned down because of "pre-existing conditions" for their battle wounds... or PTSD Come on, you know the R's love GI's untul they are damaged goods, then they're disposable like bic lighters.
  5. That's another great option, I was saying that would be great to see then thne 40 members yammer away and when it comes time in a few years when HC is trashed, if the fillibuster worked, then the R's could only be blamed for plugging up reform. It would be great to see teh Dems have a few balls tho, whatever they do.
  6. Because a majority don't want this crap laiden bill stuffed down their throats? Which again begs the question: Why haven't the President and Senate Democrats pulled the reconciliation trigger before now? It's not as if the Repugs haven't been cock-blocking all they can and the Repugs have recently ised Reconciliation, so fuck it, let's get her done. Altho it will be a 10-year fix only, but if people get to like it, it stays under permanent law, if they dislike it, it gets tossed as a failure never to reemerge in your lifetime; what are you afraid of? Reconciliaion is dirty pool, unless your party is shoving tax cuts, oil drilling in nature refuge areas or other RW shit down the throats of the US.
  7. Anyone who has read deeply and extensively into the history of the inner-most workings of the Nixon and Ford Administrations and their key top personnel, including Haig - which I have - knows how very true that is. I say that purely from an historical perspective. Do you really have to read that deeply into it to make that determination?
  8. It makes field interrogation very simple. HUMINT is required to win a war. Captor: Tell me what you know. POW: No. Captor: "Bang" Next witness. Awesome. Jack Bauer has nothing on your mad skilz. Nor did Adolf Hitler Stalin, Pol Pot, etc
  9. It makes field interrogation very simple. HUMINT is required to win a war. Captor: Tell me what you know. POW: No. Captor: "Bang" Next witness. So you're pro-torture. Admirable. And then in the same breath, out of the other side of your face, you proclaim that these rogue regimes are horrible because they torure other people. People begin to think teh US is full of shit when we do that, but you want the US to the Imperialistic tyrant and wonder why others refuse to call it freedom. So you agree that, by definition, waterboarding IS torture.
  10. You're right, maybe he likes being beat, starved and abandond too; all laws protecting animals should be repealed. Why would I, I'm an example of both? So we DO have laws protecting animals! That's a relief. From the nature of your OP there were no laws anywhere that had the welfare of animals in mind. I believe you are blue collar. Nothing wrong with that. I am as well, 80% of the time. Watching every episode of Matlock 3 times does not equate to a degree of any kind. And these don't count either. www.speedydegrees.com/ >>>>>So we DO have laws protecting animals! Barely. Basically charged as misdemeanors with jail time rarely given. >>>>>>>Watching every episode of Matlock 3 times does not equate to a degree of any kind. A BS in Justice from a major state university, however, does count. >>>>>>And these don't count either. http://www.speedydegrees.com/ We could put a couple tho in an escrow account and I could prove to you I have a BS in Justice from a MAJOR state Univ, then I withdrawl the entire amount, unless I can't, then you do. Exactly, sit back down in your chair and have a been.
  11. You're right, maybe he likes being beat, starved and abandond too; all laws protecting animals should be repealed. Why would I, I'm an example of both?
  12. You're right. RIP to General Haig: Distinguished Flying Cross Distinguished Service Cross Purple Heart Silver Star This man fought through challenges in Vietnam that I cannot even imagine. Way more bravery than most of us will ever have. Stand down sir... The set of war heroes and the set of assholes are not mutually exclusive. Words that should be written in stone.... BTW, Kallend, stand down, sir...
  13. What, is this the 1800's Brittish Parlamentary? I do declare..... you shall stand down, sir..... or 20 paces.... BTW, quit the PA's. You can't call people trolls inopen forum, PM me if ya wanna exchange niceties.
  14. What's with the derogatory condecension, toward what someone had done, or does, for a living?....Says more about you, than him. Yet no commentary on Belgian's response to the dog saving a child: That's what I think. He was just staying warm himself and protecting his next meal from the coyotes. That says more about you than anyone in this thread or the subject matter altogether.
  15. It was actually funny until you drifted into Republican/Libertarian (same thing) tax policy, then it just became stupid.
  16. Maybe the dog was just trying to stay warm.........OK, I'm outta here. That's what I think. He was just staying warm himself and protecting his next meal from the coyotes. Go build a trailer, an object that follows and is pulled thru life with no direction of its own.
  17. But if the dog was sleeping inside the house, he wouldn't have been outside to save the girl. Perhaps he would have been with the girl. I'm not advoicating the dog never leave the house and shit all over, just that the dog, all dogs are people too.
  18. Maybe the dog was just trying to stay warm.........OK, I'm outta here. ...............
  19. This one And it needs no explanation as to why AKA: I have no response yet can't help myself an am compelled to respond with yet nothing again. WHat can ya say; yea, fuck teh dog, he should be outside where fucking dogs belong? (after saving a 3yo child)
  20. Re-posting makes your assertion less ridicules? Posting issues not related to the thread makes your posts typical.
  21. What conspiracies are they promoting? tea party members are all radicals http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2010/02/18/wapos-capehart-austin-suicide-pilots-alienation-similar-extreme-eleme http://vodpod.com/watch/2908316-im-falling-in-love-with-john-stewart-all-over-again http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/09/rachel-maddow-ana-marie-c_n_185445.html http://newsbusters.org/blogs/scott-whitlock/2010/01/15/chris-matthews-special-deride-tea-party-protesters-who-are-threatene here are a few for your enjoyment HWT, Do you know what a conspiracy is? Hint: it's not an opinion. Is that the best you have? Yes, that's all you need. A conspiracy is: con·spir·a·cy   /kənˈspɪrəsi/ Show Spelled[kuhn-spir-uh-see] Show IPA –noun,plural-cies. 1.the act of conspiring. 2.an evil, unlawful, treacherous, or surreptitious plan formulated in secret by two or more persons; plot. 3.a combination of persons for a secret, unlawful, or evil purpose: He joined the conspiracy to overthrow the government. 4.Law. an agreement by two or more persons to commit a crime, fraud, or other wrongful act. 5.any concurrence in action; combination in bringing about a given result. How are the 4 citations above referring to a conspiracy? They seem like Dems calling the teabaggers a bunch iof idiots, that's their opinion. 1) http://newsbusters.org/...imilar-extreme-eleme WaPo's Capehart: Austin Suicide Pilot's 'Alienation Similar To Extreme Elements of Tea Party Movement' That's a comparison of the Austin nut to the teabaggers, not a conspiracy. 2) http://vodpod.com/...ewart-all-over-again Jon Stewart Mocks Keith Olbermann Over Scott Brown Attacks That's a comedy clip satirizing remarks and some of the teabaggers still slam me for posting the Onion wondering if teh RW had gone nuts. Mirror, folks. You're calling a comedy clip a legitimate conspiracy 3) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...arie-c_n_185445.html "Tea Bagging" Rallies Ruthlessly Mocked On Maddow Show OK, so Maddow mocks RW garbage; that's a conspiracy???? 4) http://newsbusters.org/...rs-who-are-threatene Ad for Chris Matthews Special Derides Tea Party Protesters Who Are ‘Threatened’ by Black President Mathews derides people who are afraid of black president; where's the conspiracy, the plan? Is the plan to perhaps have yet another black president and potentially have every future president as a black person? OMG, what's next; a gay senator? Oh wait, that's already been done in I-da-ho with Larry "wide stance" Craig. Learn what words mean, as in by using the dictionary.
  22. It's a black thing, you wouldn't understand Yes, Obama is for the bruthas and da sistas Oh wait, one more idiotic assertion before I close: Obama was only elected because of the black turnout in Nov 08
  23. Everything I saw or read pertaining to waterboarding indicated that the practice produces the intense fear of drowning. It does not create physical pain. How is fear equated with torture? Creating fear to motivate or modify someone's behavior is an everyday occurrence. Fear, in some form, was emphasized in every position I ever held. If you choose to respond, base your response on the concept that fear equals torture. To me, it seems obvious; but I realized that we could get bogged down in defining "torture". So, to help lay a foundation, and since we're discussing actions done by or on behalf of the United States, here's the definition under United States law: *** TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 113C > § 2340 § 2340. Definitions As used in this chapter— (1) “torture” means an act committed by a person acting under the color of law specifically intended to inflict severe physical or mental pain or suffering (other than pain or suffering incidental to lawful sanctions) upon another person within his custody or physical control; (2) “severe mental pain or suffering” means the prolonged mental harm caused by or resulting from— (A) the intentional infliction or threatened infliction of severe physical pain or suffering; (B) the administration or application, or threatened administration or application, of mind-altering substances or other procedures calculated to disrupt profoundly the senses or the personality; (C) the threat of imminent death; or (D) the threat that another person will imminently be subjected to death, severe physical pain or suffering, or the administration or application of mind-altering substances or other procedures calculated to disrupt profoundly the senses or personality... If I was a judge (and with 25 years of practice I think I'm qualified to be one), I would rule that waterboarding constitutes torture under US law under several aspects of this legal definition. Thank you, that makes sense to me, from the legal perspective. How's this for a legal pespective?: The Justice Dept revised the defintion at the end of 2004 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A37687-2004Dec30.html Acting Assistant Attorney General Daniel Levin said in the new memo that torture may consist of acts that fall short of provoking excruciating and agonizing pain and thus may include mere physical suffering or lasting mental anguish. His opinion is meant, according to its language, to undermine any notion that those who conduct harmful interrogations may be exempt from prosecution.
  24. kind of like where in one country the planet was given standing A lawyer smorgasbord HUH? http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2010/02/05/18637075.php OK, so they revered the earth as a legally defensable entity with rights, what a foreign concept to look at something so fundamentally important as having rights. Perhaps they did so to further environmental rights. Now, back to our regularly scheduled thread; animals should have rights too - see if you can stay focused. Oh I am focused Focused on the ridicules idea put forth in this thread Baby steps here.....which ideas are ridiculous? There were several, which and why?
  25. Here, you lost focus again http://www.aolnews.com/...lers-life%2F19366699 Police Credit Dog With Saving Lost Girl's Life I hope they aren't scum and have the dog sleep outside in a doghouse, before or after that event. If there were coyotes, that dog would have died fighting to save her. Animal cruelty laws should be written to essentially give animls the rights/protections humans have.
