After 2 jumps, it seems to me that the mental side is nearly everything in this sport. Has anyone read this book, and what were your impressions? I'm just looking for some good exercises to help me to focus on my tasks in spite of some sensory overload. Thanks! It looks and sounds to me like he was saying 'let me go' and struggling out of fear that the stupid rent-a-cops would end up killing him. There was no assault, and that charge will not stand in court. He will plea it out to a $10,000 fine and walk. It's too bad he didn't get to do the jump. Nope. The price would drop as the production was scaled up. This would just be part of the cost of home ownership, just like cars have emission standards and safety standards. How about a million hamsters in those little wheels with a tiny generator on each one? I think every new house should have the roof covered with solar shingles by law. Did my first jump today, and boy did I have the dry mouth thing going on! What is up iwth that anyway? For me, I had too much other stuff running through my head to think about being afraid. I kept running through arch, count, check canopy, etc. and I think that helped level me out a bit. At the same time, the dry mouth let me know what was going on underneath it all. I guess what it comes down to is that I have a bit of a problem with the idea of land ownership. The idea that someone owns 1000 acres because their grandaddy's grandaddy's grandad bought it a few centuries ago from some government entity seems ludicrous. We are all equally entitled to a share of the earth. I know that is a bit unrealisitic, yes. But philosophically, it makes sense to me. Well, the first jump is in the log. (IAD) I started with a good arch, and then swam a little, which my instructor told me is not uncommon. The canopy flight was great, and I landed on target, right in the pea pit. I flared maybe a second late, and slid in a bit on my feet and then gently down to my butt. There is really no way to describe the feeling. I can only imagine what it feels like to be in freefall and truly 'own it'. Baby steps...... If the oil in Iraq belongs to the Iraqi people, as the administration has said many times, shouldn't the oil in the USA belong to the American people? If so, why did we sell the rights to companies that ship it overseas? They are stealing our oil! They should sell off a small portion to pay for drilling and transport, and we should get the rest. Aww, stop whining. Lots of things people do are gross and stupid. As far as butts in the street - there is lots of garbage in the streets. How about enforcing the litter laws - and not just against smokers. So, what's your point? What about wealthy coke addicts, middle class potheads, and homeless wine-o's? By saying that, you are making it a 'poor' problem. Think about other diseases that 'primarily' affect only certain groups. Does that mean other people shouldn't be concerned?
