Ok.... I'm on my third IAD, and things are going great except for one thing - kicking legs. My instructor said that as soon as I executed my PRC my legs stopped moving. And that my PRC was done well. Anyone else go through this? The thing is, it's not panic, as I feel pretty calm the whole time. Any suggestions on training myself on the ground to become more aware of my legs when I'm out the door? I feel like once I get this corrected, I will be on my way. Just as a follow-up, I have to say that my fear was misplaced. There is quite a perspective change when you go from a wuffo with no jumps to someone who has actually let go of an airplane. Having experienced a bit of sensory overload on that first jump, I can see where the AAD could save the life of a new jumper, or an experienced jumper for that matter. I'd like to think that if something would have went wrong, I would have had the presence of mind to cut away, but until you are in that situation, there is really no way to be certain. All you can do is review your EP's and keep your cool as best you can. So, AAD's no longer scare me - there are plenty of other things to worry about. Having only 2 jumps, I can say that for me, absolutely nothing else matters in the entire universe when I let go of that strut, besides what I am doing at that moment. So, in that way it is a powerful escape. I became interested in skydiving because it looked like so much damn fun! Also, I often would go to bed at night wondering 'well, another day. Is this all there is? There has to be more to life, right?' So I guess I am escaping - boredom. At the same time, any fantasy about what it would be like has melted away. I have come to realize that it a damn serious and unforgiving endeavor. It is NO JOKE, and I have a new found respect for those who do it, seemingly effortlessly. I am continuing on with training, because I want to get to the point where I can experience what I have seen in so many kick ass videos. I know now it will not be easy, and I can't really know what the rewards will be. But working hard on each jump and hopefully achieving my goals is the only way to find out. Reality TV shows make me want to puke. My wife insists on watching Survivor and Big Brother and it drives me insane. It would be one thing if the shows were anywhere neat 'reality', but they aren't.
