I have the American version of the 10d, the Rebel Digital. For skydiving and general photography it is a great camera, it is a lot lighter than the 10d, and cheaper. If your looking for something to use skydiving, and for general photography I would recomend it 100%. If your looking for something more proffesional, and have the Cash, go with the 10d. Good luck. Do pawn shops really buy skydiving gear? I would think that it's too specialized of an item, plus the people at the pawn shops wouldn't have a clue what they were looking at or how much it is worth.. I think one of the biggest problems out there is that, not a lot of skydivers do question something, they believe that just because something is for sale, its 100% safe. While no one makes the perfect rig, canopy or automatic opening device, there is a lot to be said for those that go the extra step to try and provide the safest product possible. A good example is reserve canopies. People buy a reserve with the intention of hopefully never jumping it, why would you purchase something that is to be your last chance, and not look into it, and test fly one first. Buying a rig or a canopy because someone on your dropzone jumps one and he looks cool jumping it, or he/she is high profile, is a bad idea. So this is something to think about, maybe the idea of providing a superior product, and asking your customers to look around, and ask questions and do some research. Then if you provide the best product, they clearly will make the best choice. Advertising will always sell gear, but I trust my life to more than who has the best ads, or who sponsors the best teams. I know that Ravens were used as mains and reserves (of course not the same exact canopy), so if you could jump a raven as a main for 1000+ jumps why couldnt you do more than 20 jumps on your reserve, Also Pd has a demo program where you can demo a Pd reserve, I know they dont retire the reserves after 20 jumps, they do inspect and keep them in close tolerance for a factory reserve. I jumped a Pd 106 with close to 50 jumps on it, and it landed, and opened perfectly, I was wingloading the hell out of it also. I was once in a Skyvan that decended so fast that cypresses fired, this was on a pre-demo flybye. So, we had open, reserve containers. The wind flap on the skyvan was immediately closed, and the rigs were taken off, and secured. It was quite surprising to me how loud a cypress and a reserve fire is. So do you still think this is a respectable way to treat a customer? Credit card fees are typical overhead, paying a tandem master to teach a class? I want to work there. This is bad business, skydiving the first time is a memory you will nevor forget, unfortunately this guy has a memory he will nevor forget of not skydiving. Ripping people off in this manner is bad form, I for one will never give that dz a dollar of my money now. We cant choose how people do business but we can choose who we do business with. Hopefully, the owner or responsable individuals, will remedy the situation, but paying almost $800 for bad weather is rediculous, and taking the money is even more rediculous. At my dropzone we dont have a pond, so when I get the urge to swoop water (which I always have) I have to drive an hour and a half to Zhills to swoop their pond. Would you drive to another Dz just based on the fact that they had a pond. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
