IMO you can never get enough practice when it comes to EPs. that's why you'll see me and many of my fellow jumpers practicing walking to the plane and on the ride up. i was taught to LOOK where i'm grabbing, doing so has saved my ass twice. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

i got 0:5:0 1 H&P, 2 FF sit jumps, 1 RW- turned 9 points, and 1 hoop dive. didn't owe because i didn't make it through the hoop (I Float), it was fun trying though. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

if you ever make it to Texas i cordially invite you to Skydive Houston. virtually every saturday night there is beer, food and skydivers hanging out. we all chip in for the beer and food. the conversation and jump stories are free. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

the container that cost the least new in a Dolphin. also remeber that containers can have the harness resized. so that may be an option for used gear that needs to fit better. also let as many people at your DZ know your on the lookout for gear. riggers, instructors and fellow jumpers ect... and post a Wanted ad on here and at your DZ. someone may see it and be able to help you out. get as many feelers out there as possible. best of luck on your gear search. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

what constitutes being out of someone's league?

a 4000 meter (13,123 feet) cliff and gravity that's roughly half the earth's. sure it'd take longer to reach terminal but you'd have lots more play time. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

What's the difference between a PD Storm and a Spectre?

here's my .02 having recently demoed both. a spectre 150 in may and a storm 150 in june. both are virtually the same when it comes to openings and braked flight characteristics. with the storm not sniviling as long, but opening just as soft, as the spectre. in full flight the storm's glide angle is less steep and it's turns seemed snappier to me. if i had the $$ to buy a new canopy right now, of the 2 i'd get a storm. cheers diamonds are a dawgs best friend -

It is something like PD is telling us and it is an excellent canopy for someone with 100 jumps. Of course, that is if its jumped at an appropriate wingloading for the jumper's experience. I talked about the production demo I jumped a few weeks ago in another thread and all in all the best way to describe it is as a 7-cell Sabre2 that opens better then a Spectre. Impressive to say the least. X2 on what dave said. having recently demoed a storm and a spectre. i'd pick the storm. it's glide angle in full flight it less steep than the spectre and it's turns felt snappier (to me). but the openings and braked flight characteristics of the two were pretty much identical. contact PD about getting a demo. they'll get you one for your current skill level. cheers diamonds are a dawgs best friend

demoed a spectre 150 mid may and a storm 150 mid june. both opened very nicely with the storm seeming to open a bit quicker but just as nice as the spectre. i followed PD's packing method and with both canopies there was a time or two that i rushed a pack job to make a load but still had nice openings. as with any canopy demoing is the best way to know if you'll like it. cheers. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

another side of the "over qualified" coin: is that they don't want to use up the man hours and payroll hiring and training someone they think you may seek a more challenging/ higher paying job within a year or 2. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

the best way to learn about jumping is from jumpers in person. go to the DZ and hang out and ask lots of questions. in my short time in the sport i have found no shortage of jumpers willing to share info and teach me things to help me become a better and safer skydiver. and if there's is anything jumpers love as much as jumping it's talking about jumping. don't worry about barely knowing people, just get out to the DZ, listen, ask and learn, and you'll have lots of new friends in no time. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

if time permits between now and the wedding, you could cover the cost of some demos so he'll have a better idea of what canopy he likes. then get him what he likes or a G.C. from a gear store so he can pick out the one he likes. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

it's pretty much a non-issue to me. if a product is annoyingly overly mentioned by the actors or part of the plot line, i'll watch something else. products placed in a show just become part of the background to me. in fact, the last time an ad actually worked and motivated me to go buy something was a billboard for Shiner black. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
