  1. "but packing a Sabre2 150 in a 340 will make its main as hard as a brick. Its going to be realy stiff on your back." Thanks, that what I was looking for. But at the same time two canopies of the same manufacturer (PD) was quoted as example. "Don't just look for a "canopy to fit" Look for the right reserve canopy for you and then build the container around it." That’s what I want to asses and my priority is to get correct canopies, container, etc. However the manufacturer of the container is assuming that the owner of the container will compare his canopy with the listed canopy examples, otherwise should make a full list himself and provide that information. So, what are the criteria to use for canopy comparison, except the experience? Thanks, JanuszPS Back to Poland... back home.
  2. Packing volume Vector3 340M I’m considering buying Vector 3 340M container for my current canopy due to the recent downsize to SA2 150. However it is fairly difficult to establish which canopies fit into the container (both trays). From the manufacturer website: main: Batwing 134, Stiletto 135, Sabre 135, Spectre 135. reserve: Micro Raven 135, Mini Cricket 130, PDR126 Unfortunately I cannot find solid information about packing volume of these canopies – different numbers on different sources however I know that the numbers don't say everything. But from another site, manufacturer preparing this size chart assumed that any canopy type with similar pack volume as the sample grouped will naturally be suitable for the same container. And for example from Para Gear: Stiletto 135 = SA2 150 => 338cu.in. from http://www.dropzone.com/files/archive/gear/Canopy_vols.html Sabre 150 => 413cu.in. and from http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=57762; Sabre 150 => 413-398 cu.in. PDR 126 => 296 cu.in. Unfortunately PDR 126 is too small for me – I prefer to have very similar reserve size to my main, so I consider: Optimum PDR 143 – unknown volume Paratec Speed 2000 150 – 266cu.in. Question: Will this container hold my SA2 150 and Speed 2000 150 or Optimum 143? I’d like to send an e-mail to the UPT but I can’t find any e-mail address on their web. regards JanuszPS edit: I found here http://www.fallschirmsportverband.de/downloads/Technik/Packvolumen-Reserven.pdf Micro Raven 135 => 308cu.in. 3. The worst experience with the clods for me? 3 km freefall throughout a little snowy cloud and open in light rain at 800m wearing open face helmet in February with -15Cdeg at 4000m – I wouldn’t recommend it anyone (cloud base was about 1000m). And from last weekend – I had difficulties to read my altimeter due to the fog/water on my goggles. I know this is against politically correct trend (no sun no jumps) but if I haven’t jumped in cloudy days I would have had more than 50% of jumps less and that is reality. Some of people are luckier and live in sunny places some other a little bit less lucky ;-) And I always try to open below the cloud base after longer separation up there at least the cloud base is below 1000m (which happened good few times). Also I always check where clouds are and what altitude. Blue Sky JanuszPS (sorry for my English) 110 jumps so far Back to Poland... back home.
  4. Hi there, I have an Omega M container and 170 Cayenne main (wingload 1.1). To be honest I'm quite happy about the system - no problems at all. The flap which cost two fatalities has been redesigned and it's not a problem for bigger containers like mine - however the change is done. The canopy is a perfect glider - flies very good without loosing the altitude. The only problem with it is the opening characteristic. Not on heading - possibly some detail in packing method should change it to better but I’m still trying find the best way to do it. Closed end cells on opening every third time. Generally I like the system. In my opinion it doesn't have hard openings. Above is my opinion only. About 50 jumps on the system yet. Regards JPS PS I'd like to hear others opinions about the system. 5. Hi there, I'm interested in that canopy as well, to get it as my first rig. But I'm looking for a second hand. Is quite difficult to decide what to buy specially if you don't have a big experience. Any information will be very helpful. Regards JanuszPS (Europe zone ;-) Back to Poland... back home.
