What is your field of work?
MissyOutTheBox replied to Superman32's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I work with a catalyst company in the refineries. But am also an EMT. Have to have experience to back up those OSHA Safety Classes you know, where I can actually make some money doing Safety work in the refineries. You guys know the one person everyone hates. Oh well someone has to do it and it might as well be me since it pays good.. That will give me more $ to jump with... ------------------------------------------------------------ Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet. -
You speak the truth on that note! As a student with 2 jumps the more I knew about the gear made me a hell of alot calmer. My instructor went over every inch of the student rig twice and asked if I wanted him to expand on anything and it made me feel way better. Although I was a tad nervous especially when I was coming down my radio was spouting the NOAA weather channel on my first jump I was so much calmer than if I wouldn't have had the familiarity with the rig. Thank You oh mighty JM Jeff! ------------------------------------------------------------ Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.

I just thought to issue a little help with an issue I know something about. Glad I didn't overstep my boundries as I am new around here.... ------------------------------------------------------------ Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.

Ok I know this says Instructors and I am a newbie with only 2 static line jumps and a female, but I am going for it anyway.. You hit the nail on the head! "General Attitude". My Instructor explained that sometimes there may be situations where certain times especially dealing with the chest strap and the leg straps, that he might have to adjust things to ensure my safety and if I was uncomfortable with it let him know. That was extremely appreciated from my point of view. Of course his whole general attitude during the schooling also helped with this as he made the atmosphere comfortable where I felt and knew that he was only doing what he had to, to ensure my safety.. So I know you guys are gunshy because of all the bull#$%^ sexual harrassment crap, but take it from a female, If you assure your female students aforehand "WHY" and make the learning atmosphere comfortable and personal you won't have a problem with females pissing and moaning BS about improper touching. I myself would rather you do what you have to do to make sure I come down safe. But then again this is my own personal opinion.... ------------------------------------------------------------ Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.

Hello to you Godfrog I am pretty new here myself but to the whole sport itself not just the site. Catchy name. Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.

Why I think you might be right there SkyMamma! It is rather strange from unpacking a box someone ends up over 4000 feet in the air, but I think I really like it up there. I went out today but the winds were too high so it was a wash on jumping. But sometimes I guess that is the way it is what it is.. And to those looking for the Beaumont DZ GroundRush is located in Nome, Tx now. 409-253-2513 I think is the new tele but if you call the old # it gives you the new number so don't quote me on that phone #. Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.

It is a blue Cessna 182, don't know its name yet. All the people in Nome have been really real though. All the neighbors are known except a few. But I guess I can take care of that one..lol. But the weather is going to be great today again so I am going back out to Nome in a little while to do 2 more jumps hopefully. But you need to come out there... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.

I just did my ground school and first 2 static line jumps today in Nome, Tx at GroundRush and absolutely had an awesome time. I did a tandem in 1998 in Beaumont, Tx with some friends from Baton Rouge, La and had it videoed. Moved to Tx in May and just unpacked the box with the video Tues. found the video, watched it and called till I got someone on the tele and bailed today to the DropZone. In a split second find I have found a new lease on life in Nome. Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
