  1. You guys have a great DZ! I came out for a little while sat early. As a student would have had to take the ground school again to do an AFF and didn't have time. But everyone was great. I got alot of pics and stuff.. I really love that skyvan..I am so jealous. The sight of so many canopies dropping out of the sky made my day before I had to go to work at 6pm in PA. Sorry I missed the party it sounded like it was going to be a blast... Thanks for the welcome feeling and the meager time in the sunshine you guys afforded me.. Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  2. Hey what time is everything starting on sat. morning? I have been about 14 miles from crosskeys for a month and I am going to try and make it out there this weekend to enjoy the atmosphere for a few since I have been away from my home dz for 2 1/2 months. It will be nice to put some faces with names off the site here as everyone sounds to be unique in their own way.. So there are live bands, booze and all the neccesities of life I read..Does one need to bring anything with them? I am still a lowly student haha.. I hope to meet some of you guys out there this weekend. Oh yeah the weather has been nasty but is supposed to be good this weekend around here from what the weather man says... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  3. The office people are extremely nice when you call them at Crosskeys.. I myself needed info and they were really helpful as I am trying to get out there myself being in the area and it is only 14 miles away from where I am staying.... Maybe will see you out there when I finally get out there.. Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  4. Currently in from Texas and 16.5 miles away from Crosskeys from what I understand. Am trying to make it out there myself this weekend if only to visit as I am a SL student in Nome, Tx. Hope you get finished this weekend and I might see you there.. Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  5. That would be nice but have only the company van to get around in and the interstate signs already have me twisted up around here....lol.. I finally got to Philly so I am going to see what I can do..... I am going to call Crosskeys as someone suggested as soon as I can find them...I work night shift so I can go after I take a bath and before I goto bed .... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  6. Thanks. Contacted them and Liz emailed me back so as soon as I get a day off the guys said they would try and run me over there. I might just come to watch or I might decide to take an AFF just depends on the situation and such.. Will have to check with my instructors in Nome, Tx first to see what they say... They know my limits more than I do. Who knows... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  7. Thanks guys... I fly out in about 12 hours so as soon as I can get my schedule figured out I am going to try and head out to at least see the dz.. I am bringing my log book with me... I have been jumping out of our dz's 182 so I am game if I can find a sl dz up there. Or I can just come out and enjoy watching everyone else...lol.. Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  8. Yes.. But I wil be in Jersey and then Philly and then I am being shipped to Minneapolis..lol.. I just need to get up in the air and I am still on student status with the static line.. I have 7 jumps but have been taking my time.. Had a bad weekend and screwed up one of my prcp's both weekends so just playing it safe...Just want to make a few sl jumps till I can get home and such... Thanks for the link.... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  9. Ok I know now its cold up there. But are there any DZ's operating around New Jersey/Philidelphia/Minneapolis in the next month and a half?? Will be working in the area and if any are operating and offer static line I would love to maybe do a few static lines while up there to keep myself in the groove till I can get home to my home dz here in Texas to finish out my course.. I guess I first need to know is this something I can do??? Just trying to find out a little info on the protocol and if the ansewer is yes can someone from the area or anyone knowing of a few dz's send me a message or post the locations for me??/ PLEASE!!! I haven't been able to get up in almost a month and a half and I am seriously having withdrawals... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  10. Thanks for the tips guys...Haven't been able to jump for 3 weekends due to work and weather. Now I am being shipped to Minnesota for a few weeks..So I guess that will be another 2 weekends of no jumping.. If I don't have to stay northward for a month if the company keeps me our NE Region for a few extra.. But hey Money is Money...More jumps I can make.. Early??? I would have to get up before the crack of dawn to beat the pilot who is a student..lol.. Thanks again for the tips... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  11. Lah te dah... I hate looking skyward to beautiful skies and then remember I am at WORK!! Have missed the last 3 weekends due to work and weather. YUCK!!!! By the way, does anyone know if its cold in Minnesota right now?? lol. Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  12. Well hopefully when I get back from my 3 week job I have to go on I will climb back into my comfy stingray.. Back into my comfort zone gear wise. I did fine the last jump I did in the first rig I call the comfy one. So my jm's are going to try and let me jump in that one rig for the rest of my training if possible... Please..Please..Please... They are so great out at our dz.. I am fixing to be weaned off my radio too so every little bit of help I get helps..... Thanks for the support Countie Pooh! Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  13. Ok guys.. I guess it must take Moi' to make things so difficult.. I am who I am.. I have come to discover the rig I was jumping is just more comfy to me and I make better jumps with it.. So therefore I guess its a woman's thing...Sorry! I will try and not make things so difficult for you... The other rig just made me feel more cumbersome for some reason. I fit in between the pilot and the door better in my favorite rig, the comfy one and am able to exit better...lah te dah..whine whine whine.. Guess I will just suck it up and not distrub you fellas anymore..Good Luck on that one... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  14. The weather is looking pretty crappy for this weekend. I might have to wait to do my first live pull as the weather doesn't look like it is going to co-operate..We shall see...Fri rain sat. cloudy.. I might have to wait till I get back from that job and just do 2 more prcp's and then the first live pull..sniff..sniff.. Oh well more time to work on canopy control and landings... Keep packing and you will get it right girl!!!! Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  15. You made the right decision in buying that rig Kathleen! You landed that baby awesome today on that last hop and pop!!! I on my level, which is little to none watched you handle that canopy just like it should be as I snatched up your soda and shoved you off..lol... Don't beat me.... You came down and showed them all!! Oh yeah.. I just made it home..1150pm.. Dont' ask ended up in your neck of the woods at some redneck bar saving a friend from a geriactric admirer.. Give your hubby a big kiss/hug for that rig though it suits you to a tee!!!!!! Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  16. Ok. Although I am at jump 7 SL and not at the live pull I feel so much better after jumping today...Next weekend I should do my live pull... My JM and the ground crew on the radio said my canopy control was awesome.so.... Anyways, just got in from the dz and it is really late.. Got to meet someone very intresting though today.. Dewayne Dubrett?? He base jumped Angel Falls and was like on National Geographic or something like that.. He was like so REAL it was awesome.. The Afternoon was awesome, to bad you guys from Lafayette, La. didn't show you missed a beautiful day in the neighborhood!!!!! Sunny and blue skies along with nice winds... Oh yeah,, Hey Sparky, me and the pilot CJ short for Chute Jacker dont ask, I am going to fight for Rig 1 as I am so much more comfy in it. I f I have to duct tape his ass over the rig, "It's On Dude". Nothing like a good duct taping over a comfy rig..lol Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  17. Welcome.. Am quite new myself and in Texas. I vied for the SL route and like it.. Where are you in TX? Good Luck! Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  18. Thanks for packing class idea.. I watched the Sr. Rigger pack a tandem and he was explaining everything to me and it helped a little. My JM yesterday started showing me a little about packing too.. If I didn't have to go out of town to work today I might have just gone out to watch canopy work of everyone coming in/packing all day. But alas have a 10-12 hour drive to a job in the middle of nowhere Texas.. But will be back for next weekend and do my jumps over and watch some packing...Thanks for the idea on the packing class... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  19. The MOJO was just not there today from the beginning. Had one good jump and landing, the arch and the second jump and landing was good. But a little problem trying to get at the PRCP rag on the 2nd jump led to back to statement #1 Bad MOJO. My exit was just not my usual and so between My JM's and Myself decided I will do two more PRCP's and then my live pull...Rather get it right before I totally get on my own Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  20. They explained it would be a slower canopy and such but on the jump before it, SL 3 I was doing my first PRCP and did everything perfect except I felt a line twist in the lines and somehow kept the damn rag clutched in my hand after the twist popped itself out. Noticed it after I started reaching for the toggles, so I guess I was a little on edge already from that and the fact that being honest like I am I kept that SOB in my hand with the toggle all the way down just to let them know I didn't toss it and why.. After thinking about it for a few days and reading you guys' posts, the mice upstairs have brought me to the conclusion of I was a little rattled from the small line twist resulting in my deathgrip on the damn PRCP Rag and it bled over to SL 4 jump especially knowing last minute I was not in the rig I have been using on every jump.. Thank you guys for the info and stuff, I am still new and need input for my own peace of mind and to help me correct and learn as much as I can as I have lots to learn... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  21. Ok..So my math sucks!!! I am blonde does that give me a little leeway on math skills..lol. I understand what you are saying...But he did awesome with it I guess they knew he would do fine or they wouldn't have sent him up in it. I just wasn't prepared for that last minute switch up and it threw me off .... But I did awesome on my landing and canopy control with the other rig, I need to get use to switching rigs I guess mentally... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  22. While I was watching the dz Sr. Rigger pack a tandem learning a little bit I started asking him about chute size to where I understood a little better . Well he sized my rig I usually use to fit me and the other SL student our pilot snatched it up and they had to convert another student rig and that is what he told me it was, as he was explaining how the extra 100sqft would be alot slower and stuff.. The chute jacker swears he was told the rig he was flying was 265 but that is the one they told me I was flying after he got the usual rig I have been flying.. Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  23. Anyone else ever have anxieties when you find out you are switching rigs to a different canopy size? I did my fourth SL jump today and I ended up with a different rig supposedly about 100sqft larger than the one I have been using or that was what I was told from a 195sqft dolphin to a 265sqft dolphin not on purpose. For some reason I had exit anxieties for the first time to where I noticed it as well as my JM..Gear Fear is what was mentioned... Any suggestions on how to get over them?? I landed perfectly and on the dz but the exit to me was a little uncomfortable as I think I was a little unsure after I knew it was a new rig I hadn't jumped in yet... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  24. I made the dz twice today!!! Did 2 PRCP's on SL 3-4 and I feel so estatic that I made the dz twice... I didn't jump my 4th jump in the rig I have been using 195sqft as it got Chute Jacked (CJ:Chute Jacker you know who you are) lol.. so had to use Rig 2 which was 100sqft larger (265sqft) or so I was informed or misinformed.. For the first time going out the door anxieties kicked in a little. My JM said Gear Fear! I and he knew when I looked back it just wasn't my normal body language I guess I will have to just get over that mentally..Any suggestions you guys' have I would love to hear them .....I never had a problem with exiting before I knew my rig was not the one I have been using. But I did have a pretty landing and soft like Charmin.... Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
  25. Thanks for the anti-dreaming reality.. I had really forgotten all about that tunnel experience until I kept hearing people talking about tunnel time and the mice upstairs started running and the light went on, "Hey I did that back in the late 80's ". I just couldn't put together where in Houston I did it.. Wow that was awhile ago....Yikes! Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.
